Have they addressed the security issue? Whether in the update or commented about it at all ? (I understand the different opinions on this topic - big deal/not big deal/etc.) Just curious if they've commented on it

Yeah, my slide rule is still on the same OS version that it had in 1973. Fantastic!!! ;)
I still have my slide rule kicking around in my tool chest. I have absolutely no clue how to use it anymore. Siri did pull up a number of sites when I asked "how do I use a slide rule?" Looks like there is a nice free one on the App Store!

:)

I've never had a problem with the first version of any previous MacOS installs, yet High Sierra has killed 2 out of 2 Macs I've installed it on. One only required a reinstall on top of the previous install, the other couldn't even see the hard drive, went into "Internet Recovery mode" and installed Mountain Lion.

Hope they're working with Adobe (or Adobe with them rather), can't upgrade until the issues with InDesign and Illustrator are sorted.
what version are you on and what exactly doesn't work? I'm still on CC2015 and I'm holding off upgrading to High Sierra because of potential problems...

It ran some out of place process on my machine and said the file system verification checks were incomplete. Rebooting brought up a message that the update package was missing components. Oddly enough, performing first aid on my disk and rebooting solved the issue, and finished the installation successfully (albeit slowly). Never had any issues with other software versions at all.

I've never had a (serious) issue with any Apple update, including the betas (am I allowed to say that?) before. High Sierra though caused really, really big problems.

Eventually I worked out the problem was with Rogue Amoeba's Instant On, something I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere. Perhaps no one else used it. I had to uninstall it (after also going back to a Time Machine backup of the whole drive on a previous go) and all is now well. It was buried in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL (I've no idea what HAL stands for). I think Rogue Amoeba now have a version that works, but I won't be going back.

Oddly the effects were to kill all sound (making the sound preferences panel unavailable) and making Safari unusably slow - presumably because of some weird interaction with Audio.

Already had a kernel panic on my MacBook Pro and I haven’t even had High Sierra for two hours. Getting sloppy over there in Cupertino.
I don't know what I was thinking, trying to install the first release of an OS. Didn't even get past the "calculating install time" for High Sierra. Then a kernel panic. Now restoring from Time Machine back to El Capitan.

Hmm...this is concerning. After all the Developer testing and the countless users running the Public Beta and then to still have so many issues to release an update within a week?

I honestly don't understand what is happening? I also wonder if it is related to the lack of follow through on support contacts. I know personally I have a number of unresolved issues that remain open that have gone to senior advisors or engineering of which I have never heard back with any feedback.

do they usually hold the first public beta off a bit or do you think it will be shortly?
It varies. Could be tomorrow, or next week. Often the same build as the developer release, so if you want to get it at the same time as developers, run this command in Terminal:
Code:
sudo softwareupdate --set-catalog https://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/index-10.13seed-10.13-10.12-10.11-10.10-10.9-mountainlion-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog.gz
Can't guarantee it will work, but it should.

This is completely normal. This is a beta of an update with features that didn't make it into the first release, and non-showstopping bugs they found late in development. It won't actually release for a few weeks, at the earliest.

How about fixing Airport issues or loading time in High Sierra oh I forgot Tim Cook rather move everyone to work on driverless car as if that is more important for Apple customers. There is also a issue for not loading external Hard Drive now too what a shame even after clean installing.

The update could also include features Apple has delayed for a later set of betas, such as iCloud storage for iMessages, and we're also supposed to be getting some new emojis soon.

Anyone have insight into whether 10.13.1 will add support for installing into RAIDs that are the boot disk? Many of us Mac Pro users have the odd position of sitting this one out unless we do weird things. And weird things are OK, but...

No, please.

One "Kernel panic" and Apple is going to the dogs?

I have run the developer betas since Mountain Lion and have never had a "kernel panic."

I actually don't know what a "kernel panic" IS.

As a developer, you should know what a kernel panic is.

I'm running the latest CC and I haven't encountered any issued with High Sierra beta or the official release. (I did with Sierra though and that was because of SoftRAID.) Let me know and maybe we can figure it out?

Not as bad as the data loss bug in the initial release of Snow Leopard. .0 updates have always been risky.

There are three bugs I've been looking forward for them to fix. First is only partial support for exchange 2016 in Mac Mail. Second, text messages show up out of order in iMessage. And finally connection to SMB shares that use DFS have been unreliable. If they can get those fixed, I'll be a happy camper.

What do you mean by partial support? Any support at all? Nothing's working for me since Sierra with Exchange 2016. Any tricks for me?

Appreciate that although I'm also concerned as I use Time Machine with my Drobo 5D and as far as I can make out that isn't possible with APFS. I'm ok with waiting a while. For once I'm going to be sensible!

I've not upgraded because of the reported problems. The ID one is this: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2376594, Illustrator is having some swatch and colour management issues.

Oh and why are you still on CC 2015?

I tried CC2017 Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro on my 2015 rmbp 13 and they worked worse than 2015 (especially Ps and Il). Found out Iris 6100 wasn't supported anymore or something like that.

Well, I have two ThunderBay 4s running SoftRAID (RAID 5), one for work and media and the other for Time Machine. All are formatted HFS. The only APFS volume I use is my startup SSD. It backs up to Time Machine just fine. I also use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my APFS startup volume to an external HFS volume and that works fine as well.
