Apple Seeds Mac OS X 10.5.4, Final Release Expected in July

There are some alternatives:
- use one .Mac account with mail aliases. Have one alias for work, and the other for personal use. Then use Rules to filter the mail into separate mailboxes.
- use multiple calendars in iCal for work and home

or make one username for work and one for home.

Thanks for this! I'm mostly just trying to arrange for push calendar sharing for me and my employees. My personal email is with .mac, but our office has email through Google Apps.

If I only ran one mobileme account, could I specify a home calendar to only push to my iphone, and a work calendar that would push to my employees' computers & iphones?

I guess the 10.5.4 development is slowly wrapping up already? Only a dozen fixes? Can't wait for Snow Leopard. :)

While MobleMe is a terrible name, I am looking forward to checking it out...

Like all the other "terrible names" Apple is picking, you'll get used to it.

/MacBook Air, everyone laughed at that, remember?

I hope they fix the issues they caused in 10.5.3 with FF3. Its preventing me from upgrading. Yes, I know there is a work around but I am not able to recompile FF3.

Can someone with access to this seed let us know if it provides support for running multiple mobileme accounts on one user account?

I would really like to buy mobileme for both my self and my small business, but I would need the ability to run both simultaneously.

Maybe a family pack will work for you?

When you accept these TOS and complete the MobileMe sign up process, you become the MobileMe "Member Account" holder. You are required to select a unique name upon sign up that will be used for your account (your “Subscriber ID”). You may be permitted to purchase and add additional “Sub-accounts” (also known as “Family Member” accounts) to your Member Account. You must select a separate Subscriber ID for each Sub-account you create. You are responsible for all activity that takes place on your Member Account and any associated Sub-accounts.

I've had a number of times when InDesign CS3 would not come back from being hidden, and I was forced to shut down the machine. Just happened with Photoshop too. Force quitting will almost work: the proc is no longer running in Terminal:top, but appears still launched in both the force quit list, as well as command-tabbing. All this is new since 10.5.2. Re-launching produces an error, or no reaction at all.

Gee, I'm glad the updates are New Feature driven.

I don't see how to do this. I show myself as signed in with my primary account and the only option is to Sign Out not sign in to a secondary account.

If there is some other way let me know...

I currently have DotMac. I'm looking forward to MobileMe giving me a lot more value for my dollar, plus some features I though I would never get to play with being a home user, namely push technology.

I have a question about push: does it basically mean that if someone sends me an e-mail I receive it instantly? Does the other user also have to be using push technology?

It does not matter where the email comes from - Apples server that receives the email pushes it to your email applications.

I hope so...

Woo, 10.5.4!

Will it make Safari snappier? :D

Man, I sure hope so. I've used the new Safari versions on Windows and my Mac and the performance is JUST AWFUL!

Sometimes pages are slow to load, sometimes the pages won't load at all, startup times are abysmal. I'd take any improvement.

Yes, my install of Leopard was a "clean" install.

However, using the new Safari on 10.4.11 is still awesome. Go figure...

Wouldn't ATV need a software update for MobileMe?

maybe - but all it's going to do is change from the .mac to .me in the photo subcategory.

What I would like as a change for the ATV is when I'm browsing movies by scrolling left to right, the cursor goes all the way to the right before more movies show up. I can't see what movies are "on deck" so I have to either click on the right button once each for each movie or go back to the left after the movie goes by. Does that make any sense? Probably not - sorry

But this is beyond the scope of this thread - I'll stop now!:p

Thanks! Right now I have Mail set to check for mail every 1 minute, which actually works fine....I wish they had an option for the RSS reader in mail to check every minute--the smallest increment is 30 minutes.

Looking forward to using mobile me, I might finally get some good use out of my .mac I have been paying for

It was a pain to upgrade to 10.5.3 but I'm not having any problems with it after a clean install.

What are other users encountering?

No issues at all. I wonder if I just don't push my system hard enough to find problems or am just extremely inattentive - but I have *never* had a problem with an OS X update (from 10.4.3 to 10.5.3). I always feel amused by the "10.x.x Killed My Mac" threads but I guess I've just been very lucky so far. Touch wood. :)

Clean installs and then upgrading to the combo is not what one truly calls an ``upgrade," unless you consider going from 10.5.2 > 10.5.3 ductaping.

Looking forward to the release, but why has Apple been rushing through all of the software upgrades? I know Snow Leopard will be coming next year, but it seems like they've kinda given up on quality with the current OS. I think the overall quality of Leopard is not as great as Tiger regardless of the new features.

Maybe this time they'll actually fix Spaces instead of saying they fixed it while actually making it worse.

I hope they still find time to fix bugs. I'm getting a lot of intermittent issues in 10.5.3. Those graphical corruption issues that were complained about in 10.5.2 but I never saw, I now see every few days and really badly, especially in Safari.

Every few days stacks become unresponsive to clicks. Every few days sleep doesn't work first try. Every few days my colour calibration resets after waking from sleep. Every few days... :(.
