havent most of us moved on and bought a studio display at this point? The greatness of an imac in the past was its value. Now a studio display alone costs as much as An imac. If they do this 32” thing it’s gonna cost like 6grand.. and then you’re stuck with a great monitor ya can’t upgrade the computer on ever. Doesn’t make sense anymore
No. I went with a 3rd party monitor.

Not releasing one was a pretty strong clue.

I went from a 27” iMac to a Mac Studio and Studio Display when they launched. I‘m actually happier with this setup. With the iMac form I had to hold onto it a bit longer to justify the cost of upgrading.

The Mac Studio and Studio Display I bought cost about the same as a loaded iMac Pro, but it should be less expensive to upgrade just the computer moving forward while keeping the display longer.
So did I, and even if the wallet wasn't the happiest at the moment, I'm very pleased today with the purchase, and it's the more longterm Mac solution. The Studio Display will at least last for next Mac setup too.

This is exactly the Mac many are holding out for. a more powerful monitor included Mac.

Apple really ain't paying attention to its customers and is intent on milking them for more money.
Apple have milked us for money since the beginning, why do you think they are the most valuable company in the world? They do something that people want and need, they are a business, not a charity organization.

Glad I gave up waiting a few years ago. Now running an M2 Ultra Mac Studio and Studio Display and much happier for it.
I picked a fairly loaded Max, and I am super happy with it, and will be for awhile.

The Studio Display is just too expensive for me. I can't justify buying one. That's why I've been holding out for a larger iMac.

I loved my 27" iMac – that beast lasted almost 7 years. I regret switching over to an MBP paired with a non-Apple display, mainly because of little annoyances and quality issues. I wish Apple would make a more affordable display.
I have loved all prior iMac's I've had.
Now I bought a Studio Max enough loaded for me, and yes that and the ASD was not for free, but I haven't had a moment of regret. It will last me some years, and the ASD will probably be good for next Mac too.

Nope. Apple’s displays lack high refresh rates and 60Hz strains my eyes. I went with $1,000 LG monitors.

It's a little kludgy and does require some tech expertise, but it is possible to hollow out a 5K iMac 27 and put in a converter board that turns it into a monitor.
I've been following the thread here and it seems like enough people have pulled this off that I should try it as well. The conversion board that supports 5K / 10-bit isn't cheap, but if it works then it's worth it.

People want a $1799 27-inch iMac (that came with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD, keyboard and mouse)

not paying $1599 only for the screen + $599 Mac Mini (8GB/256) + $199-$249 Magic Mouse + Magic Keyboard…. $700 more than before (38% more)

not
paying $1599 only for the screen + $1999 Mac Studio + $199-$249 Magic Mouse + Magic Keyboard… $2000 more than before (211% more, more than double the price!)

Apple is sputtering and their computer sales are down. There is a product that so many people have been waiting for and delaying upgrading their existing Macs. I have this unorthodox idea: perhaps Apple should release the 27” Apple Silicon iMac and boost its computer sales instead of telling people what they should be buying. Why remove a product that was revenue positive?

If they do make a 32 inch iMac Pro which will be a ProXDR display + mac, that's going to cost insanely high, at-least 5000 dollars. That's just silly. I will wait for m3 mac studio update and get a dell or benq monitor.

There goes that iMac Pro rumor...
You guys don’t get it. I always kept saying that the iMac Pro product was a stop gap product until Apple came out with the redesigned cheese grater Mac Pro…

I hope you believe me now. It isn’t happening…get over it…

UPDATE - my own posts that where I mentioned over and over again that the iMac Pro (AS version) isn't happening...

The Studio Monitor is $1599. You really think Apple would sell a 5K iMac for only $200 more than the screen by itself? Unlikely. It would also probably have a PRO chip in it, so you can kiss any thought of a $1799 iMac 27 goodbye.

Honestly, with a Mac Mini you can buy a 100-200 €/$ 27" monitor. And be done for a lot less money.

And before you say "but the quality is less", Apple uses LG panels. LG also makes other monitors, those usually are a lot cheaper.

Barking at the wrong tree there sport; I don't care for an iMac Pro, never had nor will. Just goes to show how wild that rumor was.

I am sad about the 13" MBP tho.

That is extremely disappointing. I want to replace my 2015 iMac and I don't want a mac studio or mac mini. Really really disappointing. I don't know what to do now. I may get the 14 MBP and pair it with a BenQ monitor. I will not get the overpriced studio display. WHY APPLE??????
A Mac mini + a studio display = same price as an iMac

Why are you adverse to that as a setup but open to a laptop and a crappy monitor?

Apple has the best bean counters in the world. I'm guessing they know more than you do and there is a reason there is no 27" coming -- like it was not the huge profit center YOU think it was.

I am parting ways with Apple once my 2018 Mac Mini is no longer upgradable. Apple is just way overpriced.

I would still be on a 32”, 6k iMac Pro. I think what Apple is saying here is that there won’t be multiple sizes of iMac. There could still be iMac and iMac Pro. 23.5” and 27” are too close together in size.

I bet if we stick around long enough, a 32” 6K with Pro and a max options could materialize. And, with that size of display, perhaps ultra.

We’ll see

I mean…who in their right mind would expect them to say anything other than this?

Breaking news: Apple PR recommends customers purchase products that exist right now

I love when these sites use a comment from Apple as proof or confirmation on a rumored product. Apple never talks about future products. They’re also going to recommend a current product instead. Nothing to see here. They’ll release a larger iMac when there’s enough demand for it… they did the same for a smaller iPad and a smaller iPhone. And they finally just released a larger MBA.

Apple has confirmed to The Verge and some other publications that it has no plans to release a new 27-inch iMac with Apple silicon.

iMac-Pro-2022-27-and-24-iMac.jpg

Apple discontinued both the Intel-based 27-inch iMac and iMac Pro over the past two years, and it has yet to launch a larger-screen iMac with an Apple silicon chip as a replacement, leaving the recently-updated 24-inch iMac with the M3 chip as its only all-in-one desktop computer. For customers who want a larger or higher-end desktop, Apple recommends pairing the 27-inch Studio Display with a Mac Studio or Mac mini.

From the report:Apple has only ruled out a new 27-inch iMac, so a larger-screened iMac is still possible. Last month, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said Apple was still developing an iMac Pro with a 32-inch display for release in late 2024 or in 2025. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also expects a 32-inch iMac with mini-LED display backlighting to launch in 2025.

Good, then I have zero reason to buy a Mac and keep using my PC.

Starting at $9,999. And you’ll love it.
