might be better to look here, there’s been a bit of chat about Mail:

I have found some messages about Mail.app here, so it does seem that work is ongoing on it. Thanks.

Hi guys,

what changes are there in mac mail app ?

I cannot copy tables from ms excel to apple mail, it is not compatiable. is the compatbility issue still persists ?

I cannot even manage or create table directly from mac mail.

This is the first time that i’m dreading an OS update for my Mac. It adds nothing of significance that appeals to my usage, and I am not a fan of a lot of the design change decisions.

I think Apple have decided to remove the design barnacles associated with Mac OS 10.

Unifying the 'iOS/Mac' family with the Mac's move to AS.

Makes sense. Though not all will like it.

I certainly do. Seems more unified with the rest of their products. Fresher. More vibrant.

Less like the Mac is the ginger haired step child.

It's about time the MacOS had a bootstrap design pass from tops to tail. A long time coming.

The iPad has taken from Mac. The Mac has taken from iOS.

Azrael.

Easy to create a partition on your Mac as well as Bootcamp?

Disk utility?

Azrael.

I've been using it all morning. I dig it so far. I'll use it for basic stuff all day-or at least until it crashes. 😉

I am using it on my main machine (though not mission critical). So far everything works fine and mail works better than Catalina's. Even WoW works well! I like the look, it looks fresh and crisp.

I haven't read this whole thread but maybe this will help someone save a few headaches. GlobalProtect (palo alto networks) does not seem to like Big Sur. Your network will show green status with a good IP address, but all server connections will be blocked. I couldn't even access local devices like my router, so I knew it wasn't an internet or DNS issue.

It took me a while to think of using safe mode, but the internet worked fine when I did. So, I removed startup items like OneDrive and others. Still no success outside of safe mode. So I figured it was a kernel extension. I had them listed in terminal and the only results were three having to do with paloaltonetworks. So I followed these steps to remove the GlobalProtect Enforcer kernel extension. It worked like a charm! Network functionality resumed immediately after executing the command. In my case, I was unable to prevent the reload of this kext on reboot, because it seems to be part of a locked profile (this is a managed device) that I cannot change even with admin privileges. At least I know where the problem is, and it's a super quick fix/script/workaround for now.

I installed last night and never really did anything besides log in. Just started using it this morning and it seems anti-climactic. No earth shattering changes and so far there's nothing I cannot do. To be fair, this is my personal MBP and do nothing other than mail, documents, and web surfing. YMMV

How is printing/scanning working? In the past this has been an issue with Betas.
Working quite well for me. Have a new Brother laser printer. I downloaded the Mac drivers and installed them, then went to settings and looked for the new printer (on wifi). Found it, installed using the Brother drivers. Have printed from mail, Acrobat reader, LibreOffice, MS word. Absolutely rock solid.

I just want to see, whether it works in my Parallels VM. The Developer Beta 4 did not. It booted into a black screen.
It actually worked, after I followed the suggestion from elsewhere to put this into the boot flags:
Code:
devices.mac_hw_model="MacBookPro14,3"
devices.smbios.board_id="Mac-****************"

i don’t love the design changes, but for me it feels much faster than catalina

Installed it on my 12" MacBook and found a few things that I really don't like.

Icon spacing on the menubar is very wide now. They should have left it the way it was before. All that extra space is just a waste.

Some of the title bars are like triple height, again with a lot of wasted space.

Also the menus have a lot a extra space also.

This really makes me think that they are doing this because a possible touch screen Mac is in the works and the extra space would make it easier to use a finger to select stuff.

What do you all think?

You don't need a partition. Big Sur installs into an additional volume in the same APFS partition.
Sorry if I should already know this, but do you need to create the volume before or does it automatically due that because it is a public beta? I would like to install it on another volume so it can share space but I have the option of using Catalina as needed.

I agree with a lotta your views. Apple done messed with the menubar in ways that I dislike incredibly. The drop-down menu selector has a white background and is difficult to see compared with previous betas. Also I dislike the roundrect style and wish they would revert back to the Catalina style.

Plus, in menus that have a check mark in them, the menu becomes misaligned. The Window and View menus in the Finder are good examples of this.
