What are the improvements?

No idea, I didn't try it out yet. I just remembered reading a thread on October 10 in which users discussed the issues that plagued the previous build of GM. So I responded on there saying that Apple had to post a newer build fixing those vital bugs. Otherwise, not only the users would have been pissed off but it would have gotten bad reviews against Windows 8.1.

People should not download these silly things. The torrents could get corrupted.

Thats what MD5, SHA1, CRC32 etc is for. Amazingly a lot of these silly people not only know of these tools, but know how to use them. Who wouldve thunk it.

But with news of this latest build, who wants actual real information about changes/improvements, or about Apples plans. I'd rather read half truths and opinions presented as hard facts, far more interesting!

So me updating from the app store over ML isn't a good idea when this comes out? Just wondering what everyone thinks

No. It is okay. That's the official method Apple intended, because there is no official way to do a clean install since you have to download it from App Store and install on a mac with a working OS X.

The clean install method is the unofficial method, but preferred by some forummers as they want to make sure no files from the previous operating system are leftover.

Both is fine.

finder 3 fingers swipe gesture

Hi to all, I need Mavericks for the improved Multiple Monitors function. But until latest beta, there was a big problem for me. The "3 fingers swipe gesture" , which goes back and forth in Finder files, was broken.

Does anyone who installed the golden master if it is fixed? Thank you!! :D

Restore gives you the latest build

Hi Folks, if you reboot using cmd-r, and then choose the reinstall you get the new build if you want it....

Yes, you are right:

I had 1.5GB dedicated to the HD4000 in my mini on Mountain Lion, and I've had Mavericks dedicate variable amounts. Right now it's 1GB, so actually less than the system info reported in 10.8. Both numbers were with 16GB RAM.

I can confirm that installing the new build over the old 10.9 GM is possible.

I just did that on my machine. I put it into applications folder and run it.

How do i clean install the new gm over the old gm if there is a bootcamp partition on my mac? Does it wipe the bootcamp partition too when i clean install the new GM?

Reboot your Mac and go to the recovery partition by holding Cmd+R before the system starts. Go to disk utility and delete the partition. Start the installation

This isn't recommended. You're probably leaving behind a whole lot of crud and broken code because you're using an unofficial, untested upgrade path. And I am sure this will degrade your Mavericks experience. Until Apple releases an official upgrade (they won't), you should absolutely be preparing to do a clean install and starting again.

You took a gamble Apple wouldn't release a fresh GM build before releasing to the public, and you lost. My advice is don't take shortcuts now and degrade your experience.
Since the upgrade from 10.8 to 10.9 13A598 is a much greater step forward (and seemingly not leaving behind cruft making the system unstable) than 10.9 13A598 to 13A603, I can't see how this could possibly be a problem. You'll probably be replacing a system with one with minimal changes. People having done this don't seem to have problems either.

I'd say this is a fine way of going forward, and if there are problems, there is of course still the option to do a clean install...

Okay so we just get the new GM from the App Store and install it over the old GM and we're done upgrading to the new GM right?

Right!! Just did that on three machines. No problem whatsoever and I am at 13A603

I wouldn't worry about it. Updated three systems from ML to Mavericks GM & now 603 without a problem. Just make sure you have a backup in case though!

The 13A598 build had a few issues I filed with Apple:
- Software update bugged and started showing incorrect updates
- The remaining install time was incorrect
- A kernel panic when you're running out of memory

Not sure what they fixed in this release, but I think it's mainly because of issue 1, because without a working SU people would need to reinstall the whole system with the 10.9.1 update. I guess they put in a few small fixes for other things as well that otherwise would've been moved into 10.9.1.

To everyone saying the original GM won't get 10.9.1, you're wrong. Dead wrong.

Just like how you can upgrade from 10.8.0 to 10.8.5 with a combo update, the 10.9.1 update will be a "combo" update for both GMs.

Apple isn't going to leave developers with a dead end GM. Once they call something GM, it's a GM.

But how would they go about updating 2 different versions of a GM? Doesn't the updater assume the it's the final GM that it updating? If it updates the first GM won't you still be missing the fixes that the second GM got?

I'm running 10.9 v 13A598 on my mbp. Downloaded the "OS X Mavericks" from the app store again and the info.plist file says it's 13A602, not 13A603 that everyone here is quoting. Why is that?

I'm STILL... just perplexed and pissed that I can run Mavericks on my Macbook Pro 4,1 with a Core 2 Duo CPU & 4GB RAM, but my Mac Pro 2,1 with 2 XEON Quad Core CPU's & 13 GB RAM won't. Crap!!! I need to sell this dinosaur fast!

I'm confused by your statement. I installed Mavericks GM on my Mac Pro 1,1 with 11 Gb RAM without any trouble. This unsupported computer works just fine.

Unless Apple makes some combo update which does update everything in the first GM as well, updating to 10.9.1 may not be possible.

Is anybody else missing the Messages share button in Do Not Disturb, now? I still have Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, but Messages is now gone. (Was there last night on the first GM).

Well, since you're an expert, I'm sure you know what you're talking about.

You can't build a version of the operating system on a machine running a version of the operating system that you haven't yet built.
