I updated to the release version and then put the beta profile on. Now Beta 6 again.
It’s developer not public beta

Just updated but mine still says I’m on 11.3. That aside; holy heck is this thing quick! It actually feels like it’s sped up to 2x or something.
Lol is that sarcasm
Because it’s placebo effect
If you updated with the public profile
You have the same os at the final 11.3

Okay? But the guy I was posting to said the guy he was responding to didn’t update to release if he was seeing Public Beta 6 for 11.3 and I was pointing out that for some reason the public beta profile is updating people from release version of 11.3 to the last public beta.

As always, Messages in iCloud will waltz in to make a quick diva appearance and will be gone with the wind soon after

Messages in the cloud is there and has been for the last several betas. Now it doesn’t exactly perform like a top but I guess that’s what betas are for.

Messages in the cloud seems to be back, the settings appear on my iPad.

I’ve had it on the last several betas. Did it disappear at some point (outside the official 11.3 release). Weird if so because it was never removed from my X during these beta updates.

You guys will defend no matter what... Apple messed up, this feature was announced almost a year ago. If it still needs this much work, they should have never announced it in the original iOS 11 keynote.

Except when software development runs into unforseen issues. That can’t always be accounted for. I really doubt the announcement of messages in the cloud has somehow duped people into buying an iPhone. I’d be surprised if the vast majority of users even know or care about it.

Agree, they shouldn't announce features that aren't ready to ship that day. I really miss the old days when Steve would say "available today" or "pre-order today, available on Friday."

However, this massive delay makes me think there was some intervening event we aren't privy to. For example, Apple has been really harping about the whole security thing. What if in September an engineer found an exploit that could compromise all iMessages in the cloud messages? What if the exploit wasn't something that could be easily patched, and required a proper "back to the drawing board" approach?

I would suggest this is true. Getting it right and for seeing all potential exploits isn’t easy and rarely accomplished on the first try. I have no problem waiting and it doesn’t bother me that they announced it even if it wasn’t ready. I just want them to get it right. I’ve lived without MITC so far that it’s not such an important feature that I can’t wait.

I'm writing off iOS 11 as a total loss.

It's ridiculous to have to sit through 6+ months of a messed up OS just to have a functional device, for which I regret paying $1,149.

Beautiful hardware doesn't mean jack when the OS is junk.

Not sure where this vitriol is coming from. I've been running 11 since beta 3 or 4 and haven't had any issues with the OS that I would consider worthy of note. Sure, during the beta phase there were some bumps, but it's been fine for me, and I imagine for the overwhelming majority of people, since then (being the techy in the family/extended family, I hear all complaints and concerns from a wide swath of people. I'm sure of all the ones running 11, if any of them were having issues, I'd hear about it -- I always do.).

11.3 is just more tightening up.

I've been loving my X since the day I got it (launch day). Sucks that you're not enjoying yours.

I’d have to agree. I’ve never ever ever had problems with iOS 11...certainly nothing to “write off” the entire os version over. Not sure how people are saying it’s unusable.. if it was unusable then masses of people would have unusable devices right now and would be busting down Apples doors. Seems a little sensationalist. I sometimes wonder what these people are doing to their devices to make them so unusable.

But thats the public profile yes? The version released today is only for developers running the developer profile. There is no public version as of yet so the public profile is not going to request beta 1 of 11.4.

I am sorry, but I think it's just you. Ever since iOS 11.3 dropped, there is generally no problem with the OS anymore.

While I’ve had nothing but positive experiences on iOS 11 I know that others have. I’ve been running every beta since they dropped and haven’t had any more issues than with previous betas. This goes for iPhone X, iPhone 7+, and iPad mini 4. Outside of the usual beta bugs 11 has been fine for me. In fact I like it better than 10.

Yeah. I was just pointing out how weird it was that I updated to release and the Public Beta took me back.

Ah ok got it. Yeah when you switch to the beta channel it offers up whatever beta is available (in your case PB of 11.3 beta 6). That's why you have to remove the beta profile before you can get the release version (switch back to release channel)

Well, given that this is a developer beta, if you are installing it you *should* have access to the release notes via their developer page. And you also technically can't disclose the contents of those notes as you're under NDA.
Have you read the notes? Very thin.

I don't understand what Messages in iCloud means? I already have iMessages on my iPhone, MacBook Pro and iPad. They all sync up in real time. what is the difference with Messages in içloud?

It means that the data can be stored on iCloud, and will stay in sync between your devices. As it is now, Messages will receive the new messages coming in on all your devices (including those you send out), however, if you delete a message on one device, it will not be deleted on the others, and if you set up a brand new device, it will not have the message history from other devices, unless you've restored a backup to it.

Not knowing what is in these is like App updates that only say "Bug Fixes". Really? Why not add a little more detail.
Lotsa luck. The terse "bug fixes" is industry standard. I would guess that if a company got more specific that would make the guys in Legal incomfortable.

FWIW: “Messages in iCloud not available” is what I see. (iPad Air)
