Place anywhere is a technical achievement, but from a practical standpoint, I'd argue that Nomad's Base Station Watch edition is darn near spot on for what a phone/watch/airpod owner would want in a wireless charger. AirPower as rumored, sort of doesn't make sense for an Apple Watch with certain bands. But that Nomad? Yeah buddy.
I love Nomads products. I actually submitted a photo for their wallpaper competition. Hoping to win and maybe get some ore stuff  They make really good stuff.

We’ll see. No mention of charging the Watch though.

I'm surprised and disappointed that the Watch can't be charged on any Qi charger. Poor choice by Apple, but I'm sure they had a reason.

Apple trying to steal the name airpower. I'm not surprised. Apple stole the apple name from the Beatles. It's in Apple's dna to steal.

Why are you here if you feel that way? They weren't trying to steal it. It's the name they wanted and they made efforts to legally secure the name. No stealing was involved. Had they launched the product with that name, and didn't have the rights to it, that would be different.

Mainly by sites like this has been exercising the drama. Everywhere else, no one even knows what the Airpower is. But none the less, it’s probably better that Apple didn’t release this if it was experiencing manufacturing concerns early on and would rather have it delayed to get it right the first time.
Lol, I thought of you when I saw this article. Get your user name trademarked in case Apple comes out with a line of products that maximize battery capacity and call it the Relentless line. MacBook Relentless, RelentlessPods, Relentless Power. o_O

seriously. hope it doesn't disappoint, although it has every chance to.
Come on, man! You've been in here enough to know that it will definitely disappoint people and they will run straight here to voice their "told ya so!"...

*eyroll* I cannot WAIT for that...

I'm buying one for my night stand and one to sit next to my iMac so when I'm sitting there my phone will be charging. Yes, I know the iMac has USB-C ports on the back. Yes I know it would charge faster that way. But there's just something about setting your phone down w/o having to unplug a cable!

What will the AirPower do that an off-the-shelf Anker will not?? Oh well, at least AirPod 2 will be showing up at the door in a few days!

So Apple unveiled the AirPower in 2017 and then another company trademarked it? If that’s the case then it sounds like they smelled the money coming their way.

"We sittin' in here talkin' about a charger. I mean, listen, we talkin' about a charger. not a phone, not a phone. We talkin' about a charger man .... not a phone. it's strange to me too. I mean, how silly is that? what are we talkin' about? a charger??" -Allen Iverson's nerdy alter ego

It just occurred to me how weird the name "AirPower" is for this product.

I mean... you physically lay the devices on the pad. Touching it. Making contact. Not through the air.

Something like "TouchPower" would make more sense! :p

The only feature I know it has that other chargers don’t is showing the charging status of all the devices connected to it on the iPhone screen. I think you can also almost position the devices anywhere on it to charge.

excuse me as I go register every clever Air[something] trademark I can think of...

AirPlane
AirCup
AirSoft[er]
AirGonomic
AirRow
AirCar
AirSpaceship
AirTeleporter

That's why Qi charging is so handy. Yes, it's slower than using a cable to recharge a device, but it's a lot more convenient to drop your devices on a charging pad instead of fiddling with a cable. I have an Ikea bedside lamp with a Qi pad built in and I put the phone on that at night, and several angled stands on desks for daytime use.

Alas, there's likely a lot of people like me who have chargers already and thus don't have an immediate need for a new one. This is an example of production delays unfortunately causing lost sales, but sometimes it happens.

We’ll see. No mention of charging the Watch though.

Apple said it would charge iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods when they announced the AirPower back in September 2017.

Are you basing your comment on the fact that the leaked photo Apple didn’t even intend to make public yet didn’t happen to show a watch? Because if so, that’s kind of a big stretch when you think about it.

"claiming that it would interfere with similar trademarked Apple product names, including AirPlay, AirPort, AirPods, and AirPrint"
Could then Nike sue them, because they already use the Name "Air Jordan" since 1984? How could Apple think that they own everything that starts with Air?
