ive been under a rock for a year so excuse me if this has already been said.
the number 10.4.10 is umpossible cos wouldnt it just be 10.4.1? JK!!!! :D

but seriously 10.4.10 sounds like a good one to round up tiger. hopefully they will fix smb/cifs bugs as i cant connect to my windows computer anymore.... just says error code -50 after i type my password.

I want them to fix that Mac OSX quitting while iTunes and Skype are running, right after I wake up the display, the computer won't respond! or if hasn't gone into display sleep, the whole screen dims and that stupid black dialogue box appears saying to restart my machine. WTH is that about?? That reminds me so much of the 'deadly' blue screen on Windows PCs! I've sent reports every time and i want it fixed, darn it!!

Version numbers don't work the same as decimal numbers, have you ever seen a decimal number with 2 decimal points?

They work much the same as IP addresses, for example 192.168.0.1 is NOT the same as 192.168.0.10, the . is a separator.

(i'm sure you already know this but from the looks of other posts in the thread it appears others do not)

I don't see why anyone has any trouble with a 10.4.10 update, it's the most logical number

the first number is the operating system, the second is the revision the third is the update number... pretty basic

i honestly would of been confused if the did a 10.4.9.5 <-- that would of been stupid but a 10.4.10 is simple and logical

if you don't like the .10, you don't deserve your mac

I'm hoping for a bluetooth keyboard and mouse update. I loose both after a while, and I have to turn them both off then on to reset the connection. I think it was 10.4.9 that introduced this problem.

wouldn't that be an Aperture update and not OS X?

No, RAW support is added at the OS level to libraw, which is part of the Core Image framework.

It's done this way so that all RAW image rendering is identical between Preview, iPhoto, Aperture, Final Cut Studio, or any app that can tap into Core Image.

of course i already knew this :) ! thats why i wrote: [insert sarcasm] ive been hiding under a rock for a year... and wrote JK at the end. dont know if you guys use it or not but in AUS we use it all the time. JK = Just Kidding. i was trying to be one of the .10 whiners from a while ago but i guess i didn't elaborate enough.

i honestly figured this one out as soon as i switched almost a year ago.

getting a bit defensive arent we? most of the people who use OS X dont even know the version numbers and just refer to the OS as 'Tiger'. Its just the forums and blogs that have got confused by .10 and i dont even care about it. its just a Tiger update and the only number we have look forward to is the middle one.

i bought my wireless might mouse a few weeks ago. the batteries are still 100% (as said by istat pro) the trackball and touch sensors are flawless and i never loose connectivity.... the only thing is it takes about 10 sec to pick it after a restart (but who cares!). it also has no problems in vista! im sorry about your problems maybe you could try installing the cd again that came with your mighty mouse and keyboard.... or was the software pre-installed in you mac?

It's kinda funny to see the difference between how Windows and Mac users react to OS updates. With Windows, it's "Oh God, another service pack?!" :D

LOL, I've had one of the best days of my life so far, and that was the comment to top it off!

For once, things in my life are going right.:D (Until tomorrow, knowing my luck:rolleyes: )

That's an elitist statement if I ever did see one. And about operating system numbering?! Geez...

i honestly didnt mean the comment in a elitist manner, just saying that i can't believe people are bothered by it, it's just an update... we should be happy apple is updating at all, they easily could of said "welp, it's at .9 we're done."

maybe they should just go with letters next time... then they'd get 26 letters in before people start going crazy going "OMG! they went to .AA! the world is ending"

I love the perverse mentality that it takes to rationalize that if an update is released that means that Leopard is soon to come. NO!!!!!!!! That means that they are "hopefully" fixing the sabotaged 10.4.9 since Leopard will be a while and their little scheme back fired and we have to suffer for it.

And yes this is just like the Panther to Tiger 10.3.9 sabotage to get us all mad at the previous release and run to the new. But this time until Apple gets caught or admits (Perish the thought) that they used, dare I say, illegal practices to moove their clientele like cattle the next release, we just have to suffer along. And yes we do go like cattle and yes Apple is not the pack of Angels that they like us to think they are.

I just dumped the last release of Leopard and it is a complete disaster and no reason that they delayed its release. We'll be seeing may more updates to 10.4, so don't get your hopes up. And No Marybeth, since an update for 10.4 has been released Leopard is no closer. Maybe even further away. So don't hold your breath. You'll die.

Yet another sign Leopard is getting closer.

I'm sorry but that doesn't make any sense.

Leopard is released when Leopard is ready, not because its predecessor reaches a certain version number. They are unrelated. 10.4.10 might be the last one, but so might 10.4.11, or even 10.4.35...

Yeah, because Tiger is really ****ed up?
I have no problems what so ever with Tiger (10.4.9)...Don't have a clue what you are talking about.

Sept/Oct release.Hmm.I'm hoping for a late Aug to mid-late Sept. release.
If the iPhone comes out with few or no bugs and the :apple: TV update is any indication this shows me Core Video and Animation is real close to done.

Apple® today announced that Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, will kick off its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with a keynote address beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2007 at San Francisco’s Moscone West. At WWDC, Apple plans to show developers a feature complete version of Mac OS® X Leopard and give them a beta copy to take home for final testing. Leopard is scheduled to ship in October.

The key word in Peace's post was "hoping". Peace as well as almost everyone around here knows that Apple said October but that doesn't stop people from hoping that it will be released sooner. The tranistion to intel happened sooner than they had stated for example.

Guess we will know after WWDC when people get their hands on the latest build, if it is really buggy then October, but if not then maybe sooner.

Man, that is the weirdest reasoning I ever saw. You'll have to explain this one to me. Because Apple releases an update to their current OS, it means that Leopard is getting closer? Of course you are right. By definition, Leopard is getting closer each and every day, but how on earth is that related to this Tiger update?
