Why? Mojave was perfect, I don't understand people with issues, as a mac user for the last 12 years I never had 1 single issue whatsoever, then again I always format the entire drive and install nothing from backups, always like a new computer, all systems have been perfect.

Wanted to keep access to the iOS App Store in iTunes. That was the only reason I did not upgrade.

Try this with Firefox (if you are getting the malicious software message) ... Go into Applications and right mouse click (to open menu) and select open.

FIREFOX does not work with new Public Beta: 10.15 Beta (19A526h) worked fine before. Crashes on my clean Mac Pro instantly now. Not security. Chrome still doesn't run for the integrity error.

My system is a clean install of the beta. So they have much work to do.

Chrome you can get around by holding Control and pressing open, then pressing open on the window that comes up...

Well just an update. MBP2018 upgrading to the dev beta 5 19A526h took 10.5 hours before finishing.
I left it to run all through (no resets or button pressing - despite my nervousness increasing with each hour).

Am testing today to see how things are but from a first look (aside from the 10hr install process) it seems to be running ok. Touch wood.

Chrome Version 75.0.3770.142 (Official Build) (64-bit) worked fine for me on 19A526h
I've also just now updated chrome to: Version 76.0.3809.87 (Official Build) (64-bit) and this one is running ok too.

Both Firefox and Spotify crashes for me after Catalina public beta 4 update. According to Mozzilla Apple is working on a fix but no word if there will be a separate fix or do we have to wait for the next beta.

Unless Mozilla can fix it in their apps, or there's a simple fix involving some terminal commands, I reckon we have to wait for the next beta for Firefox and Thunderbird to be fixed. You say Spotify also crashes and earlier someone named another app that crashes on start (don't remember the name). Plus I'm still having issues quitting Apple's own Messages app.

Not sure why this beta was released a few days after the iOS one, considering it seems no-one at Apple was testing anything. Maybe they had to wait 3 days for their Macbooks to update :)

That is not how any single professional Mac user does things. Not on work machines, personal machines, or spare machines.

The years of stuff I have install via command line alone makes that not even an option. Others can relate. By comparison, you don't even use your Mac. No one cares if a format + clean install works.

One last item to report: B4 Home Sharing works with the latest Apple TV beta. B5 kills it again. Home Sharing still works between B5 and iOS 13 B5. I'm back to using Plex for a while until B6 arrives. Or B7. Or B8...

Ok so I decided to go ahead and update this weekend. For science.

Took about 31 hours. Which is an improvement on the 40 hours it took on b4.

I sent the latest installer log to Apple. Haven’t had a chance to look through it but I’m sure hoping they can figure out what is happening here. This better not be the new norm!!

Beta 4 was totally smooth for me as was beta 5 (on a late 2013 MacBook Pro).

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro11,3
Processor Name: Intel Core i7
Processor Speed: 2.6 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 6 MB
Hyper-Threading Technology: Enabled
Memory: 16 GB

How much of a match is the above with your late 2013 MBP? I also have a late 2013 MBP, just curious about how closely related our configurations might be. Thanks in advance.

I have a MacBookPro11.1, with an i5, 2 cores, 3MB L3 cache and 8GB.

[doublepost=1565083661][/doublepost]Exact same specs, never had any problems with previous bèta's. PB5 is still installing, 20 hours and counting.
Only change since this install is that I enabled File Vault.

After a good 30 hours the update actually pulled through. Working now without loosing anything

just curious - do you have an obscenely large Photo library? if so, iCloud Photo Library enabled or no? I'm a 30+ hour install also and a yes on both...

Just south of 18gb on the photo library and iCloud Photo is enabled.
You have to wait out as the update did pull through in the end

Little update: seems Catalina may not have been freezing for no reason - this also happens on Mojave, whenever I reinstall over existing/wipe+install the system, restore from TM, and run a new TM backup + Spotlight index + iCloud photo update, my iMac freezes. I've narrowed it down to an iCloud photo library-related process, which I've since toggled off (more details on an Apple Community thread here). Whatever the process "VTEncoderXPCService" is, it's causing random system freezes that require a hard reboot.

tl;dr Catalina probably didn't freeze because of Catalina. Dangit, iCloud Photo library.

Great salad dressing.

I’m waiting for Apple to run out of Well known California locations so they have to resort to places like MAC OS 20.15 Murder Mountain or MAC OS 18.3 Florence and Normandy

any idea when beta 6 will be available

I was hoping for a Tuesday release. B5 was released on a Wednesday, I believe. It's been over 2 weeks. We used to be able to more or less count on Tuesday and Sunday releases but it's all over the board now. In any event, I'm in Europe and they release as late as 20:30 over here so we'll see.
