Apple Seeds iOS 6.1 Beta 5 to Developers

Just curious why there weren't any release notes for Beta 5? Could this be because it's only a time extension to Beta 4 rather than any big fixes, changes etc?

I think the word is, there was a mistake seeding the beta. It was supposed to be a GM release, but it came out too early as a beta. (Which would explain the problems downloading/installing) something went wrong with apples servers.

Exactly. And that's what I love about apple. It always works, so when they do change it, you can be sure it's not just a gimmick (cough cough, S-Voice)

The only problems I am aware of now are with the iPod touch 5.

Despite what others have said/reported, I haven't had any problems with maps at all. (Granted I don't use it very often) I do prefer the looks to google maps/ios 5 google maps.

I'm not bashing apple. All I'm saying is where are the times when apple was the innovator? It seems like they are playing catch up now, not android.

I feel that iOS needs invigoration. I went so far as to use a Nexus 4... then realised just how good iOS is.

Updated to 6.1b5 this morning on my Sprint iPhone 5. Had an issue where cellular would show connected, but I couldn't call or text and signal bars were jumping a bit. Did the ##Update# and that fixed my issue. Thought I'd share just in case anyone else had issues.

Beta 4 is due to expire in two or so days so your phone could end up unusable till you are out and able to update it.

Just found 6.1 beta 5, and not a developer. Apparently you don't need you UDID registered for this version. So I'm gonna give it a shot

I'm noticing everything is smoother. Faster connection to Wifi, faster loading of pictures from iMessage/MMS conversations... More to come.

I noticed that. The first update from 4.0 to 4.1 improved speed, update from iOS 5.0 to 5.1 increased speed and it will be the same on this update.

As a developer I have been using iOS 6.1 on all but one of my devices. Aside from iTunes poster artwork showing on the wrong movies via Home Sharing on my iPads (turning off home sharing and restarting on my iOS devices fixes it), the update has been pretty stable.

Argh. That home sharing artwork issue has been around forever and Apple refuses to fix it. It's been flaky for years. Ridiculous.

I gave up on Home Sharing. I found Audiotap is massive improvement.

Has anyone else noticed that one thing that Apple did NOT Update is the Apple TV 2nd and 3rd Generation IOS Software which is still @ the December 17th Beta Release? Just FYI.

Sure, when they release the jailbreak, which the dev team has said won't be until after the public release of 6.1.
