It has 8GB of built in flash memory... It's just not accessible yet. Some is being used for caching streamed content, but presumably you don't need 8GB for that.

I have a hard time believing that 8GB will be enough as apps take off for ATV2. Just my opinion and I'll leave it at that. I don't want to de-rail the thread.

Thank goodness I upgraded to the iPhone 4 over the holidays from my 3G. My 3G was so slow and it was very noticeable when typing using the touch screen.

I am also glad to hear about the Apple TV getting some updates. I do believe the device has great potential.:D

the first iphone had 4 gigs and they still sell iphones with 8. i think it will be fine.

Looks like AT&T is giving us the shaft again. Instead of Internet Tethering, it now says Personal Hotspot and you have to call or visit their site to set it up.

Why am I paying for unlimited data again?

well I downloaded 4.3 last night off dev site an I don't have personal hotspot and the new ringtones seen in 4.2 have disappeared so back to 4.2.1 I go

so back to 4.2.1 I go

have fun with THAT. Took me 3 hours yesterday (I'm in europe, so yes, yesterday) to revert back to 4.2.1 because of the skype.app not working under iOS 4.3

Also; personal hotspot on my 3GS is just the "internet tethering" menu-string renamed to "personal hotspot" - no wifi-tethering here.
(in other interesting news: in the phone's console log I saw that my carrier allows hotspot usage but limits the number of simultaneously connected devices to 3)

i really didnt understand what changed? i used to connect via internet tethering. now this time there is shortcut at main settings menu and new name as personal hotspot. there is no wifi sharing. just usb and bluetooth just like before. is this because of i m using iphone 3gs? on iphone 4 is there wifi option?

Can someone confirm if the iPad 3G can be used as a personal hotspot? Or is that feature confined to just iPhone's?

Has anybody tried to downgrade iOS 4.3 to 4.2.1?
Does Skype work on iOS 4.3?

1. yes - had to downgrade with jailbreak tools - as you cannot downgrade the baseband
2. for me skype did not work, hence the downgrading

Ok, thank you. I'll try removing LLB from iOS 4.3 IPSW and then update while preserving old baseband (in case of future downgrading only - phone is factory unlocked). I'll tell you the result this evening.

Install under Windows??

Hi All,

I have a developer account but don't have access to my MBP for the next few days. Has anyone tried installing this under Windows and if so, did it work or is it restricted (as previous) to installing under OS X?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8C148)
That sucks.... I've heard a lot about people in Australia getting screwed when it comes to purchases. Video games and stuff.

It makes sense, it's expensive to ship to the farfar land. Especially the downloadable apps...

Don't be a victim. Before the iPhone what you walked out of the phone store with on day one was the phone you had until you decided to do a hardware upgrade a few years later. There was no way to upgrade the software or the hardware without tossing the whole phone. I'd typically go five to seven years with the same cell phone and never give it a thought.

Your 3G iPhone still does everything you bought it for, and maybe even more.

You are correct. But I think the iPhone 3G shouldn't be compared to previous generation of phones with which it has very little in common, or to other iPhones.

It's going to be a long wait for the iP5... :eek:p

Has anybody tried to launch Skype 2.1.2 on iOS 4.3? Maybe you've got this version on your hard disk or Time Machine's backup...

Anyone else notice a developer icon in settings right below app store? One of my iPads w/4.3 has it and one doesn't. Any idea how to remove it?

Tried it - doesn't work... And I had just installed it on my backup iphone to see the difference before reading that Skype don't like it. "Missed it by THAT much!" I'm travelling and need skype... :(

I know I should mess with the betas - I'll learn one day. Now I am trying to get one of my phones back to the old iOS.

I did my update via windows worked fine only I was missing the new ringtones from 4.2 and the personal hotspot option was there to start with but then disappeared.... will have to try again tonight on my macbook.

The beta seems to be in good shape from my scientific 15 minute experiment so far. :p

Only had one laggy app open/close animation so far. A marked improvement over 4.2.1.

help please??

hey guys, so i found the 4.3 beta ispw online and got it all downloaded but can anyone help me out and register my ipad's udid so i could try it out? i am really excited for the multitouch gestures and everything so i would really appreciate it!
