Surprisingly, they did release it in the beta program today.View attachment 511606

Neat! I won't be participating in the PB anymore. I only did it because I was too impatient for Yosemite. Now it doesn't seem worth while, seeing as I was running it as my main OS and had to put up with the bugs. Now I'm running the Yosemite release and I think I'll stick with public releases now. ;-)

I installed 8 Gb RAM, took 5 minutes.
The computer is not faster though, so it's disappointing.
Also, when I check the activity monitor the green memory pressure bar is all the way across, not sure what this means but my Mini is using 3Gb out of the 8Gb available so I would think memory pressure would be low?

So if we're on the final Yosemite 10.10 and install the pre-release 10.10.1 (which has shown up in my software update), does that throw us off the update path again, or will it let us continue to update through to the final patch versions?

It kinda sucked downloading the full 5GB Yosemite final installer to get off the PB.

Just stick it on a secondary machine or partition. I wouldn't touch my main machine with beta software but my 13'' rMBP which is currently my throw-around laptop always gets the public betas.

I kinda wonder that as well. Something tells me not though simply due to how Software Update detects what version you're running (10.10.1 = 10.10.1). Doesn't rely on build numbers it seems.

two things i've noticed with the 10.10.1 beta: 1. the wifi menu bar icon is fixed...it used to show the X, even when i was connected to wifi. now it shows the signal lines.
2. my memory management seems to be much better. on 10.10, i often had less than 1GB of free memory available, even though i have 24GB of ram on my imac and have only 6-8 apps open at any particular time. now i show around 11GB of free memory, which is about what i used to show in mavericks.

other than that, i haven't really noticed any other differences...

This will update fine, based on how all the previous interim pre-release software updates have worked in 10.9.

It does check build number. Software Update will get 10.10.1 beta users to the final 10.10.1.

I NEVER, NEVER and NEVER had a WIFI ISSUE.

So, if the hardware is the same, if the software (Yosemite) is the same, why someone got problems and someone don't ??

It's really interesting...

Because of the variability inherent in networking.... your Mac is not operating in a vacuum.

Do you have handoff-enabled devices nearby? Is it enabled? What WiFi access point do you own? What WiFi spec is it? Is it 2.4 or 5Ghz? How much local interference from other APs are there? What is the signal strength? What other devices exist on your network?

See what I mean?

Definitely a lot of variables.

It lost count how many times I had to reset my two (new and old) Airport Extremes then get the network settings right without having the routers throttle speeds down to 1Mbps from 50Mbps for no reason.

Why does Apple even have Feedback Assistant?
Reporting the bugs actually knocks you offline, forcing a router reset and re-try.

Not a single bug I've reported since Beta 1 have been addressed and we're on Beta 7 now. What's the point of me wasting all my time?

Yosemite still boots to the wrong display, in my case an HDTV across the room.

Still Wifi & internet issues.

iPhone still bricks the bluetooth.

Final Cut Pro is bricked. And there's a Catch 22 though there too. I can upgrade Final Cut on an older Mac which I don't use, but I can't upgrade it on my Mac Pro because the original installer does a graphics card test and mine didn't exist at the time so the original installer won't work!

I would think a late model but previous version Mac Pro would be treated just a little better by Apple.

That would be a big fix, especially if it speeds up performance which has been dismal with Yosemite.
8Gb RAM should have my machine purring, it made no difference

You can count. Right?
Since when does 11 come after 9?

before you open your mouth and sound stupid do your homework please. In the history of mac os releases there has never been a x.10 release hence why the OP's question is valid and educated unlike your response.

----------

Shouldn't OS XI come after OS X 10.9?

From version 10.9 to 10.10? So much for sorting OSes in a list.

probably because XI or X11 or whatever you wanna call it isn't ready. The numbering situation probably happened because Steve Jobs is no longer around AND probably because the new OS will be completely different than anything we've ever seen before. That's what i think.

Hey, at least we're not using Microsoft. Windows 8 is followed by 8.1 and now, logically, Windows 10. Or is it Windows X?

They should have called Windows 8.1 Windows 9. Then it would all have made more sense.

This has been asked and answered many, many times. OS X is a brand name. I can see Apple using it for many many years to come. After all, they don't really market it as OS X 10.10, it's called OS X Yosemite. (same as OS X Mavericks, OS X Mountain Lion, OS X Lion etc). It's all about the name, not the version number. There is no OS X11, or OS XI, I doubt there will ever be a release called that.

----------

Yes, since Apple hasn't fixed anything I've reported, I'd say they're ALL BETAS including the GM which still has the Beta Feedback Assistant which is also buggy!

I agree that Yosemite is still quite buggy, 10.10.1 doesn't seem to have fixed much yet.

lol The very fact Apple released OS X 10.10 shows that both you, AND the OP are wrong.
And just because it hasn't happened before until OS X 10.10 doesn't make Apple wrong either.
Fact is, 10 comes after 9. Simple as that. Deal with it :)

And that's why they said they needed something to call OS X for the next ten years. Get over it, OS X is the brand name. Next year is OS X 10.11 and some place in California.

I haven't been able to replicate the Finder graphical glitch so far. Fingers crossed.

Anyone else?

10.10.1 appears to have finally fixed the Bluetooth of Death iPhone connection issue. After rebooting, repairing permissions, the problem has not reappeared yet. Nobody would put up with plugging their iPhone in with a 3rd party or even sometimes even the Apple supplied cable and having their Mac's keyboard & mouse completely bricked forcing a shutdown or a reboot.

Booting to the wrong display still occurs every time. I know what the cause is, but Apple won't fix it. It's because one of my displays is still an analog connection and Yosemite, unlike Mavericks, is forcing the HDMI/Mini Display port digital connection to be the boot display regardless of the settings in the Displays panel. And the DVI to VGA adapter is also probably fooling Yosemite too, but once again, this was not a problem in Mavericks. I intend on getting a new display for Christmas, but VGA, DVI, HDMI, Displayport should all be acceptable technologies still since there are still many displays/TVs with all of these connections around and I don't think a Radeon HD 5770 is that ancient of a graphics card either to not be properly supported since it shipped in all of the last generation Mac Pros. But why do I have a feeling some "Must have latest/greatest" snob will disagree?

Fixed Mouse lag and Broadcom Firmware upgrade

Image

Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite update to developers, nearly three weeks after first releasing OS X Yosemite to the public.

The new beta, build 14B17, is available through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store and through the Mac Dev Center.

While it is unclear what improvements the first update to OS X Yosemite will bring, there are several bugs in the operating system including a major Wi-Fi issue that has caused connection problems for a number of users.

Apple is asking developers to focus on Wi-Fi, Exchange accounts in Mail, and the Notification Center.

Great news: I installed this version today and the Mouse lag is gone!.
Old software version: 4.3.0f10 14890
New Software version: 4.3.1f1 14950

Additionally I can see that there was applied a firmware upgrade to the Wifi Card (Broadcom), software version remains the same.

Old Firmware version:
Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (7.15.124.12.8)
New Firmware version:
Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (7.15.124.12.10)

Not certain if the lag issue people are talking about will be addressed, but we will have to wait and see.

I'm going to correct myself. This is my last bug report as of right now...

This is like a damned if you do damned if you don’t.
Connecting an iPhone 5s kills Bluetooth. Mouse gone.
Reporting this via the program kills Ethernet & WIFI.
Connect another Mac via Firewire and EVERYTHING IS GONE!
Do you like have monkeys throwing paint at a wall or something writing this code? SERIOUSLY!
HOW CAN YOU NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM APPLE ???
I’m going to have to reset my router just to send this report because the Feedback Assistant is so buggy.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

All true! And easily reproduced too. :-( UGH!

PS: And if you're wondering, I connected a wired mouse & keyboard to send the report! UGH! :-(

I assume you did basic troubleshooting. Same issue with a new user? Same issue with a fresh system booted from an external disk?
