Look at the date of Mavericks on your App Store purchased list, also in your screen shot, the date says Oct. 4.....

This is also what I am getting, I would suspect that you cannot get the download until you see a later date.

My hope is that this was not really supposed to happen yet, and Apple will release an update along with the official release. (I REALLY don't want to do another clean install... :( )

The original GM was released Oct. 3rd.

Is this a ploy by apple to disable all those silly people who got the first GM from torrents? At the moment they will be stuck on build 13A598. Maybe forever!

I hope so. Nobody should blame Apple for doing this, if it is the case.

One thing is for sure anyone who has invested a whole lot of time installing and setting up their new Mavericks install has wasted it. That is, unless you're happy being stuck on 10.9.0 until 10.10 comes out.

They could just buy Mavericks from the App store and then be fine..

Also, highly likely the source they got Mavericks from before will have this update as well.

Stop spreading misinformation. You don't know for sure.

Ha! I'm sure there will be torrents of 13A603 soon enough... Not quite forever ;)

I have 2.7ghz i7, 16 gig RAM, 512 GB SSD model. No I don't, I have tried it with and without graphic switching - both runs crap - mission control is like 1fps so jerky, launch pad is also jerky to open and lags between screens. Scrolling on browsers is also horrible.

I will typically have a browser with 30 tabs, photoshop with a few images I'm editing and iTunes open (sometimes dreamweaver and sometimes Skype and that's about it - so really shouldn't run bad but it does) - but this is my third one with the same issue so i'm assuming it's a software problem.

My old 2010 MBP without retina runs perfectly. and that's only a base model 13" laptop!

You might try the obvious and close most of those browser tabs. Each open one is constantly updating in the background, which will have a significant negative impact on your OS. In addition, having an app like Photoshop open with active images is yet another anchor on your speed.

Your comment "so really shouldn't run bad but it does" is totally inaccurate. You are pushing the limits, especially with a rMBP that uses more resources than the old versions.

Close down programs you aren't using or, at least, close the active files within those programs unless you need to access them frequently. In your browser, use the bookmarks bar - you can create folders on it to keep things organized and handy.

Give it a try and, after you close up all those tabs and photo files, do a restart to settle things down for your poor overworked MBP.

I figured it out.

Just like with other installs. If there is an install OSX app on any drive you won't be able to download it again. I've done this same thing several times over the years.

Simply delete the older install osx app and then you will be able to download the new version. It just worked for me.

Make sure it's gone from the trash too because the appstore will also look there.

What are you talking about? A pirated build of this new one will no doubt be released within a week, days, or hours, or otherwise they can just get it from App Store when it's released. That won't wipe out all installed applications and demand lots of time setting everything up again.

Thanks for this! It worked instantly. My installer was on a completely different drive and not in my applications folder, but apparently that still causes a problem.

I'm running the previous GM, it was given to me by a Developer. How can i install the new GM?

Thanks.

Did you not get any thanks? I thought MR count on tipsters.

It's not about getting a thank you. I don't care about that. I am just wondering why Macrumors had to repost old information. There is also no need to basically have two threads discussing the exact same thing.

Just go to the Appstore, click on the purchases tab and find Mavericks. Click on the download. This will download the latest GM seed and you will need to upgrade your existing installation.

They always merge these things so maybe ask a mod?

Mavericks isn't in the App Store for me. The file was given to me via a USB from an Apple Developer.

You mean MS, the smaller company?

Actually the way Microsoft names its betas is much more meaningful. Having a release candidate describes much better the state of development.

Then you are out of luck. You will have to wait till someone gives you the new version, or Apple makes it available on the AppStore.
