No one should install this if you have plans on going back in case something doesn’t work. No way to roll back. Once you’re on this beta train, you’re on it to the official release. I’m surprised after seeing this being available on all the tech sites that not one of them that I’ve seen have mentioned there’s no going back. Just detailed and simple instructions on how to do it.

for shame
Find me an example of something that doesn’t work. If anything it all works bette than watchOS 6

It would be nice of them if they had a feature graphic showing which new features will actually appear on each device. I don't have a series 4 or 5 because I am not rich and there is no point to upgrade at the moment. It makes it hard to get excited for anything I can't use.

Oh I’m with ya there! Same with iOS 14. Better than anything iOS 13 has had. I’m just saying some people might not know and might assume they can roll back just like you can in iOS. FWIW I’ve had no issues at all on watchOS 7 other than the expected battery drain. Been better on the last beta, though.

Ah the Series 3 telling me I don’t have enough room to download. Time to unpair and re-pair my watch.

The betas for watchOS 7 have been great apart from minor graphical bugs. Had it since beta 1 and no issues at all. Can’t see why anyone would want to roll back to 6, I guess Apple don’t either since it’s now public.

I've had serious problems with WatchOS7, including my Series 3 freezing, hard-crashing and rebooting on its own several times a day. Also, there's an issue with Series 3 where users are told they don't have enough room on their AW to install so they have to unpair and re-pair the watch to download & install successfully; not everyone may want to jump through that hoop for every beta seed.

watchOS 7 successfully installed on my series 5. Looking forward to using/testing the sleep functionality.

yea I am not touching this one , nope, nope :)

I am thinking the same. Decided to do the public beta on my phone for the first time, and it has not gone very well. Oddly, the first public beta seemed fine, but the latest has been giving me regrettable trouble.

Remember: There is no way to downgrade an Apple Watch back to watchOS 6, even in the public beta.

In the public beta notes "Please note Apple Watch cannot be restored to previously-released OS versions once the public beta is installed."

This is the same as the developer beta 4.

Ohhh snap!!! Good catch! I didn't know that. Does that apply to Big Sur, too?

Worth noting that as well as not being able to downgrade watchOS back to 6 once the 7 beta is installed you’ll also not be able to go back to iOS 13 on your iPhone either if you still want to use the watch as watchOS 7 will only pair with iOS 14.

Software update says the download is 990 MB, but when I try to install it, I get an error message saying I have to have 3.4 GB of space free… when my Watch only has 4.7 GB in the first place.

Deleting third-party apps and photos would maybe get me to 2.5 GB free, so if I want to install this beta, I have to unpair and re-pair.

Yeah, nah. Skip.

yeah but beta stability isn't always linear. i've had a lot more issues with iOS 14 pb4 than 3.

so even if THIS watch os build is stable, there's always the potential for a bricking to happen in a future release.

Are you using a series 3? If so, the release notes for WatchOS 7 DB state that unpairing and re-paring may be needed for series 3 users. I didn’t have that problem for the first 3 betas but got that message for beta 4.

That’s what makes the summer so “exciting”.

I uninstalled all my third party apps and restarted my watch and phone, then it chose to download.

The first time it got stuck on "Preparing Update" so I deleted the update and tried again. If this time fails, I'll wait for the next beta.

I've never had this much trouble installing a watch update.

NOTE: I'm using a Series 3.

It took me two tries to get DB 4 installed. I had to wipe my series 3 and setup as new before I could install DB 4.
