This will never happen. Apple doesn't want to store that data in the cloud at all for security reasons. It is done locally only.
It can still sync it between devices with end-to-end encryption, just like they do with iMessages. I think there even were some rumours that somebody at Apple had hinted as much.

This may be normal but I haven't had it before - there's an Apple ID account section at the top of settings, showing settings, iCoiud, and devices using that ID.

Once I read that I LOLed hard. Apple was still using filesystem made in 1980s ?! It's like using fat32 on Windows machine in XXI century. It could be like Android move from ext4 to F2FS.

This might be big deal in terms of performance and much better security. Any benchmarks available ?

No filsesystem changes or other under the hood changes? No other fixes, tweaks, changes in relation to anything else? (And the majority doesn't use Siri?)

Well, I did say "almost" nothing.

And yes, I am convinced the majority of iPhone users don't use Siri. Maybe they tried it once for laughs but out of all the iPhone users I know (and there are many) nobody really uses it.

HFS is (was) still being updated. It is not like it was frozen in time for all these years. Technically, HFS Plus is from 1996, HFS became obsolete when Mac OS X arrived.

You're joking, right? For the majority of users who (a) don't own Airpods; (b) don't use Siri; and (c) don't have any HomeKit devices, this update does almost nothing.

Honestly the only thing they could release in a software update that people would care about is
Bug fixes (which has been happening)
Dark mode (which they will release when it's ready)
Better Siri.

Other than that, the software is golden.

Wonder if this will allow you to program hue light switches and Lutron Caseta switches from the Home app?

This seems like a pretty big deal (from the release notes):

When you update to iOS 10.3, your iOS device will update its file system to Apple File System (APFS). This conversion preserves existing data on your device. However, as with any software update, it is recommended that you create a backup of your device before updating.
Wow I didn't know it implemented APFS. It gonna be pretty cool to see how this works out.

Apple File System? What? What? What? Apple made a file system? So A, M, S, W, T chips. San Francisco font. Swift language, and now a file system? When will the Apple gimmick train end? Bigger battery, Cupertino. Are you morons listening? Bigger. Battery. Thicker. Phone. Innovation.

Just because HFS+ was still being worked on doesn't mean it's not way past its best before date. Adding a new car stereo and some duct tape to a 1992 Ford Taurus doesn't mean it's not just barely holding together.

Can someone tell more about new filesystem? How it's compared to present one in terms of security and performance?
My favorite breakdown after the WWDC:
http://appleinsider.com/articles/16...ystem-detailed-at-wwdc-to-replace-hfs-in-2017

Jump to "New features designed into Apple File System"
and
http://arstechnica.com/apple/2016/0...-good-and-bad-in-apples-new-apfs-file-system/

with the latter containing links to the Encryption and Performance sections, the summary in Performance (under the embedded image in this section) hits that nail on the head - optimization of the OS for flash memory, finally!

People who actually understand operating systems have been begging for a new file system for more than a decade.

They almost went with ZFS, but it became a big problem when Oracle bought Sun.

Also, anyone complaining about Apple's custom chips needs a good kick in the head. They're the best mobile chips around.
