oh sooo for this beta you can't simply do the update option you must restore?!

I have no idea what you are referring to, as far as i know, every beta so far has been installed using option+restore, not option+update, I think you might be mistaken.

Looks like my biggest fuss about beta 3 was fixed here... my iPhone no longer drops wifi when it needs to do a wifi sync with, say, iStat or Wallet. Sweet.

Phone has no hacks, etc, Just Apple approved patches and now OS3 betas 1-4. Are you sure you have not patched/hacked your phone before?

I have but with the past restores I had to reupdate my carriers patch. With this one it just worked and the UI has changed. Maybe I made a wrong assumption? Maybe it works because I'm on fido's network?

So... does beta 4 work with, lets say, a FM transmitter for a car? didn't seem to work with beta 2, for me...
I'll let you know tomorrow as it's late and I don't want to go outside and test it :p But it better not break that or 2.2.1 here I come!

for some reason I was able to option+update for the first three betas and had no problem, but your suggestion was greatly appreciated as it worked without a hitch! thanks!! :D

Weird, i tried option+update on the first betas and no luck...and everything i have read has said option+restore, but i guess we just have different luck?

Why would references to Blu-Ray be in iTunes? iTunes couldn't play DVDs, why would it play Blu-Ray discs?

It perhaps has something to do with the new 'share' feature found in QuickTime X as well. Imagine... iTunes able to transcode your Movies into your iPod as well. :)

for all those with 3004 errors - allow port 8080 outgoing on your firewall/router...

could the whole bluray thing have to do with the 'digital copy' that comes with purchased movies these days? doesn't the digital copy go directly into itunes.. if there was a bluray that had the digicopy on the disk wouldn't itunes need to be able to recognize it?

first thing that came to my head..

How did you manage that? Apple claims you cannot downgrade once running OS 3.0

Apple makes a lot of claims, it's true-ish. You can downgrade the firmware via DFU mode in (except on 10.5.6 new MB/MBP/MBA cause of the USB chipset there won't allow it) Mac or Windows, I use Windows, and I'm not sure how, but Quickpwn triggers it as it tells you to restart the phone and then it works just fine except it's on the baseband from 3.0, oh well, I'm on AT&T anyway so w/e.

Umm, there's a ton of tutorials on youtube, that's how I did it anyway.

I installed b4 and wow. so far so good. safari is very fast. mms is still working for me. the SMS typing doesnt seem to be laggy anymore at all.

one issue i had with b3 was it wouldnt connect to my wifi when i paste in the key. well that issue is fixed for me in b4. so far, so good....

Carrier patch

Coudl you please PM me the info on the carrier patch? does in enable MMS as well?
Thanks

No tethering for me, but MMS still appears (doesn't work though) and I didn't mess with my carrier file. Noticed a new keyboard, it's transparent.
pxxz

iTunes tells you how long a restore will take.
1yte

Option to have voice memos.

The skeptic inside me tells me that this message more than likely references the digital copies of movies that are coming on disks these days rather than actual playback but one can still hope.

LOL, wow. I never thought any mac user would use MSN.

All my friends are MSN users with PCs and getting someone to change IM programs is even harder than getting them to switch to Macintosh.
