3 times I had issues with my iPhone/Beats wirelesses, was resolved almost instantly. Got a slot, went around shopping, turned back at my appointment time. Issue fixed right away. Just wish it would be as easy with other companies.
I would not trust that much third parties.

You're lucky. Here un the US you can't just walk into an Apple store and get something fixed on the spot anymore. & years ago sure. Now you're waiting a week.

Smart move. A car manufacturer can't legally void your engine warranty because you replaced the radio, I don't know why that shouldn't apply to all products.

This is good news since sometimes you stuck somewhere with a broken screen, but no authorized repair places. Been screwed twice on this. They wouldn't even let me pay for replacement phone. Luckily I had kept the old cracked screens.

That said many third party screens are poor quality, so take it as you will.

I don't know what to think about it. With both Macs and iPhones, it looked like they wanted to make it harder and harder for users to put their hands on the device, 30% to give a "cleaner" experience and 70% to make money.
Are they taking a different path or something?

Commercials actually addressing product concerns for iPad Pro... freedom of information sharing with published papers... now this??

Apple has learned what consumers want.

What about a chipped screen? They refused to replace my battery because of a chipped screen! I tried doing it my self and broke my 6S+.
Standard answer at the bar is usually to pay for the damaged display and then they'll take care of the other issues. This is supposed to avoid additional damage to the display, which would then be blamed on them and they'd have to take care of.

There may be a wait for an appointment, but walk in's are usually still seen. Average wait is about an hour on Saturday at the biggest store here... but most mobile issues are handled in that store at the bar or same day. Watches and Beats aren't... Apple seriously needs to resolve that, but it's better than what I got from the Sony store... when there still was one here.

This is a step in the right direction for apple. Taking a page from the car industry. Now if they only ignore JB phones, especially when the issue is hardware and the JB had nothing to do with it.

You obviously don't work on them.

You've apparently not been through ESD training.

Have fun waiting a week for an appointment and sitting at the Apple store for 3 hours while somebody gets around to it. Or walk in and get it fixed in under an hour (You retain your original Apple LCD) www.fastandfairrepair.com

Nice ad. If you can't make an appointment, walk in. Book a walk in and go do something else until it's your turn. You can leave while a repair is in progress... I don't remember any chains at my last appointment.

Proof that the next iPhone's got a curved display that would be easily breakable and Apple would allow us to replace it in 3rd part shops?

It does, unless the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act is written to specifically apply to vehicles.

Why this move now?

Is this some kind of preemptive gesture to the Right To Repair Law crowd?

I suspect Apl is feeling a ton of pressure, many states are starting to flex their power on Apl (and others) and its practices, only one has to pass a law for right-to-repair then Apl has to produce manuals, reparable devices and spare parts ..this is an attempt to mitigate IP exposure and non-repairable device types . We'll see where this ends. Apl was ready to throw John Deer under the truck by excluding the word "phone"from state legislation leaving everything else in. sleazy apl lobbyists thought they could pull one over on farmers .. But the farmer DA turned out to be a computer scientist and understood what sleaze Apl was trying to pull and called them out on trying to skate..saying your trying to keep everyone out of your secrets. Going to be interesting to say the least, just takes on state then the lid is blown off Apl's protectionist practices.

This is because future iPhone 8 will be completely sealed in glass and can't be repaired.

Ok, good for the customer bad for apple I guess, how should apple know if the 3rd party repair Guy did use ESD protection gear?
One spark from the finger is enough to fry the board.

If you replace your screen with a 3rd party service and they return your phone fried, you take legal action against the party doing the service? I just don't see apple involved in your scenario .

This is nice and all but basically a moot point moving forward, as third parties aren't able to replace the screens of iPhone 7 and 7+ without disabling Touch ID as the sensor is now build into the glass. Repairing broken screens is 90% of what third party repair shops do, so that move is going to be a huge blow to the entire industry.

This guy must be one of those xmen.. mutant! Burn him!

Well it's true ESD is a big danger when your working with electronics.
The biggest danger is that a ESD Damange don't show it self at first it can show it self like 1-3 years after if your unlucky.

That's why it's important to use ESD protection.
