don't forget the delete the beta profile before you restore from backup if you want to go to non-beta version.

Could anybody confirm if this actually works? for me, it didn't and it created a mess. this is what happened. I was on and iphone 5, public beta 3. I wanted to downgrade to 9.0.1 since the beta version didn't allow me to write app reviews. So I deleted the public beta profile, took a fresh backup on my computer using itunes and then put my iphone in the DFU mode. It restored it to 9.0.1 (the latest public release at that time). But when I tried to restore my backup, itunes said that "the OS on the phone is too old". It wouldn't let me do it.

I had to restore as new, redownload the beta profile, go back up to public beta 3, restore from backup. I also tried the trick of "update" instead of restore as new as mentioned by the commentator "countyourbeans" here: http://9to5mac.com/2015/09/16/how-to-downgrade-ios-9-1to-ios-9-0/

but it didn't work. It would still not restore a backup taken on the beta version to a (lower) public release. If that's so, should itunes atleast be programmed to warn us about this? For me, there's no official way or hack to downgrade to even a point lower. I just have to wait till ios 9.1 is officially released.

Now comes the most weird part: at the moment, I'm on public beta 4, but I've deleted the profile in settings. I'm still getting the beta 5 update

Anyone?

Except that there were quite a few fixes, they just might not have been things that you might have been affected by.
Any idea what? No one seems to have pinpointed anything obvious. It does seem performance may have been tweaked. but what else?

Do you mean in relation to anything new/different in beta 5? My reply was in relation to updates that have been out since 9.0 has been released, given that that's what the post I was replying to was referencing.

They definitely could be more clear about not being able to restore a newer backup to a previous OS, it is subtly implied in the Beta FAQ. Having said that, it also says to switch to a release version you must install the next public release when it becomes available.

Also, it may be possible to do a DFU upgrade to the previous release on your phone - this worked when I was downgrading my 6 but I didn't run it for long, and wouldn't recommend it as there is no telling what issues may arise.

Did you reset your phone after deleting the profile? Software Update may still be on the beta channel.

Yup, I tried multiple resets, reboots in between. (Just didn't mention that in the previous message). I still don't see a technical reason why it cannot be made to restore to a point-below OS on the phone. After all, its apps, data and settings that are being restored. Any conflicting/non-existant settings can be ignored. For example, one can restore a backup from iphone to ipad without any problem, even though ipad may not have settings for say, carrier, vibrate, etc. Its not impossible to have a "point-below" version-agnostic backup and restore IMHO.

btw, for anyone interested in having a beta release and still retain the ability to write app reviews: just delete the beta profile, reboot the phone and voila... you can now open the app store and write reviews even though your OS remains the beta one.

Yeah sorry beta 5. Thought maybe you had seen some changelog somewhere.

So far feels a little less laggy on my 6 plus.

Can we get url preview on non s models please?

I honestly think this has more to do with 1gb of ram than with 3D Touch hardware

If you are using iCloud backup you cannot go to a older iOS with a newer iOS backup. If you use iTunes, there is a trick that will allow it usually. ou edit the version line in the info.plist file. Only within major versions I would think would be suitable. So an iOS9 backup to iOS8 for example may not work out so well. Has worked fine in the past but of course things can change with Apple.

Wtf?

Samsung 6s Plus user here, PB5 has absolutely revamped battery life. Going to wait a few days but my phone is still at 100% battery life after almost 5 hours or so after unplugging the phone. This has got to be some issue with the battery indicator or something.

Depends on usage. standby is days. I had a 12 hr 12 min stdby and 22 min use and still on 100% on iP6 iOS 9.1b4 Sunday. After a tad more usage it dropped on down. But standby has been great on the 9.1 betas (after b1 i believe it was)

Well. This is a non developer successfully downgraded to iOS 9.0.2 and kept it for less than 48 hours without losing data and restoring from backup.
I do use iTunes to restore to previous official release.

The real trick is: you need to "update" to iOS 9.0.2 rather than restoring, which does lose all of your data in progress.

I'm a public beta tester but the build number is 13B137 not 13B5137.

And with a large file update, they didn't even fix the ellipsis on emoji keyboard.
