No it's not 4. I am entirely talking about On and Off. Not about how to access it differently and they are no independent of each other , the connect and disconnect. On-Connected, On-Disconnected, Off-Disconnected.. there is no Off-Connected.
Um ok, there is 1: ON, 2: OFF, (these are in settings) then 3: DISCONNECT, 4: CONNECT (these two are in control center.) And they are independent of each other. You can disconnect without turning off. Now of course the connect wont work if OFF is selected in settings.

When I toggle the WiFi off at Home when leaving te house, it may connect to a public network. Which I don’t want to and it didn’t, prior to iOS 11.

Now it does and I need to go trough the settings app to disconnect.

A 3D touch setting in the control panel would be nice. What’s the point of 3D touch when even that can’t do the trick?
Try to 3D touch the settings app. There it is!

So when I’m at a bar I don’t want to Connect to a public open WiFi network.
Could be dangerous and unprotected.
So I turn off the WiFi toggle in the control center.
If I later step in My car it automaticaly connects with My dashcam WiFi network, which I don’t want to auto connect with because I don’t have internet connection. anymore.
So if I don’t want to connect with public networks, I always have to check at any place if My phone doesn’t auto connect on these networks. Seems pretty time consuming and not that handy.

There is a setting under WiFI to always ask before joining unknown networks.

I'm staying on IOS 10 for now. Maybe by the time IOS 12 is ready for release, Apple will have fixed all the issues with IOS 11.

Wishing you a happy KRAACK attack!

Seriously, I hope you only do (and store) non sensitive things w (and in) your phone.

"In Control Center on all devices, there are two new informational pop-ups that are displayed when using the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth toggles. These pop-ups explain that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are disabled temporarily rather than permanently when accessed from Control Center."

This is still a really dumb UI element. The fact that you need a popup explanation to explain that "off" does't really mean "off" should be a clue that this is completely non-intuitive. It makes no sense I have to go all the way into settings to turn on and off bluetooth and wifi; that was the whole point of putting it in a quick control center access. The UI for all intents and purposes is lying. At least then add a real "on/off" quick control panel button then if this isn't it!

Apple needs to implement a yellow “/“ thru the indicators in Control Center to indicate a temporary “soft” Control Center off and a red “X” to indicate an permanent “hard” Settings toggle off.

You aren't a developer, by chance, are you?

What's sad that people have to choose between the security issue and dealing with iOS 11. Apple could patch iOS 10, but alas they'd rather not.

What surprises me more is that they haven't patched iOS 10 running on the iPhone 5 and 5c which didn't get iOS 11. People using those phones have no choice but to be less secure.

I had an interesting experience after I upgraded to this current beta. I have a iPad Pro 10.5, prior to the upgrade the battery percentage was approximately 72%, post upgrade it was at 1%. I thought that odd. Plugged it in at my desk, nothing. No charge, no movement, nothing. Hard reset, back to 72% and is now charging.

I actually don't mind this feature.
I like the new way. I was hesitant at first, but I now see why it’s useful. If I ever actually want to turn the functions off completely I don’t mind going into settings because I have no reason to actually turn them completely off that often. The feature isn’t going anywhere, everyone will get used to it.

And the average user has a wifi connected dash cam?

Please understand, you aren't the average user. You aren't who Apple made this change for. Sorry but this change was made to help the majority of users, not a very small minority.

This. I very rarely have to explicitly turn off WiFi or BT, and those rare times I do it’s easy to use 3D Touch on settings to switch it.

The majority of times I only want to turn it off temporarily. The new method also saves me data by accidentally leaving WiFi off and using data on LTE when I get to work or home.

That bar under the icons doesn't make it any more clear that control center is there. But they probably will conclude that as more people are learning the new gesture independent of the bar.

Agreed. From a signifier perspective, it's unclear. It just looks like a design decision. Apple has sort of lost its way when thinking about the design of products. A re-read of "The Design of Everyday Things" might help. :)

What about te update size that went invisible after the iOS 11 update in the app store?
Is there a fix for that too?
I like to see What size certain app updates are before updating so I Can decide wether to update right away over cellular or wait until I have a WiFi connection.

Then you will never like the answers from the fanboys. On and off is simple binary, which is now represented by a 3 states and people defend this with all kinds of BS

Yes, its hilarious. People are actually defending and coming up with explanations here such as control center isn't used that way etc...

Then turn them completely off, in settings. Then you’ll never have to worry about it again.

Im not worried, i just want to be able to quickly turn things off like i have for several years now. There is absolutely nothing gained for most users, just loss.

Then again, I am still on 10.3.3 and wont upgrade for a year likely anyway.

They are defending it because they like it that way, people have opinions, they like to share their opinions, as you do.

Who are the majority of users? I really bet the vast majority have no idea what are continuity or airdrop or even how to use it but they did know at one point turning something off meant it was off...but not anymore. NOt in apple world, off is not off, its just disconnected until it re-connects later on magically.

The average person doesn’t have an iPhone X of €1329 I guess.
But for that money, I want thing to work my way.

Let's try this again. Before the advent of this new "feature", wi-fi , bluetooth etc had 2 states. On-Connected, Off-Disconnected. What I am saying here is that this simple binary operation has now been changed to 3 states : On-Connected, On-Disconnected, Off-Disconnected. This has nothing to do with where i have to traverse to either in setting or wherever. Also Connected , Disconnected by themselves mean nothing, it is the state of some device, like wifi is connected or disconnected, and it can only do so when the device is on or off, not independently. There is no connect without on. Hope that is simple enough.

Wait i have idea, lets make Airplane Mode work the exact same way. Control Center just disconnects from the current cell tower and immediately starts to re-connect to another cell tower.

Apple sold more than 6 million iPhone X on Black Friday alone. Release day was likely 10x that. I'd say the average person is buying plenty of X.
