Hey, I noticed on the "slide to unlock" screen it now shows the album artwork. Is this new? Or is that an option somewhere (and if so, where?)

Clarify on something for me here...

Why would references to Blu-Ray be in iTunes? iTunes couldn't play DVDs, why would it play Blu-Ray discs?

Is that an implication that Apple is killing off the DVD Player and incorporating it's features into iTunes?

I hope so! This would hopefully let me keep my DVD images organized in a library which could be mounted and watched through Front Row. This would be much nicer than having to open one manually and then open Front Row.

If this is the case, this may make DVD ripping as natural as CD ripping.

No tethering for me, but MMS still appears (doesn't work though) and I didn't mess with my carrier file. Noticed a new keyboard, it's transparent.
pxxz

Good find! Im not sure I like the transparent keyboard though...might get too distracting depending on whats under it!

iTunes can play recent DVDs that have "iTunes Digital Copy" on there. Blu-ray discs also have an MP4 file for the playstation 3 - I presume iTunes will be importing that too.

But is that possible with the current superdrives built into Macs?

my sound goes completely out, as does vibrate after I launch any non Apple app. I have to restart the phone in order to get sound back.
What the heck?!

If Apple have come up with a way of "ripping" DVD's and Blu-Rays into digital copies that keeps all the legal eagles happy, I will be very happy. I'd love to be able to copy DVD's to my iPod as easily as I can do it with CD's.

tethering in beta 4 with iTunes 8.2

I'm just trying the tethering hack for the first time with Beta 4. It looks like they may have closed the hole with iTunes 8.2. When i try the option-check for updates route, the ipcc file is grayed out (not selectable) so i can't update my phone with it.

As i mentioned first time i'm doing this so maybe i'm missing something (please enlighten me) but option click and selecting a file seems pretty straight forward.

best,
-graham

That's nice, Macs will finally be able to play blu-ray discs. However, I just got a brand new iMac 09. If they come out with a newer iMac 09 w/ Blu-ray drive later this year, I might stab myself. :(

I have no idea what you are referring to, as far as i know, every beta so far has been installed using option+restore, not option+update, I think you might be mistaken.
I've been doing option+update for all of the 3.0 beta and it's been working fine. So have my beta testers...

Apologies. Ignore me, i messed something up in the repackaging of the ipcc file. it remained thinking it was a zip.

Sorry for the noise.

Tethering

Confirming that tethering works with a custom IPCC file, on US AT&T.

MMS seems to work too. Happy hacking!

Can anyone send me the carriersettings for Tethering and MMS for Mobistar (Belgium)?
We can't get it working here ... :(

iTunes to airport express

I wonder if this version works with the Airport Express as iTunes 8 and 8.1 had me having to roll-back to 7.7 to stop the continual playback dropouts

Have you tried to update your Airport Express firmware to the latest version...

Firmware 6.2 doesn't work properly with iTunes 8

Freakin Awesome.

That is pretty cool and about time.

Well I never noticed that! It could have come in handy a couple days ago when my friend snatched my iPhone and decided to take 125 useless pictures! I wasted my time deleting then individually...
Anyways, I'll be downloading the beta this morning! :)

The skeptic inside me tells me that this message more than likely references the digital copies of movies that are coming on disks these days rather than actual playback but one can still hope.

All my friends are MSN users with PCs and getting someone to change IM programs is even harder than getting them to switch to Macintosh.

Adium.
