"In Control Center on all devices, there are two new informational pop-ups that are displayed when using the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth toggles. These pop-ups explain that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are disabled temporarily rather than permanently when accessed from Control Center."

This is still a really dumb UI element. The fact that you need a popup explanation to explain that "off" does't really mean "off" should be a clue that this is completely non-intuitive. It makes no sense I have to go all the way into settings to turn on and off bluetooth and wifi; that was the whole point of putting it in a quick control center access. The UI for all intents and purposes is lying. At least then add a real "on/off" quick control panel button then if this isn't it!

I actually don't mind this feature.
I agree, I think it’s wonderfully implemented. I hope this is how it always stays.

It never claims to turn it “off”. I for one find this to be a welcome addition. If you want to turn it off there’s settings. Leaving the radio on I believe allows certain Apple connections to still work, like AirPods.

Battery life is majorly improved. Getting several weeks on a charge now with heavy use on my X.

Thats it? My X last about a month now with no charge. Brightness at 100% too.

You guys are know nothing. I haven't put it on charge since i unboxed it and been using it full fledged.. You're not using it right.

Will Devs PLEASE provide feedback for bluetooth/wifi in control center to actually turn the functions OFF!!?!? Why Apple implemented the 'temporarily disconnected' buttons has to be one of the most idiotic software updates they have ever made. A user shouldn't have to go into the settings app to turn off this feature.
My Apple Pencil is constantly dead because of this change.

I agree with this. With handoff, continuity and all other wireless features which use BT and WIFI, it just doesn't make any sense to turn it off completely.
I could understand that this is bothering some cause they maybe only have an iPhone and can't enjoy the features which make use of having wireless on all the time.

Never used any of these features, and probably most non techies as well. I want off to be off thanks...

Then you will never like the answers from the fanboys. On and off is simple binary, which is now represented by a 3 states and people defend this with all kinds of BS

I know right. I mean going ALL THE WAY to settings to change a setting is a nightmare! You would think they would include this in a 3D touch menu, maybe even all the way over to the settings icon, to make it easier for folks who like to play with BT and WIFI settings constantly............... Apple is doomed I tell ya!

There's no danger of bricking with these betas. It's not jailbreaking of old. There are certainly risks of additional crashes and potential software compatibility but not of totally bricking your phone.

Having said that, do understand what beta means. Far too many here and elsewhere seem to expect beta versions to function without any problems. That's simply not the way a beta works and it's unrealistic to expect it to behave in such a way.

Having said that, most iOS betas have been pretty solid, outside of the very first couple releases for each entirely new iOS version. Once you get to betas of x.1 updates betas, things are usually much more solid. A lot of this is because apps are updated for the current OS (iOS 11 in this case) so there are less crashes there. Where you tend to see more crashes of the early betas (say when iOS 11 beta 1 came out some months ago), many of the crashes can be attributed to apps not being updated yet for the new OS (old apps only updated for iOS 10 causing crashes on iOS 11).

I've said it before and will say it again, the change was made because this is the functionality MOST users are looking for from the Control Center. Apple made this change based on piles and piles of user data.

The typical user was using Control Center to quickly disconnect from the current network and then turning it back on shortly after. They made it clear by their behavior that they're simply trying to disconnect from the current network, not totally turn wifi off.

Yes, your own use of it may not match this use case. We understand that. But the vast majority of users were looking to use it in this way. This is why the change was made. Sorry you don't represent the average user and are inconvenienced by it. For most users, this change has been welcome. Note that no users on this forum are considered the average user. The average user of the hundreds of millions of iOS users don't take time to go to tech forums and talk about their devices. We're a small niche.

So when I’m at a bar I don’t want to Connect to a public open WiFi network.
Could be dangerous and unprotected.
So I turn off the WiFi toggle in the control center.
If I later step in My car it automaticaly connects with My dashcam WiFi network, which I don’t want to auto connect with because I don’t have internet connection. anymore.
So if I don’t want to connect with public networks, I always have to check at any place if My phone doesn’t auto connect on these networks. Seems pretty time consuming and not that handy.

No its 4 states, On and off, and disconnect and connect. Two separate features accessed 2 separate ways. One from settings and the other from control center.

No it's not 4. I am entirely talking about On and Off. Not about how to access it differently and they are no independent of each other , the connect and disconnect. On-Connected, On-Disconnected, Off-Disconnected.. there is no Off-Connected.

If you don't want to connect to a public open network, don't choose to connect to it. What's the problem?

If you don't want to auto-join your dashcam network, turn its auto-join setting off. What's the problem?

This.

The feature is actually designed to keep the core "handoff" elements working correctly.
I have an apple watch, and apple Pencil, my iPad and my iPhone. I love the way the new switch works that if i turn off from Control Centre, at least my watch and "handoff" functionality still works (same for the pencil on the iPad) as well as my wireless headphones. this was something that i missed with the old way of doing it (turn off wifi to disconnect from the wifi network and then realise that my cellular calls on my mac weren't working because i'd switched off wifi)

Glad they changed it.

When I toggle the WiFi off at Home when leaving te house, it may connect to a public network. Which I don’t want to and it didn’t, prior to iOS 11.

Now it does and I need to go trough the settings app to disconnect.

A 3D touch setting in the control panel would be nice. What’s the point of 3D touch when even that can’t do the trick?

surely you needed to implicitly grant permission to the phone to connect to the public network initially? my phone will never connect to public networks that I've never connected to previously, and if i no longer want it to auto connect, i either "forget network" or i disable the "Auto-join". never had an issue since.

What do you mean it may connect to a public network? Doesn't it only connect to networks you've previously connected to? If you don't want it to connect to those automatically, tell it to forget those networks.

This is great news. iOS 11.2 will be out before Christmas to make it easy to gift people money with Apple Pay cash.

And you don’t get those irritating pop ups everytime you are close to Some WiFi networks? I get them All the time because My WiFi is not completely off.

That bar under the icons doesn't make it any more clear that control center is there. But they probably will conclude that as more people are learning the new gesture independent of the bar.

There has been a setting to disable that annoying popup since like iOS 3... (its call Ask to Join Networks)

This feature is really really great for those of us deeper in the Apple ecosystem with an iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods, iPad, etc who bought all of those products because of how well they work together. To me, it appears that between Siri, 3D Touch, multitasking, auto-join, and Ask to Join Networks Apple is still giving plenty of options for those complaining about turning off their wifi in public.
