Recently was October 2012, when he was put in charge of all design (Hardware and Software). Seriously, what part about this don't you understand?
Can we please stop fighting about app icons for a phone? This has become incredibly blown out of proportion... IT'S A SQUARE PICTURE ON A SCREEN. That's it! I can't believe people are saying things like "Oh my god I'm switching to Android because of the new icons." Seriously? Grow up.
A lot of users have found it was because of their having restored a backup that they encountered heatup / battery drain issues.
Again: DO NOT RESTORE PREVIOUS BACKUPS!
Guys, I just don't see the icons changing in any substantial way at this point. Go to www.apple.com. What's the first thing you see? It doesn't seem like something they plan to change.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Apple don't tend to do dramatic u-turns when they make design choices, especially ones so heavily promoted thus far. I really do hope they tweak the icons, but I'd expect the transparency, dock, and folders will certainly remain as is.

I'm not sure it's the icons exactly but it's what the icons represent, apple losing their "taste"
No - I'd love to see a modern, clear and consistent interface. I think the over-use of transparency and Gaussian blur is the worst aspect of iOS7. Could someone please explain why blurring content and blending it with chrome is - "deferential". It is such a common anti-pattern, early Linux desktops did it, early iOS X did it, then Microsoft did it with Aero. All these legacy OS's made the same mistake and subsequently dialled back on it, or in the case of Microsoft got rid of it all together. It looks dull and archaic.
