People need to quit talking out of their @$$

To everyone saying the original GM won't get 10.9.1, you're wrong. Dead wrong.

Just like how you can upgrade from 10.8.0 to 10.8.5 with a combo update, the 10.9.1 update will be a "combo" update for both GMs.

Apple isn't going to leave developers with a dead end GM. Once they call something GM, it's a GM.

Well I am going to wait until public release, buy it, DL it and make a flash drive and painfully upgrade 3 computers again. Hope it is $20 or less :)

Software update will not work on the build you are running.

how do you know that?

it was said that version 98 (1st gm) required a clean install. After a few days, apple released an app store update...

I bet you are wrong, and an update will be released, again, through the app store.

Been running the previous build on a 2010 1.6ghz C2D 4GB RAM 11" MacBook Air with minimal issues and decent performance. Installed the updated build overtop with no issues.

Physical or non-physical goods are the same. Both involved manpower, resources and talent. Your logic is flawed.

They are not equivalent per se... When people holding physical item, the economic utility is greater than virtual stuff...

For example: you feel more happy when someone gift you a computer than someone gift you a OS (let's assume computer cost same as the OS).

Mavericks is the greatest OS release for years and offers some great features:

I am pretty sure this is really underwhelming for you though...
You forgot one thing:
- More HDD space for laptop users. ML would create sleep image that was the exact size of your total RAM. For me, that meant 16GB of SSD space gone forever, or so I thought. With Mavericks, sleep image is now just 1 or 2GB, probably due to memory compression.

I'm STILL... just perplexed and pissed that I can run Mavericks on my Macbook Pro 4,1 with a Core 2 Duo CPU & 4GB RAM, but my Mac Pro 2,1 with 2 XEON Quad Core CPU's & 13 GB RAM won't. Crap!!! I need to sell this dinosaur fast!

apple policy :)

just search a little, and you can find a sollution (mod the installer)

What?! I just did a fresh install on my Mac Pro as the GM "update" FUBARed my system. I just sat down from painting and installing custom closets, I'll read the facts now, but I'm assuming this is merely a build for easier installs with little to no difference with the GM.

Yup, did this with Leopard years ago by modifying the "requirements" and installed it on an eMac. Funny as it ran blazingly fast.

Yep those who think they are running the GM ahead of everyone else have to start all over again with a clean install :D

You won't get any software updates regardless. So unless you're happy to be stuck OS X 10.9.0 for the duration, you're wiping your machine and installing again.

Damn it.

This is interesting to note, after I "updated" the GM build, two of my four SATA HDD's began experiencing bad sectors in OS X, but in Windows, not an issue. To be safe, Western Digital swapped them with no questions asked. I installed it on another system, clean install via USB, and the same thing happened on another drive.

Anyone else experiencing anything similar?

Post a link? As far as I know it's 100% impossible. And I should know, I'm a MSP and qualified engineer. I'd like to see how someone claims to have done this.

I just did, following the posts. Super simple. Go to the purchase section in App Store and click Download. After the 5G installer is downloaded, it will auto start and just install it over current GM. After about 40 minutes, done.

The first time the installer ran, it said my disk is corrupted. And it restarted my MBPr and installer started again. Then everything went well. I'm writing this post on updated GM.

Screen shot attached.

If you're running the first GM, and want to update to the latest one, goto the App Store - Purchases - re-download the GM [ date will show as October 4 ] and install.

All your data will remain preserved [ unless you choose not to ... ] and the re-install takes about ~ 45 mins.

Once done, you will have the latest build of the GM.

Count me as one of those who believe this build has code on it that supports unreleased hardware. I'm guessing this one will install on the new Mac Pro while 598 will not. When mavericks goes live, they'll link to the same software image already uploaded and it went live to distribute to all the Akamai servers now to be ready Tuesday morning.

10.9.1 will harmonize build numbers.

it's 100% possible, in fact I just did exactly that many times, starting from 2001. but hey, I'm not qualified engineer, so it's just a beginner luck :)
sadly, it looks like you have no idea what are you talking about.
BTW, I installed new 13A603 build on top of 13A598 build without any single issue. (it took about 40min)

I'm trying but it kicks back an error.

How long does propagation take?

I still do not see it in the App Store updates

Do ya'll think Apple:apple::apple::apple::apple: will address the different build numbers on the October 22nd date?

Delete your old Mavericks installer and try again

It's deleted off my SSD boot, but you just reminded me. In the past, if it is anywhere on your system (one of my SATA HDD's has 1000+ app's including OS X install files), it will detect it.

Thanks for the reminder! :)
