Did you find out?

For Windows users. You need iTunes 13 which is not released until sept 19. So do this to install 13.0 GM

- Download and install 3uTools. Download the IPSW file

- Connect iPhone and open the program

- This is IMPORTANT: Turn of 'Find My Phone'. If you don't you will be in trouble.

- Choose in 'Flash & JB' the option 'Pro Flash'

- Read the text and put your phone in DFU mode by pushing the buttons the program says. The program will say when the device is in DFU mode. The phone screen is always black in DFU mode.

- Check 'retain user data' on the left side. Click 'import' and browse to the GM IPSW file

- Click Flash

WAIT UNTIL DONE, DO NOT INTERRUPT

After the flashing you get a white screen with Apple logo and 'recovery'. It takes a while but eventually the phone boots and you are done. Turn back on 'find my iPhone'

If anything goes wrong (but it wont if you follow the steps); do a standard restore through iTunes to revert to 12.4 and wait for 19 sept

Anyone know if it’s possible to get the GM OTA?

had the developer profile Installed until about 2 hours ago, was trying to see if I had to remove the profile to get the update, but now I can’t readd the profile as there isn’t one on the developer portal for the GM..

I was able to do an upgrade to my Xs via High Sierra. It did prompt to download an update for iTunes but after that the update went thru like a breeze. Xcode is not installed.

There is not OTA method. That method will only be available on sept 19.

Tried and iTunes 12.9.6.3 gives an error saying "To update your iPhone to iOS 13, you need the latest version of iTunes". Can't get newer than 12.9.6.3 yet :(

Same thing happened to me while the phone was still restarting. When it finished restarting, it was on iOS 13.
I used iTunes 12.9.5.5, but I had installed the Xcode 11 GM. Did you update the Xcode 11 GM?

The GM build will be the same as the next week release? And what will happen if they change the build how can we update to the newer build if it's changed?

Generally that's what the GM is. If there's an updated build usually that would come out as an updated version, like 13.0.1, and that would just be offered as an update as any update would usually be offered.

Wonder if we'll get a catalina GM/release before the 19th too - otherwise a whole bunch of people who use reminders are going to be very annoyed.

You can choose not to update your reminders until you get the other devices updated.

This worked! Although I didn't have to use the "Pro Flash" option. iOS 13 GM appears as an option under "Easy Flash." Here's what I did:
  • Download the iOS 13 GM IPSW file for your device (links here)
  • Download and install 3uTools
  • Turn off Find My iPhone
  • Connect your iPhone to your PC
  • Open 3uTools and click "Flash & JB" at the top
  • In the Easy Flash tab, choose iOS 13 GM (the one that does not say "beta" and has build number 17A577)
  • Click "Import" and browse to the IPSW you downloaded
  • At the bottom, of the screen, click "Retain User's Data" and then click "Flash." If you don't want to do an upgrade and instead do a clean install, I think you can choose "Quick Flash Mode" instead.
  • Turn on Find My iPhone after the upgrade is complete.
The whole process takes about 30 minutes. Don't freak out when your phone restarts with a white screen and says "Attempting Data Recovery." It's just part of the process. Everything seems to be working fine for me.

Updated to ios 13 via 3utools and it worked flawlessly, just selected retain user data and that was it.

Will stay on the apple logo for a bit and then show a white screen saying attempting data recovery but after that it rebooted and everything worked fine on my XS Max. Nothing had been lost, deleted or altered.

Did you have to switch off Find my iPhone?

You always do this best while flashing. On Android and on iOS. You are modifying the firmware and in some cases bootsectors. In worst case scenario your phone won’t let you because a signature or ID has bren changed. Apple will never assist you getting around the activation lock.
So the safest thing to do when flashing is turn it off, flash, turn on again.

Takes 10 seconds but worth it. You don’t have to this if you use official methods like iTunes or OTA. But always when flashing user other tools. The tools usually remind you about it too.

I guess I don't understand the need, just stay on the betas. 13.1 is newer than the 13 GM.
The need is that if you’re on iPhone upgrade programme you can’t upgrade as the new phone will have iOS 13, so it can’t restore the backup of the old one running on a future release (13.1).

too bad I was impatient and installed 13.1.
