Still can't auto-mount network shares without prompting for credentials (even if saved in keychain). Pretty lame bug. I'd verify that the bug report for it is still open...but, "An error has occurred. For assistance accessing Apple Bug Reporter, please contact Apple Developer Program Support."

I can't believe they STILL haven't fixed that bug! I won't be updating my Mac Pro from El Capitan until this one is fixed.

Kind of fitting, really. I'm not updating my Mac Pro... and Apple aren't updating [the hardware] of their Mac Pros either. Grrrrrr.

This is great news, as 10.10 really was a step down, performance wise for me on my mid-2012 MBP [matte, hi-res, non retina screen]. El Cap doesn't beachball as often, but still performs worse than 10.9.

Question: did you do a fresh install on your early 2011 MBP, or a typical upgrade?
Just an update. It's been rock solid throughout the betas and still now.

Every machine is different, but on my 2015 rMBP 13", it's the most stable macOS release I've ever used, and I've run everything since Lion on a handful of different machines.
Yeah it's been absolutely great for me, minus the chess app... I can't start a new game when I have one already open (it crashes), and the graphics are really slow and laggy, this is on my early 2011 MBP

I don't have a Logitech mouse. From what I can see it affects a lot more than just Logitech mice, if what issue you are referring to is the same as mine. I use the Zelesouris Ergonomic Vertical Mouse. I've simply noticed in macOS Sierra scrolling one notch at a time results in no movement on screen whatsoever, whereas in El Capitan the position on screen would scroll at least a pixel or two. It really makes it difficult to scroll slowly when you need precision, so I can't upgrade to macOS Sierra until and unless it's fixed - which is a shame as I find Sierra to be a bit faster than El Capitan on my iMac.

I've found scrolling (to move between PDF file pages in Preview) doesn't work with my cheap Logitech mouse since 10.12.1 unless I first move to the second page with ⌥↓ and using my Magic Trackpad to swipe between pages is erratic. Reported but not fixed.

Everything is slower with Sierra. Just trying to drag a jpg into a folder there's a delay, or deleting something.

FWIW - macOS Sierra 10.12 wasn't too happy on my mini, but 10.12.1 seems smooth, and better than el capitan. Maybe the only piece of good news this year for me :0

I have a 09 27' iMac - I was on 10.12.0 and had to go back to el captain because Sierra would freeze up everyday and I would have to force reset. I downgraded and that issue is gone - anyone know if this bug has been fixed?

Just to take a walk down memory lane...

I have a 2007 1.83ghz MacMini running on 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and everything works perfectly. No problems.
Sure it isn't a snappy computer... but there's no OS problems. No issues.

So much for progress.

Yeah, 10.6.8 was the last really good OS X, since then its heading in a weird direction (not to mention bugs).

As for the mini, I have one like that for my father. Just add RAM and swap the HDD for an SSD and it will fly :)

I have those apps but don't use it often. Thanks for heads up..but what was it that it messed up?

A few random things liking hanging and stuff when saving files. But a major issue was closing certain file types made the entire program crash - sometimes losing a lot of work. Extremely frustrating.

Oh boy...alright thx!

12.1 was an okay update. Fixed issues with the Apple Watch failing to unlock (and at least provided info when it failed to work). Also of note: you can rebind the esc key to CapsLock now without Seil (something I've been missing since jumping to Sierra).

I know this isn't too relevant to the thread but I had to announce that after finding it.

I've done just that - late 2009 2.26 GHz C2D w/ 8GB of RAM - pulled the optical drive out; stuck the original 160GB HD in there [an OWC kit] and added a 256GB SSD. The system runs 10.6.8 and runs my online used bookstore biz perfectly well. Super responsive. I use Firefox as my browser as Safari has the SSL bug that Apple fixed in newer macOS releases, and FF just recently stopped updating the non-long term support version of their browser for 10.6.8, but otherwise the system is awesome [oh, and I have to run an older version of 1Password].

I'll be upgrading this to El Cap soon [i'll be doing it slowly and putting it on the HD at first, as there's a lot of software I use that needs to be behaving the same way on El Cap]. I'll probably swap the 160GB HD for an SSD later to make it as snappy as it can be, but I can tell you - I will be booting into 10.6.8 fairly often as I deal with vendors who still use FAX machines and so I have the Apple USB Fax modem and Smile Software's excellent PageSender app; both of which aren't working in more recently OS versions. I would love to run 10.6.8 for as long as possible though - I've used every macOS version since OS X public beta [pre-10.0] [and many years of pre-OS X systems too]. Tiger [10.4] and Snow Leopard are my favorite versions, so far.

I am looking forward to Sierra on my MBP though - it used to fly with 10.9, so I'm anxious to see it fly again. :)

I thought I was the only one. Creating/deleting a folder takes about 3-4 seconds, as does deleting any file. A number of times I've right-clicked and selected "New Folder" and nothing happens, so I do it again. Then I'm left with two folders named "Untitled Folder" and "Untitled Folder 1". Infuriating!

I upgraded to macOS Sierra briefly over the weekend but I noticed scrolling very slowly on my non-Apple mouse resulted in no scroll movements on screen, which doesn't happen under El Capitan. Makes precise scrolling movements on macOS Sierra painfully difficult. Can anyone confirm whether this behaviour has been corrected in the 10.12.2 beta?

...
Should clarify I use the Zelesouris Ergonomic Vertical Mouse. Some people say some Logitech mice are affected too, but I'm beginning to wonder if all non-Apple mice are actually affected.

I had my favorite mouse and another device stop working and on both emailed the company asking if they will update the software or driver and both companies to my surprise emailed me back with download links. One was beta software.

Looks like Sierra requires some code changes so i would suggest contacting support and ask about new drivers etc. it paid off for me and now i can still use both.

I can't find the exact article I read, but these two allude to the security change. Essentially, Sierra requires root to mount things into /Volumes.

macos Sierra (10.12) automount on login -- keychain functionality ...
http://apple.stackexchange.com/ques...plescript-mount-volume-keeps-asking-for-login

True, anything that before that relied at the root level may have issues. We have to hope all of our accessories still work after the latest version. Check manufacturers for latest updates.

I think their software has been better than ever this year with WatchOS 3, TvOS 10, iOS 10 and MacOS Sierra.

Unfortunately, their hardware across the board seems to be hurting or in dire need of a breath of fresh air, with real features consumers want.
Strongly agree. Could you imagine what their software would run like if they produced a machine with features that consumers actually wanted?

In one of the threads lobby @ 72 mentioned, there's a link to an app in the Mac App Store called AutoMounter. That might offer a solution to the annoying pop up password box for NAS devices. Only downside is that it doesn't mount in /Volumes, but that's not a surprise considering these "security" fixes by Apple.

I can see me being able to work around that, as I don't have a ridiculously huge number of links I'd need to update. YMMV.

The only thing then stopping me from upgrading my main computer to macOS Ford Sierra is the problem with external 4K monitors running at scaled resolutions. Does anyone know if that bug is fixed in 10.12.2 beta?

I can't help thinking that these bugs/undocumented program features are things that shouldn't have found their way into any golden master of 10.12.x
