Well I guess it’s time to look at a newer MacBook Pro since they stopped support for my 17” early 2011 one. Oh well. I was surprised it wasn’t dropped last year.
The 2011 17" MacBook Pro is an awesome machine far beyond what Apple are capable of producing today. From another time when a Mac was intended for productivity rather than being a fashion accessory.
Stick with High Sierra rather than being enticed by the gimmicks of Mojave after all its only High Sierra wearing new Lipstick underneath it remains largely the same.

Has anyone installed this yet ? And if you did does Parallels still work as normal ? thanks..

Parallels crashed a few times for me. I think that's a known bug already mentioned in the beta notes, I've used Alfred to launch Parallels but launching apps without dock or finder crashes them.

So far, I don't have any issues running Parallels with Windows 10 VMs.
[doublepost=1528147064][/doublepost]Apple just took a turn for the worst with Safari, you can't use any regular extensions anymore. They're requiring Safari App Extensions, which only contains of 20 apps.

Apple should've gone with Chromium's extension APIs.

Yea dude, I'm in the same situation. This is the end of the cycle for my 2010 MacBook Pro, which is supporting High Sierra like a hero (a bit hot, but otherwise, running smooth).

I'm afraid it is time to look for a new 13" MacBook or MacBook Pro. Now the question is... Should I wait until new ARM MacBooks are released? Or buy the Intel Ice Lake ones if they manage to release them on time?

Thinking that I should be good through at least 10.15 before I need to update my workhorse late '13 MacBook Pro (which still runs like a top).

Ability to set new accent colors, these change the colors of selected text, buttons, the top menu and much more.

Since the verbiage of the error states that extensions should come from their extensions gallery, but Safari disabled two of my extensions that do come from the extensions gallery, I’m guessing this is a beta 1 issue that will be fixed along the way.

I wonder if you can still have dark dock and menu bar without making everything else also dark. It doesn't look that great to be honest.

So sad my early 2011 MBP is not supported :(

Exactly. I have the same machine and it's still crazy fast for most of the tasks I do. A dark mode skin and a few new apps could not possibly seriously require more horsepower than my 2 Ghz 4-core i7 MacBook Pro can muster. I hope apple reconsiders or has a plan to support more devices in future betas. I did try to download the installer and it said my device is not supported.

I won't buy the current generation of macbook pros due to ports, keyboard and charging interface so I guess I'm out of luck.

Such an underwhelming slew of updates, but we all complained about how buggy iOS11 and High Sierra were (side note: who the heck gave them a 95% satisfaction score??) here's to hoping this boring update is at least bug-free!
Because actual users are not the ones on forums whining 24h/day. Everyone I know in real life loves High Sierra for example, its speed, eGPU support, APFS speed, Metal... on forums it seems the opposite, because users usually post when they have issue or want to troll.

How does Safari handle dark mode? Does it override the style sheet and change page backgrounds to black? Can someone with the beta post some screens?

Thanks!

Also, favicons in Safari are now an option! It seems Apple addresses a lot of minor but long-standing customer wishes this year.

I would say wait until October, or whenever Mojave launches, as it should come with a lot of new hardware too.
We still have time to save some money for what's coming.

Guys, any idea how to load dowloaded image to external harddrive, so I can boot and install from there? I suppose simply copy it there is not enough?

According to the release notes...

  • The APFS file defragmenter new in macOS 10.14 is currently disabled and will be enabled in an upcoming beta. (39925294)

  • After enabling or disabling FileVault, the volume will become invisible to pre-macOS 10.14 systems until the encryption or decryption process completes.

They still run, you get a warning when you try to open one though. Another thing is that you can no longer add extensions to Safari which are not from the App Store.

Is there a warning every time you open the 32-bit app or only the first time?

Too bad, I was hoping for better support of my 2011 air. It's almost unusable under high sierra. ios 12 is supporting all devices that were supported with ios 11, but should get snappier. Unfortunately instead of doing the same with macOS, they dropped support :(
