Let's say you are 6 folders deep and you want to move a file from the 6th level to the 5 level.

Column View lets you do that in a single window with one drag and zero clicks, with no delays or spring-loading needed.

"Cut" would be a fine option to have as well. Why not, since some people would like it? But OS X does have very good ways to handle the task already.

Does the itunes pref window look like this currently? Or is it just if you run iTunes in Leopard? Seems odd you just get an icon but no text underneath, unless you click it (Podcasts currently clicked)

it's optional to have text always displayed or not when customize toolbar for all apple apps in leopard

Could someone confirm if updating to this current version is possible through software update? (from version 9a499)

I've heard both....i'd likea definitive answer.

it's a seed not available through software update

Looks like Apple legal found the Leopard movie

Good thing I downloaded it before. =/

Can anyone comment on the minimum size of the dock? In every screen shot the user has the dock way bigger than mine. Is the minimum size the same amount of vertical pixels as it is in Tiger?

You can scale it really small. I'm not sure if it's exactly Tigers minimum size, but it definately comes very close, if not the same.

What do people not get about the missing "Cut" option???

With spring loaded folders is could take anywhere from 20-60 seconds depending on where you are and what's in your side panel.
.

What? You must be using one of them lisas or somethin'. ;)

Get your point but exaggerating ain't helpin' any...

The Desktop background looks like the Enterprise 1701-A going to Warp from Startrek V & VI

For us Trekies lol you will know what im talking about :D

Having never even seen a mac until I was 18, I am definitely no Mac fanatic, and have pretty much used windows all my life. I switched a couple of years ago, and one of the first things that I really loved was the lack of maximize. With windows, you are expected to work in a maximize environment, and that is how programs are designed. This makes it terribly difficult to use 2 programs at once. For example, I often want to convert a tree diagram on the internet into an omnigraffle graph. On windows, I would be Alt-Tabbing all the time. On my mac, having the image on the side is natural, and makes things far easier.

Also, you realize that most documents are meant to be longer (height) than wide, and so maximize is useless, since the edges are really of no use at all. I will agree that there are times maximize could be useful, however, I still would not want Apple to adopt a maximize button because developers would start making apps assuming that people only want their application on the screen at any one time.

I see what you're saying, and this is an often cited reason. However I use Logic Audio and Photoshop with predominately landscape photos... so width is of the utmost importance. Also the beauty of expose (when used with hot corners) means I have no need to line up two windows to drag and drop.

Actually I'd go one step further and say I wish all applications had a fullscreen mode ala photoshop / iphoto! I want to focus on what's in front of me, instead of cluttered windows in the background. Maybe it's just me though. :)

I'm a hardcore defender of Apples zoombutton-concept. But I must say, you are right.

The point is to offer fullscreen, where it makes sense and to offer a specifically designed interface for fullscreen-mode.

I think fullscreen the windows way is bad, as it just blows up the actual window to fullscreen. An interface has to be designed to use that way, like iPhoto does. Or look at Frontrow and iTunes Coverflow in Fullscreen. Or the iPhone-Apps. Not really apps to be productive in, but you may catch the point ;)

My main concern with Leopard is that Apple still refuse to allow users to select different options in a popup dialogue box (or whatever they call) using just the keyboard.

e.g. When you have a option to either Save, Cancel, Shutdown, etc. You should be able to select the different options presented to you by using the Tab key and just hit Enter to select it, without having to using the mouse as well.

You can do that. You can even do it in Tiger already.
Tab works fine for me. Then hit space to push the button. I agree, it's weird that Enter doesn't work, but the functionality you are looking for is there for a long time now.

It doesn't work in every instance in Tiger, and it doesn't work at all in Leopard!

Theres an option to control more dialogs with the keyboard. Try Ctrl+F7 to toggle to this setting.
Does it work now? I can't remember a single dialog that didn't work for me.

@ghettochild: I like the large shadow :p
They make a nice 3D-look. Unfortunately the dull window-theme they are using now doesn't fit, but the shadow is nice :)

That setting can be changed in the keyboard pref pane, at the bottom it reads "Allow full access for" adn the options are "Text boxes and lists only" (default) and "All controls" (and this options lets you move buttons with tab and space, e.g.)

Hi all,

I've skimmed through the posts on this thread and I didn't see an answer to this, but I was wondering if there are any rumors about a new Macbook release to coincide with the release of Leopard?

Cheers for any replies
