Every time I see an update for AppleTV, I hope and pray Apple has added iTunes extras back into the mix. One thing I loved about 1st gen AppleTV.

Will this sort Keynote?

Has anyone any idea whether the new build is likely to resolve the current issue with Keynote/Lion and the dreaded beach ball? I was considering going back to Snow L this week but will hang on if its likely to be remedied. Views, thoughts appreciated...

New in iOS 5 beta 8:

- hide/unhide native apps
- 4 new wallpapers
- copy/paste lyrics in Music app
- option to disable Spotlight Search; most likely in exchange for an upcoming new feature
- Newsstand 'Store' button is live; tapping on it takes you to iTunes Store then errors out
- brightness is easily adjustable to 25%, 50% and 75% thanks to markings
- Photo Stream photos are finally deletable
- select all / delete all option in Mail app
- basic rules/filters in Mail app
- send to groups in Mail app
- set any song in Music app as Alarm Clock sound
- block specific or non-Contacts or all incoming calls
- password-protect any native app
- option to clear all notification pop-ups on the lock screen without needing to unlock the phone
- option to clear all notification pop-ups in the Notification Center with one tap
- in Messages app in the conversation view, swipe left/right to go to the next conversation thread
- flick with one finger from the very bottom to trigger multitasking bar

Screenshots coming soon.

I'd kill for that last one.

the iWorks beta is the iPhone/iPad apps not the mac apps

I doubt it, the GM will be next most likely during the Apple event sometime on the week of Sept 19th-23rd.
This. If Apple is going to announce a "one more thing" feature, such as the rumored Nuance integration, the GM can only be released after the announcement.

We are not going to see the GM before the announcement.

they wouldn't leave nuance for one more thing

Doesn't matter. Whatever they have planned for the Next Big Feature, whatever it is, Apple isn't going to put it into a beta that's released BEFORE the announcement. There are too many people dissecting the betas for Apple to take a risk like that.

The GM will come out AFTER the announcement. Of course, if we're unlucky, we'll see another beta instead of the GM.

one more thing is generally left for new hardware not necessarily iPhone 5 specific

Umm no. Its been pretty split between software/hardware. The iTunes store, safari for windows, FaceTime, selling movies through iTunes and iTunes Match were all unveiled as "one more thing".

Yeah, that's basically the wish list a lot of us have. If I could flick for multitask bar, I'd only have to hit home button to exit apps and turn on screen, which I'd love.

Well with ios5 you have the four finger sweep up to bring up the task bar and you can sweep left and right to move between apps plus do the five finger pinch to return to the home screens.

In combination with the smart cover I never use the home button!

Way to go man... this is honestly the best feature list I think I've ever seen composed by one person and not one item that I disagree with...

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A5313e Safari/7534.48.3)

I'm surprised we haven't seen many apps that are updating for ios 5 yet, but I guess that's what GM is for right?

there have been a few apps adding compatibility but theres no official updates allowed till iOS5 is officiailly released

iPhone 5 is new hardware last I checked...

Apple hasn't had a decent "1 more thing" in a LONG LONG LONG time. This would be a good one. I just couldn't see voice search/commands being tied only to the iPhone 5. Maybe not the 3GS, but surely the 4 could handle it

Okay, I'll bite on iTunes Match one more thing being a good one. Face Time was expected (and nothing new that hadn't been done before, just implemented a little better.) Leaks kill the momentum on "1 more thing" sadly. I miss the jaw dropping excitement of days past.

The latest iOS beta is still buggy as hell especially the music.app. I wouldn't be surprised if there were at least a few more releases.

And what are they going to do about the new voice capabilities? Ship them without letting developers test it? Maybe they'll save voice for iOS 5.1.

iTunes back to music

I would like to see iTunes get back to music only. If you think about it iTunes, which was for music now runs all the iPhone and iPad apps. It's too much clutter. The iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch need their own separate piece of software.

I know the reason Apple hasn't done that because iTunes is their link into the world of Windows and they probably don't want to make Windows users download another piece of their software.

I know what you mean regarding the clutter, but some might argue that having four (or more, if you are talking about it not handling video) different pieces of software for what one can do now is more clutter, not less. I use iTunes for music, tv, and movie purchases/rentals, to organize my ripped movies and CDs as well as music downloaded from other sources, and to sling music and video around my house via AirPlay. I can't even imagine if all of the functions of iTunes were split into their own pieces of software.

Greetings,

I know that at sometime before I read about possibly being able to make custom SMS tones. Is that still in the current beta? Or was I just Trololol'd? :(

Thanks!

PS: I want to see the new phone  lol
