The BIG question is, "When the update is released, should I download it or wait for the next update?" And while I'm waiting should I also wait for the next iPhone, iPad, iMac, MBP? I mean after all I don't want to buy them only to find out that in the next 6 to 9 months a new version may come out.

Re: September 1752

Having a working retro calendar is useful for those doing history work, writing historical novels, or researching old astronomical observations.

And not only does iCal get September 1752 wrong, but also all the months before then as well.

Apple has had calendar problems before. In the pre OS/X system software, dates prior to January 1904 were disallowed because the system's century leap year calculation for 1900 was incorrect. There were some real problems with genealogical applications that couldn't record old birth dates and death dates.

I note that even the early 1970s sixteen bit Unixes got the 1752 date right.

I won't be happy til apple stops giving us mediocre graphics drivers and OpenGL. they only JUST added 3.0, but still poor 3.1 and 3.2 support, 0 4.x support. and you wonder why PC gaming right now stomps mac gaming, when to even compete with directx 11 we'er gonna need apple to stop dragging feet and give us better standards. prior to 10.6.4 our highest openGL was 2.x. A year after windows had directx11. As a gamer, I find apples attitude toward it terrible. If i couldn't boot windows on a mac i woulda been forced to switch long ago to a system I don't even like because apple won't commit to better graphics and gaming experience.

Lets just hope this attitude changes soon.

Hopefully they will fix:

- Frozen reboot.
- Frozen cold boot.
- Unsorted Desktop items.
- Safari crashes when saving web pages.

I don't experience any of those issues? Are they common - or is this something specific to your set up?

Personally 10.6.4 is rock solid - zero crashes, zero issues.

Are you sure that you don't have any hardware issues? Have you checked your HD?

We are running 10.6.4. on 4 Macs in our household with no issues :)

At least we have Steam now. I think Apple understands the significance of that from a gaming perspective. And I hope Valve/Steam will be able to make Apple dedicate some resources to graphics drivers.

When 10.6.7 will be released, does that mean we can expect 10.7 soon after that? Since Snow Leopard was released when Leopard was at 10.5.7 or something similar, right? I guess it means the OS is maturing fast.

I also don't expect Snow Leopard to last long, since to us users it's exactly the same as Leopard with a few more bugs. Maybe OS X 10.7 (or whatever the name will be...) can be expected in early 2011?

By bugs in Snow Leopard I don't mean serious bugs, but stuff like Exposé and Spaces are much less smooth and accurate as before. Try activating Spaces, and drag one space around the screen in the bird's eye view, and then release the mouse. There's this 5 second lag when dragging, it's lame. Bugs like these make me feel I'm more under Windows than OS X, since Windows had all these annoying interface glitches that never got fixed, while in Leopard there were no such things. Well Snow Leopard changed this...

There was a mention that as 10.7 is mentioned in the iOS 4.0 codebase, that it will come within the life of iOS 4.0 - So expect to see developers looking at 10.7 at WWDC 2010 (and presumably potentially before, but we'll see).

I pray to god that the included Graphics Driver update will fix the issue with StarCraft II being unplayable with nVidia cards. Otherwise there's no other way than to play the game under ahum .. Windows :(

The 3rd release of the graphics update, which is included in 10.6.5, has increased my Starcraft 2 framerates from 9 (running on recommended settings) to 27-33, on a June 2010 Mac Mini.

So, yes.

Yes it does.

Nothing to stay up for. Just a few boring bug fixes so far; we already got the graphics drivers.

Great. More stealth hiring @ Apple to fix up Safari for 10.7 Now that is something to look out for.

Where can I get this 3rd release graphic update?
