Apple Seeds Eighth Beta of iOS 16 to Developers [Update: Public Beta Available]

Let’s talk about “focus mode”. Why not just a simple “do not disturb button”?. Why make a simple thing complex then “easier” after some 2 years?.
Only hardcore users use it. Why the non -user friendly name?. My parents in law and my wife never know that “focus” is a “kind of semi Customizable do not disturb, with a name that does not make easy sense”. Really. Just name it after the intended function!!!: “do not disturb”!!!. Is it so hard?. Why put a “deep” name to a simple thing?.
This is not progress!.
So many clicks to customize a focus mode?, and even then, not really customizable. Not more ways to customize in ios16 than in 15.
And the dial pad still CAN’T edit a mistyped number???!!!
Is this a smart rock or what?. Nobody important uses iPhone as the common people.
Why make it ilegal to have the super nice features available by the “non official channels”???

homekit video previews don’t let you mute sound still. Lost that feature a few beta updates ago. Reported it early Aug.

I really hope the iOS 16 issues with external microphones from Shure will be over soon. In iOS 16 they’re not recognised. In my case MV88 and MV88+.

15 was a sht show at times.

Officially: nowhere, since PBs don't have IPSW releases they are all done OTA via the beta profile.

Unofficially: the current PB and dev beta are generally identical bar the dev beta being a few numbers ahead as it starts before the PB, so there are usually a few unofficial mirrors of the dev beta IPSW around if you don't have access to a dev account to download from Apple.

It is now. It certainly wasn't when the first public beta version came out though. Battery life tanked, and it took a couple of weeks for third party keyboards to work. It was pretty rough being forced to the use the iOS keyboard instead of Gboard.

Remind me not to install the iOS17 public beta next year...

Very simple solution; if you don’t like something Apple is doing, provide feedback through the app, and if you think you can do better, then apply to work for them, or create something better.
These incessant ‘I don’t like’ posts. Come with solutions, anyone can invent problems.

I’m still having some pretty buggy CarPlay issues. The only way I’ve found to fix this Music issue is to force quit the app. Not very handy when you’re driving. Also, hard to know from this picture, but I wasn’t actually still here when I took this screenshot. Lots of lag in the Maps app. Force quitting that doesn’t seem to change anything…

I’m also thinking that the crazy amount of heat my iPhone 12 Pro is generating while charging, wirelessly or wired, is due to the Optimized Battery Charging option. If I turn it off, even for a day, it’s nice and cool and charges up to 100% like normal. If it’s enabled, it’ll get to 80% and then start getting super hot.

I’m waiting for the actual RC or whatever’s released after the event to try reinstalling everything. But things seem to have gotten worse for me over the last few betas.

Is that Apple Music? I haven't seen that in Spotify, using a wired connection for CarPlay.

Others may correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure there is a default "Do not disturb" focus mode that doesn't need any customization and that works right from the box like it used to work before. I click the same old button on the Control Center and with it I turn on the same old DND.
I don't know what you need more...

Has anyone else encountered issues with this new beta bricking their device? My 13 Pro was working fine after the update yesterday and them this morning it would not turn on or respond to any type of intervention. I suspect it is unrelated to the beta but thought I would ask. The phone is not old and did not suffer any damage or do anything unusual before this. Applecare to the rescue (hopefully)
