So it’s clear by now: Final version of iOS 13 to download at launch day WILL be 13.1 while new phones will come with 13.0 and waiting to be updated at once when unpacked.

You think the mess that is 13.1 is going to be ready in a couple of weeks? No chance. Apple is completely clueless right now.

If anyone DOSE"NT want to go on to IOS 13.1 beta Remove the Beta Profile Now. This should stop further bets till IOS 13 comes out. If your on a beta of 13.1 the you would not be offered IOS 13 on release as you would be on a Higher build.

If a new 13.0 public beta gets released, how would I update to it? Right now iOS wants me to upgrade to 13.1.

I wish they would give some kind of explanation of what’s going on here. As someone planning on getting a new iPhone next month... do I stay on 13.0, so I can restore from my backup or will 13.1 be the launch version?

If your a beta tester and your getting a new iPhone wouldn’t you just put 13.1 on the new device and then restore it?

"Mouse support, an accessibility option in iOS 13, has been improved in iOS 13.1 allowing a long press or 3D Touch to be mapped to the right click function of the mouse"
This can be huge for iPadOs as a "computer"

I’m confused why they even released a public 13.1 beta, especially if it’s in bad shape.

If it were in good shape, they wouldn't need to call it 13.1 beta 1.

Chances are, Apple stripped the non-essential new features from iOS 13 and moved them to iOS 13.1. Launch devices will come with iOS 13.0 and new features can wait until October for iOS 13.1.

Queens of the Stone Age; No one knows!

I’m presuming 13.1 will be released and 13 will be skipped but I honestly don’t know.

What do you all recommend doing if we want to stay on beta 13 and skip 13.1 - just turn off auto update or remove the profile? i'm thinking of reverting to 12 - i want a nice smooth data transfer to the new phone. And does this mean no more updates to IOS13 ?? this can't be the GM. Apple really created a mess with this one - they should not have pushed out 13.1 to public beta testers.

You have it all wrong. There will be no iOS 13.0 available to the public on release day. It will be 13.1. 13.0 is loaded on units already manufactured/now being manufactured—period! Wait and see. Those staying on 13.0 beta 8 are already outdated.

The only problem with leaping to 13.1 is that you may have to go the iTunes route to get off the beta. A lot of people like to test out the latest IOS and when the GM is released get back on the regular releases. I know that is what I do. It gives me the latest IOS version months in advance, but once it's out I prefer to get off the beta.

Jumping to 13.1 could very easily have caused you to "pass" the GM.

That’s not the point of the beta programme is it? You want 13 early to get the GM, not bothered about testing it and then worrying when they change the beta testing path...

That is what a lot of people do, and to think otherwise would be naive. In fact, I would venture to say most people on these forums on IOS 13 are not developers and are just people looking to see the IOS 13 features way in advance.

I also think beta 8 will end up being the GM since it leaps straight to 13.1

If you want to be safe delete the profile, restart your phone to stay on beta 13, then when Apple releases to the masses you'll be fine.

Not sure that anything is clear. While something like that is a possibility, it seems that the more usual possibility of iOS 13.0 being released and 13.1 being released sometime later (as it goes through its beta process and becomes ready in the next month or two or so) is there still.

Outdated in what sense?

Apple isn't going to launch iOS 13.1 in 3 weeks. It's Beta 1 right now.

Then I would be stuck with the current 13.0 beta? Since iOS and iPadOS are still buggy I’d want the new 13.0 beta. But not 13.1 since it seems to be buggier.
For the time being if You don't want 13.1 don't do a software update. If a new IOS 13.0 beta comes out then do an upgrade. it still might involve removing the profile and installing a new one. For the moment you have 3 choices stay as you are do a full restore and go back to IOS 12 or go on to 13.1.

exactly! Since it seems to jump from 13 to 13.1, a new 13.0 beta doesn't seem likely or even possible? beta 8 is likely the GM unless Apple surprises us and says the phones will ship with 13.1.

That's assuming there would be more 13.0 developer/public betas (which seems like that might not be likely at this point).

Not sure about clueless. They might feel there's no more developer/public beta feedback they need for 13.0 and so they put out 13.1 for that feedback instead as work on that has already started (as is typically the case with development).

Removing profile and rebooting brings profile back. Just turn off auto update and dont update manually.
