So....it's been a few days?... Do we have the all clear on batterygate? Will I finally have a fully working iPhone that doesn't require a charge every few hours?

Someone please tell me it's all ok.

If you have restored your phone as new, and not installed any apps, and have not set up any mail and you still get the high idle drain-take it back, it's not going to be fixed via 5.1.

If I do that, I might as well buy an old Nokia.
I need emails and my other phone features that I have come to rely on for the last few years. My iPhone 4 didn't have this horrid battery and if it is truly a software problem then apple need to deal with it a lot quicker than this. If its hardware then obviously they will try and hide that fact. Sigh.

I'm at 50% battery after 12 hours being unplugged running 5.1.

If 5.1 does not solve my battery problems (I am down to 51% with 1h53m of use, not even on 3G) I am returning the iPhone4S.

This is turning out to be a horrible phone that has iPhone 3 battery time written all over it.

Me too. I'm getting maybe a little better usage than you but about the same.
If 5.1 doesn't do the trick then I am going to try a restore to new and 5.1 again. Then I am going to return the phone if that doesn't work. It's just unacceptable that it's taking this long for a fix if it is indeed a software problem.
