What does that have to do with the fact that I commented carrying an iPad in the backpack? Others should use more caution in the sense to prevent Bending when placing it between hard objects unprotected. In your case, your iPad arrived out of the box bent, that has nothing to do with transporting in a backpack unprotected. But since Apple is claiming this is normal, perhaps you should use a case from this point forward or file a Claim to determine if they will permit the return.

I get where you coming from, but isn't it a design fault if a person needs to do so many things to protect their portable hardware, while on the go?. Or maybe not, i don't know, if people are willing to accept it, then its fine, but i personally find this terrible, cause i get scared of using the new products (like mbp 2018), and this is not how this should be imo.

Another story about nothing. If you buy an iPad and it's bent, Apple will take it back or exchange it. Simple as that.
Has anyone anywhere verified that Apple will take the iPads back or exchange them outside of the normal return period?

There has to be quite a few people out there that are only discovering that the bending has happened post 14 days purchase(Apple is letting returns happen later for the Holiday season.)

Right
2 of the 3 iPhones I’ve owned (a 6 and 7 - all purchased new) have had a slight bend in them. It’s never been a problem for me because it’s always been slight. Why complain about something minor?
Buy a car with a bend in the roof and talk

It will be resolved in the next release. Sort of like with the keyboard issue with the MacBook Pro / Macbook. I'll wait til the 2019 iPad Pro refresh with the problem fixed and maybe have the front facing FaceTime camera upgraded to 1080p and other enhancements.

This is just ridiculous! Would one expect to buy a new car that has dents or body damage from the factory? According to Apples logic, yes, this would be considered acceptable.
But would it surprise you to know that there are unit-to-unit variances in any mass-produced product?

I guarantee that if you sighted-down the side of several of a line of the same model of new car sitting on the dealer's lot, you'd find some units with slight imperfections.

In fact, Andy Warhol made a career (remember the famous "wall of soup labels" graphic?) of the fact that even mass-produced-to-be-identical items have slight imperfections that actually make each one of them unique.

They are called "tolerances" for a reason.

Having said that, if I got one that was too bent for my tastes, I would take it back during the 14 day "no questions asked" return period and get another one.

But they are right that this is a very difficult effect to control when a big slab/sheet of metal goes through a bunch of manufacturing steps. It's just that no other brand is held to the same standards as Apple's products.

And remember the internet amplification effect...

I admit, Apples response to this is baffling, regardless if they are telling the truth or not, it will not make the customer feel any better about a product if it is slightly bent out of the box. In the event if a customer does receive a bent iPad, then I think Apple should acknowledge the return for one that is not bent, especially being that this is not a common occurrence with past iPads until now.

I would say most Who notice the bending, have a right to question it, and I don’t think this article regarding Apples comments will appease to many customers regardless.

If you look in the Butterfly-Keyboard3 Topic, those issues are still there.

Well that's not right... I would've returned them straight away if it's true. I've never seen a bent iPhone from new

What happens if you try to put a hard case on a bent iPad?

Mmm... I'm assuming the bend in the iPads apple is talking about is very minor. I think the bend in the videos is very major though and probably not out of the box.

Dunno. But it ain't great!

Lalalllalllaaaa... yes your 2 grand tablet is bent Lalala we don’t care as it saves us money in quality control lalalaaaaa we are richer as a result lalala..

And NO you can’t change it after 14 days!

You can imagine that being the sarcastic thinking in the board room at Apple over this....

I don’t actually think I’ve ever heard of an expensive electronics device, advertised at ‘professionals’ as also being advertised by design as ‘bent out of the box’..!!
