I hope it'll have an update for Safari. Some page elements on some sites no longer render--like on Ebay.

PS: I really want to revert to the old Exposé which properly cared about the window size when scaling and kept the important windows larger than smaller controls (VLC, Safari downloads,...).
Same here. If it's bothering you, please write about it on Apple's feedback page for Mac OS X. If enough people write about it, it makes the issue a priority for a fix (according to some Apple engineers, or so I've heard). In the past, issues that raised a big stink (Bluetooth audio in particular) caused a lot of people to write in, and tweaks were delivered regularly until the issues were resolved.

That goes for everyone, of course. If there's a bug or an issue that you're not happy with, write in. What do you have to lose? Heck, most of you are already writing up the complaints here - just copy and paste (and perhaps add a little more detail) :p

Hoping it helps people with troubleshooting - I'd like to report that I have not had any of the problems that have been listed in this forum so far. Snow Leopard's been like a dream for me. I went back to my list of gripes and problems I had when Leopard came out and they have ALL been fixed since then.

I have had a couple of glitches. When I network and delete a folder across the network Finder doesn't know where to put me since the folder I was in doesn't exist anymore so sometimes it kicks me back to the root of the networked computer.

Mail sometimes will save a draft of an email even though there is another version that sent.

Other than that no problems and I love the speed, look, feel, etc. Hope other get bugs worked out.

??
Why don't you just archive your own stuff and do an erase and install instead. It is much better this way, i think you just have a corrupted install since you upgraded from Tiger.

Sure I can. Though it's harder than it used to be, so I haven't bothered yet.

Think about the "typical" user, whom I'm rooting for. I want this Snow Leopard to work (yeah, Apple flew me to WWDC a couple of times, so I owe them).

How are they supposed to do "archive and install" if even I find it a pain in the ass? :)

I'm going to wait until 10.6.1 or 10.6.2 to see if they fix this bug. It's pretty serious: Roll-back territory is the possibly most important type of bug.

Hopefully a bunch of debug log reports will help make a difference between now and then ... ?

CK.

Good to read that Apple are working on a new update. Honestly, I haven't found any problems with my Snow Leopard install on the MacBook Pro. :D

I guess Apple is rolling it out to users in waves. I'm annoyed that MacRumors can post about it before I ever get the option to download it...

Did you read the title? It has been seeded to developers ONLY. In a similar manner to iPhone OS 3.1, which has only been seeded to iPhone developers.

i hope they fix issues with ctrl zoom. Thats the only issue in SL that really bothers me.

What issues are you having with control + scroll zoom? It seems to work fine, if not better for me. I suggest the following alternative:

Enable Zoom: Option + Command + 8
Zoom In: Option + Command + (+)
Zoom Out: Option + Command + (-)
Disable Zoom: Option + Command + 8

Hope this works for you!

"file in use"

While dragging a new version of an app into the Application folder, I got the Finder move pop-up telling me it could not complete the operation because the file was in use. In fact it wasn't and secondly, I thought Snow Leopard was going to correct these messages by telling us who was using it and it didn't. I did an option-command-escape to bring up the Force quit window and the app in question was not running in that view either, so, while it was up, I did a Finder restart instead and then tried my move again and it worked.

Weird! Maybe that will be fixed in 10.6.1. Otherwise 10.6 is working beautifully for me.

The most buggy software I've seen from Apple...

I'm not sure what's happening at Apple with OS development (perhaps they're focusing on the iPhone too much), but IMHO Snow Leopard is the buggiest software I've seen yet. Specifically:

* Remote volumes disappear when attempting to access them from a save dialog. Canceling out of the dialog and application and then re-invoking fixes the problem.

* Odd problems with various installers (e.g., iLife '09). The installers hang, need to be "force quit"-ed, then re-started.

* Random windows opening. For instance, I was attempting to install iLife '09 and it caused iTunes to open. What the heck is going on here?

* I exported some video with chapter markers and found out later the chapter markers typed in English were appearing in Chinese. Unicode problem?

Granted there is a lot to be hopeful for. Some speed improvements, less load on the processors when working with video, etc. But, did it really need to ship early in this state?

I for one hope that the "seeded update" has more in it than what's been mentioned. Additionally, I hope that there are some good software and QA developers at Apple working hard to make it right asap.

Today I've also received a "survey" which seems to imply they're going to start removing software. The survey was asking a lot of questions around iDVD. I happen to use the tool quite a lot; I hope it continues to work and be supported.

Also, what's happening with tools like Logic Studio. The recent departures of a senior engineer from that project leave me worried for the platform. Is Apple becoming focused only on the iPhone? Perhaps they should change their name to Apple Telephone & E-mail.

My recommendation to those of you out there still considering installing Snow Leopard... wait a bit longer until there have been several patches.

+1

I did an upgrade and had the spinning beach ball when opening safari and mail.. said screw it and did a 7-pass format/clean install and everything works flawless.

No safari crash, no mail crash, no problems loading pages, it just works. :)

10.6.1 must fix the fan/heating issues that many users are experiencing when playing flash video and video chatting in iChat.

Whenever I'm zoomed in on something for a good 30 seconds, the cursor will jerk to the bottom of the screen for no reason, even when I'm not even touching the mouse or typing. Thanks for the tips though, I'll have to try them out to see if they work any better.

It will be nice if this comes out by the end of the month. We need stability issues addressed. Would like more printer drivers from HP included. ;)

....and as long as we're complaining...

I forgot to mention the issues I had with printing to my HP laser printer, but now that you brought it up (and this is intended to perhaps help others with similar problems), I selected the alternative (not recommended) driver and was able to get my printer working.

Is this Apple's Vista?

My "WTF Apple, Please fix this List:"

1. Fans and heat on laptop. Especially when playing video in Safari

2. Safari gives the spinning pizza randomly when opening new tab or window.

3. Sound randomly becoming muffled.

I want Java 5 back. Sure, I can copy it over from Leopard and get it going (and have done so) but I would rather have it installed and kept up to date as part of my Snow Leopard install. I like Java 6 and all but I have stuff which relies on Java 5.

Wirelessly posted (HTC_Touch_Pro_T7272 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11))

i think its funny how all of you complain about bugs...but not a single one of you are experiencing the same bug as another.

"my" bug: when using spotlight finder crashes, dragging the dock and almost all other applications with it... if i clear the search field directly after getting the reult i wanted it is all Ok...

yey

What about switching from Windoews using bootcamp to MAC OS X the system preferences sound for internal speakers does not save every reboot.

I have to lower the internal speakers everytime I restart to go into MAC OS X from WINDOWS.
When I come back from Windows to mac os x I look in the system prefs under sounds and the damn internal speakers are set to full volume again, this wasn't a problem in the previous build of MAC OS X.

I don't think it's bootcamp.

PS: I am using Optical Audio BTW

Apple Mail not working

I installed this update and Apple Mail did not work. It came up with a message saying it won't work with this version so I reinstalled the previous seed 10B503 and Mail works again.

Quirky Problems - Snow Leopard

I have had a couple of glitches. Mail sometimes will save a draft of an email even though there is another version that sent.

Me too - [1] mail puts extra copies into the draft folder.
[2] forgets Time Capsule wireless password.
[3] wireless signal to MacBook Pro fluctuates (was stable before).
[4] mail did not like pasting in a specific weblink - crashed.
[5] snow leopard forgot that I DO have quicktime installed - had to download Perian 1.1.4 to make movies play.
