iTunes 8.2 also seems to support DVD Gracenote information. I guess this means the end of DVD player in Snow Leopard, and a positioning of iTunes more towards Windows Media Player. With the Gracenote support, it could mean support towards indexing of your DVDs; I would be surprised if it allowed full-blown ripping of them a la Handbrake/ Mac the Ripper.

EDIT: Never mind, retroneo beat me to it. I still think a move to replace DVD player would be good - an all-in-one playing for dealing with all find of media would be an intuitive move - DVD player is a mild anachronism.

Where can I find the carrier settings for Tethering and MMS for Mobistar (Belgium)?
Or what do I need to change in it for letting it work ... ;)

I first did the usual OPTION + UPDATE, it went fine. But my iPod App did not work on my 3G.

I then did a full update and setup my 3G as a new iPhone. Now the iPod App works just fine

MMS (T-Mobile Germany) also worked after using the .IPCC Update, had to restart for the MMS Options to appear though.

I downloaded and upgraded iTunes before I tried to install Beta 4.

It put my phone on the pink "connect to iTunes" screen while updating, then before it finished verifying the phone with apple it stopped gave me an error and quit. Now I'm stuck on this screen. I can't restart my phone, it just goes back to the pink screen. If I connect it to iTunes is just says its in recovery mode and attempts to restore it but fails 'prepairing iPhone fore restore"

I've tried restarting my computer, restarting my phone. Nothing is working.

And yes, my number is registered with apple.

What do I do?

EDIT: Nevermind I forgot to try and restore by selecting what ipsw I restore with. I'm an idiot.

That's nice, Macs will finally be able to play blu-ray discs. However, I just got a brand new iMac 09. If they come out with a newer iMac 09 w/ Blu-ray drive later this year, I might stab myself. :(

I guess this is probably a joke, but calm down dude! If it means that much to you, sell it and buy a new one.

I'm sure you can live without it :)

For those experiencing 3004 error

I was getting the 3004 error on restore, too. It seems to be something to do with a web service call - changing my Internet connection seems to have allowed the install to go through. I also tried and failed several times on the Internet connection that eventually succeeded, so maybe there's a little bit of a problem at Apple's server end refusing connections, or something.

Persistence and a clear (non-firewalled) net connection seem to be the key.

Missing Cellular Data Network

Disappointing that the Cellular Data Network screen is still missing.

I need to enter the info in this screen to access the data (that I am paying for) but this bug doesn't seem to be a priority to Apple. (Or maybe for some reason they are probably protecting AT&T and forgetting there are other users other than those in the US)

I downloaded the iphone Config Util but I am not too sure what I need to do to send the info to the phone. If some kind sole could send me some detailed (step by step) info on how to do this it would be appreciated.

I also had trouble installing the update with the 3004 error and had to revert to my Vista pc to get it done. (But it might have been a firewall issue as mentioned previously...)

Edit - Worked out how to use the iPhone Config Util so have data again now...

Glenn.

BD support!! Yes! Finally! (hopefully)

I'd rather have an external BD drive than one built into my iMac anyway really, as then i can plug it into whatever I like. :)

Somebody posted this screenshot:
1yte

Is that a progressbar mod, or some new skinning in iTunes 8.2?

Tethering

The tethering option definitely still works. Just typing this I found that you don't have to have a space between words for predictive words to work. Which I find very useful.

Traveling. Help, thoughts.....

Have a question.
I am traveling through Europe.
I have a dev. account want to update to beta 4 but not sure if I can do that since at home I am on ATT and out here ( right now on N Telenor(Norway))
any thoughts?
Would hate to lose my phone service out here.
Thanks in advance.

I have no idea what you are referring to, as far as i know, every beta so far has been installed using option+restore, not option+update, I think you might be mistaken.

Beta 1 I got errors trying to option-update, and had to restore on both my iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G. Beta's 2 through 4 on my iPhone the update works. Beta 2-3 on my iPod touch worked and am currently most of the way through installing Beta 4 on it.

Not sure if it was in the previous release notes for beta 3, but in beta 4 it says the following re: mms and tethering.
Quote:
MMS and Tethering
During the beta period, MMS and device tethering are not supported, and should not be used.

I noticed that in Beta 3. Not sure about Beta 1 or 2

It seems to be a bit nippier all round, but the iPod app is being fussy now, and its been fine before, it randomly started showing all songs with Unknown in all fields and no album art, had to select another song instead of skipping to stop it.

I'm happy they seem to have fixed a problem with landscape texting, where you couldn't use the magnifying glass on any other lines but the first in the text, though!

When I go I into the Genre tab in the iPod it says I have no music. WTF? I do, and every other list shows it all. Ugh. What's really weird is that it worked after I installed this release and only now has stopped seeing my music.

updated

Hey i just updated, and at the end got the pink screen and an error 10 on itunes... any ideas?

Trying to restore now.

EDIT: couldnt get it to work with beta 4, keep getting error 10.
Had to restore back to beta 3 and it works fine again :)

Trying to restore now.

I had a 3002 error. Seems like it was something to do with a firewall at my end, and possibly a service not responding problem at Apple's validation servers at Apple's end. Persistence paid off for me.

EDIT: I've just had to do the restore again (for unrelated reasons), and it failed. Then I changed network interfaces (dropped off my corporate ethernet and on to the open wireless network), tried again and now it works. So, it almost certainly isn't Apple servers and almost certainly has to be something to do with the network request getting through from my end. Let's hope Apple improve the messaging in iTunes on this before it goes live, though.
