MacRumors has received word that Apple has seeded a new version of Mac OS X 10.6.1, Build 10B504, to developers this evening. The new build, which has appeared approximately one week after the initial seed of OS X 10.6.1, carries only a single increment in build number over the previous build.

Build 10B504 reportedly addresses only two documented issues, one related to crashing of Desktop Services in Finder, and a second related to excessive "dyld shared cache" Console messages. The dyld Console entries issue was the only known issue detailed in the seed notes of the previous build, and no such known issues are documented in Build 10B504.

Is crashing Desktop Services that really annoying thing where the Desktop icons can't be clicked/selected etc. until you've logged out and in or 'killall Finder'?

They seem to fixin' stuff that I am not having issues with. So far, SL mostly works fine for me. I did have one message popup on my iMac telling me an error occurred and needed to be powered off. The keyboard and mouse were dead until the reboot.

My mini has not experienced any problems.

Guess I am lucky or not "power user" enough.

I guess Apple is rolling it out to users in waves. I'm annoyed that MacRumors can post about it before I ever get the option to download it...

I hope they fix the opening of multiple items.

Previewing multiple pictures, or selecting multiple videos to open in VLC will result in maybe 3 or 4 getting queued in, out of 15-20 total.

I hope they keep improving Safari. I just had Safari crash (all together, not plugin) twice in a row while trying to reply to a Facebook message. (No other tabs open) Pretty pathetic.. blah!

This could be something a VLC update will fix.

Frankly, I hope they fix my only bug:

I CAN'T RUN SOFTWARE UPDATE!

In fact, it's an Installer bug. Every package will crash Installer early in the process, after a package is selected and (in the case of Adobe Flash updater) after the initial dialog appears.

This is an Epic Fail, catch-22. I installed over Tiger, but it's a really standard Mac Mini, a pretty boring system with no third-party peripherals. (Seriously, I wish they had left the "Archive and Install" feature in there ... this would have avoided the problem, amirite?)

CK.

PS, Safari crashes on launch too. I've sent a ton of crash reports :)

My Finder problem with 10.6

I have this problem on two of three Macs I installed 10.6 on:

Look at folders in your home folder in Column View. Try dragging one to your desktop. It doesn't MOVE the folder, it COPIES it.

This happens even after the archive & install.

I have this issue on my 2.23 Air and the 2 x 2.8 Mac Pro. The 2.1 20" iMac does not.

This has nothing to do with users. They are seeding to developers, only developers in ADC program can download this.

+1 ;)

Need Logitech to get their act together and bring updates to their mice range. Its driving me nuts.

Should be out this month, hopefully. it is the only software that isn't 64bit on my mac. Until that is out, I am still running SL in 32bit. Little Snitch finally has a beta of 2.2 that is 64bit capable.

Why don't you just archive your own stuff and do an erase and install instead. It is much better this way, i think you just have a corrupted install since you upgraded from Tiger.

okay, so 10.6.1. will be available via Software Update together with a new iTunes (Cocoa based?) by tomorrow. It seems to be a smaller update that has been prepared for a while and includes the stuff we shall not see before tomorrows presentation.

Let's hope 10.6.2 will be out soon to fix the ton of bugs, inconsistencies, annoyances (huge grid icons for app folder in dock) and missing features (small example, Quicktime X: A/V controls).

PS: I really want to revert to the old Exposé which properly cared about the window size when scaling and kept the important windows larger than smaller controls (VLC, Safari downloads,...).

On my MacMini CoreDuo 1.83, the hard disk spins out of control lately, I'm doing nothing, special... like writing this email, it stops mid sentence and the beach ball suddenly appears and all you hear is the hard disk spin, spin and spin and spin some more... and all the while I can't do a thing!

I don't know why but it's getting worse and worse...

anyone know of a fix or a reason for this?

Logitech problems in SN

+1 ;)

Need Logitech to get their act together and bring updates to their mice range. Its driving me nuts.

I had the same problem with my MX Revolution Logitech mouse, but this is what I found in a forum:

Righte-click the LCC Installer (ver.3.0) and select “Show Package Contents”

Navigate to Contents > Resources > Logitech Control Center.mpkg and run this file

The installer will run and then request a reboot.

It worked great with me. Still the Expose and Spaces did not work. But there is a workaround: if you COPY (not move) the Expose and Spaces files from the Utilities folder to the Applications folder, everything will work great.

Now I am using my Logitech mouse flawlessly and the wait for the official update is more bearable:)

Is anyone else by me having trouble airport? Ever since I upgraded, I along with a roommate with the same MacBook model bought summer '07 cannot access the internet from our network using an airport extreme. I can connect to most other networks, some using airport expresses. Why are we both having the same problem? My roommate also has a new iMac, and that works fine with the wireless network. I have done a factory restart on the router as well.

thanks
