It messed with my Photoshop and Illustrator performance. Did a fresh install and it got even worse. Not specifically Apple's fault, but still.

Kind of fed up with Apple atm.

Adobe software has always been notorious for crappy performance, crappy non-native UI design, and demonstrating a lack of respect for their end users. Like other developers, Adobe had access to beta builds of Sierra months before it was released to the public. They've had every opportunity to identify and correct any issues relating to the new macOS release, so it's a bit rich to blame their crappy performance on Apple or Sierra.

For a Photoshop and Illustrator replacement, try Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer. I was a Photoshop and Illustrator user for over 20 years and looked elsewhere when Adobe started renting their software. I've found both Affinity apps to be excellent and unless you use really advanced Photoshop features you won't miss it at all! It was surprisingly easy to make the transition. The apps aren't perfect, but they're being improved all the time. (I'm not connected with Serif, Affinity's developers. I'm just a happy customer.)

Sorry, that was slightly off topic. Let's get back to slating Apple and specially macOS Sierra...

After having seen so many bugs in the GM, it is a horror to imagine how many there must be in the betas, when the GM still feels like beta.

Please. Just. Stop. I remember when OS updates fixed bugs and offered slight improvements in speed, not to mention updates to the look and feel of the interface. New emojis - really? Emojis require an OS update instead of an online download, picking and choosing what you want? Sierra itself - that entire cycle just to include Siri? Why are we tolerating this?

It works perfectly on my Early-2011 MacBook Pro. No major issues. Far better than El Capitan and Yosemite in terms of performance. I'm actually really surprised at how well it runs.
Exactly the same experience for me. Works perfectly well on my Early 2011 MacBook Pro as well. No issues at all and in fact seems better than the previous versions from my experience.

Disappointing to read that the lack of automounting of networking shares is Mac OS 'working as intended'.

I believe the painfully slow SMB transfer speed is also Mac OS 'working as intended' due to client signing.

Since I don't use Siri, I might spend this weekend rolling back to El Capitan, which in hindsight was a pretty solid release.

Speaking of SMB, has anyone had trouble with apple TV4 infuse and SMB to their mac, I cannot get that junk to work either.

I thought I was the only one. Creating/deleting a folder takes about 3-4 seconds, as does deleting any file. A number of times I've right-clicked and selected "New Folder" and nothing happens, so I do it again. Then I'm left with two folders named "Untitled Folder" and "Untitled Folder 1". Infuriating!

Very annoying especially since my Mini was working fine after Apple got the kinks out of El Crapitan.

Each update should lower hardware pric

Yes, don’t be shy to try Affinity!

That's all Adobe. There are bugs with InDesign drag and drop as well. (Adobe has zero excuse as they had access to Sierra betas and gold masters for months, just like every other developer.)

But the worst one, for me, is a an awful bug that only affects users with SoftRaid installed running InDesign—it just simply doesn't launch. I followed this bug on the Adobe user forums and another user confirmed the bug after speaking directly to Adobe. I've also spoken to the author of SoftRaid, and he confirmed it's Adobe's bug and will be fixed in the next InDesign update. (SoftRaid has excellent support, by the way.)

Turns out Sierra has been the most stable release for me since probably Snow Leopard.

I read somewhere that this new behavior is actually intentional. Something related to security. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

lol, I can't imagine it being a security feature when it pre-populates the login prompt with your username and password. All it has introduced if, in fact, it is a "feature" is that you have to press "OK" instead of it passing automatically.

The slow SMB transfer is horrendous compared to El Cap. I don't know why, but I gave Apple the benefit of the doubt and thought something was wrong with my NAS...nope...just buggy Sierra.

As far as the automounting of network shares goes it's likely that any scripted and third party methods are broken "as intended" but I'm using an alias to the share in Sys Prefs->Users->Login Items which has been a core function of the OS for ages. The fact that the bug report on this issue hasn't been closed gives me hope that they are acknowledging it as an actual bug.

I purchased Automounter earlier from the Mac App Store to give it a try as it wasn't horrendously expensive. It won't mount to /Volumes because of these "security" changes in Sierra, however that hasn't proved to be a big problem for me. I had to change about a dozen aliases I created for my wife on her desktop (laptop already running Sierra). The only other app I had to change was Coda 2 (web development app on my main machine still on El Cap), but it turned out to be clever enough to update all of my settings with the new location of the share after just changing one of them. Job done!

Ultimately, I hope Apple correct this issue, however this little app is working fine for me so I can see me sticking with it regardless.

I, too, have a bug report submitted on this issue that isn't closed, and they never said that it works as intended.

On the plus side, those shares would randomly disconnect after sleeping the computer (I never shut my iMac down) prior to Sierra, so that bug is fixed!

Fecking emojis!! has anyone developed an Emoji stripper yet? Like termites...I dont want them cluttering up my system!

macOS is still good. One of the few things that is still good. I'm sure Apple is hard at work wondering how best to **** it.

They don't need to - they've already destroyed the MacBook Pro for actual development work. As long as they continue to make the hardware useless, then macOS will become irrelevant without them having to directly mess it up.

I wish Apple would stop with the useless features. Siri on macOS. Really? Just give us a stable working environment and actually release updates to your hardware slightly more often than when the moon turns pink. Is that really so much to ask?

When will they fix chrome responsiveness and Logitech mouse issue?
No it doesn't actually brakes the back and forward button on my mx master I can't use it for media play back or use it as back and forth as well. only things that work on the buttons if I set them to a gesture but thats it.

I use "itsycal" as a menubar item to show me upcoming calendar events.

Since this beta, the menubar icon has finally stuck in the right place (i.e. it loads next to the clock, which is where I want it) instead of resetting itself to the left-most icon position each time I reboot.

As an aside, installing the second attempt of this beta (the "minor update" referred to in the post above mine) caused my iCloud account to lock. I had to unlock it and reset the password (and hence log back in to FaceTime, iMessage etc on all my devices).

A few random things liking hanging and stuff when saving files. But a major issue was closing certain file types made the entire program crash - sometimes losing a lot of work. Extremely frustrating.

I am sorry to hear of your trouble. May I ask what version of Photoshop and/or Illustrator you are using? Thank you in advance.

Will they have finally squashed the bug that causes recent items lists in the Dock to not update? I do wonder...
