@#3 - It gives people more incentive to buy a 3GS if the 3G doesnt have it. Either that or the 3G hardware prob couldnt handle it?
How about if it just fixes the Nike+ issue that freezes the phone if the screen goes to sleep while doing a workout. That would be friggn wonderful
I am thinking 3.1 will be out in September to give AT&T time to get MMS and tethering ready and to coincide with the new iPod Touch and its camera and mic. I also think the new iPod Touch will have a compass chip so it can utilize the Augmented Reality APIs baked into 3.1!
AMEN to the customizable volume tweaks!!! I have wanted this for nearly two years. It's so annoying that everything is affected by the volume control. Ringer volume up, speaker volume has to go up too. WHY??? Asinine.

No data or details to support this, but I think this will be the final release before it goes public the first week of August. At least I hope that is what will happen.

I update mine on a PC. I use Ultra ISO to extract the DMG file, its a free program if you just search for it.
Thanks man... its worked out great had to figure out for a while but still i am able to get that ipsw file from the dmg
I think that's one of the most exciting aspects of the technology - it's so new that we can't even imagine what uses developers are going to dream up for it. Same with the GPS apps that have come about in the past year - there have been quite a few uses that weren't immediately obvious to me when it was first made available.

Isn't it such a crock that they left out video to all of us? I think the faster processor warrants the 3gs' price tag alone, not video. Oh well, that is why there is cycorder.

From what I saw, even cycorder couldn't match the speed that the iPhone 3GS's camera had going. It is possible Apple just don't want people bitching about the choppy and bad quality videos that it would've generated on the first two iPhones.
