I didn't see the 2 issues that bother me the most listed among the fixes, however, it is a long long long list and I could have missed it.

1. Copying files from the Mac to a Windows share results in 0kb files and "resource is in use" when trying to delete the file

2. Performance issues using VM Ware Fusion or Parallels. The XP images now just crawl, they used to be much faster in 10.5.1

That should do it for me.

Apple need to put more effort into Graphite, for example in Pages' Inspector

All you have to do is hit the MUTE key on your keyboard before shutting your Mac down and I'm pretty sure it will be silent on the next start.

At least my Macs always are, but they are all PowerPC. Is this an Intel-only issue?

I think the easiest way to take care of the startup chime is to use software such as the StartupSound preference pane to disable the chime. Other software like MacPilot can also do this. Then you don't have to worry about what your volume was at prior to shutdown or restart.

I had to use software such as this on my G5 Quad. The "Late 2005" PowerMacs always play their startup chime through the built-in speaker, and completely ignore the main system volume settings.

If it is the graphics that are slow (jerky etc) then you might have hit the same bug me and a few others have. I've spoken to VMWare about it but they apparently cannot reproduce it.

I've also reported it to Apple, and went through a number of reinstalls/reimages to isolate the issue (it is caused by LGU 1.0)). Since the end of February though I've heard nothing.

Indeed !

My (and many others') major issue with excel windows freezing my Macs graphics (only solved by a hard reboot) is not listed. The freeze is caused by leopard's graphics update after 10.5.2 and has clearly been pointed out as Apple's fault. Fix this Apple, it is unacceptable.

Have you applied Office 2008 service pack 1? I know MS said it was Apple's fault, but I have not managed to freeze my system in that manner with Excel since applying the service pack.

Either way, it was still a few months in the making, and that's what scares me about Apple's update policy. Just how many bugs will be introduced this time with 10.5.3 to be with us for the next 3-4 months?

Hopefully Airport and nVidia driver issues will be addressed.

What nVidia driver issues? I just received my 8800GT today in the mail, but I haven't installed it yet... What is going to happen?

Software Update still tells me my software is "up-to-date". I think they should fix that. "Your software has an impressive number of bugs but you'll just have to keep living with them for now."

Hopefully with 10.5.3 the original will be easier to deal with.

As for 10.5.3, I just want a simple Firewall GUI that lists each port and whether it is open, closed or stealth. How hard is that? A flat list? Please!?!

I've had some kernel panic situations and a wake from sleep issue. Nvidia makes the crappiest drivers.

The unsual Safari crashes.... I hope Apple can fix Safari once for all....
Especailly the random crashing of safari on every 3rd or 4th site I visit?

And most importantly hope the default view options for finder gets fixed too. Hate changing the settings for every single finder window.

Stupid question but help me out. when Apple "Seeds mac OS x 10.5.3 to Developers" What exactly is going on? They send out the proposed release and the developers mess around with it to see if there are bugs?

I, for one, am looking forward to a stable Leopard. My all-Mac company has been suffering massively with Leopard. Yes, we should have waited, but Apple has never released such a crappy OS before. We will not make this mistake again.

I really hope 10.5.3 is the production ready version of Leopard. The bugs and crashes are unforgivable.

Microsoft has said that, to fix the problem of windows not going into their proper spaces, they would have to re-write a lot of their UI code. That's what they get for using a ton of non-standard programming conventions

Microsoft took forever with Office 2008, and I can't believe how bad it is. Performance is still a joke, and issues like this make Office feel like a recompile.

And this fact is the only reason why Leopard's problems have been ignored in the main stream media: Apple, for all of their quality issues--both software and hardware--still pale compared to the crap that Microsoft ships.

But this is not a position to build an empire on.

They send out the proposed release and the developers mess around with it to see if there are bugs?

Yes exactly. Well, they don't send it out, they make it available for download on a special site with a password, but same thing.

And as well as testing the OS, it gives developers of third party apps such as Transmission or Delicious Library a chance to pre-test their apps with what will be the new version of OS X and make any changes if necessary for continued compatibility.

When will Office 2008/Expose/Spaces finally be fixed?

I'm not speaking in reference to Office, But I think the buggiest thing I have seen in Leopard is Spaces working properly with multi-window apps like Final Cut Studio etc.

Can't wait for the update. Seems like they are really trying to get this one right.

ah crap. i hadn't noticed that one... now it will be all i see.

Haha well, if you are going to be that picky then they need to make all the scroll bars in Leopard consistent to because right now they are NOT. lol
