With this file system update, does the update process convert the file system or does it wipe and install afresh after formatting?

I've heard this is really buggy and people are speculating it won't ship in September. Odd, for a "catch-up" on the fundamentals release.

Any views from people who have used the betas?

In a decade of testing MacOS betas, High Sierra has been the LEAST buggy in my experience. I've had much more trouble with iOS 11 – not with bugs per se but with apps not functioning correctly with iOS11 betas.

Surprised to see the golden rule of 'never release a beta on a Friday' not being heeded by Apple, but I guess this close to September 12th they've got their engineers working 24/7 anyway.

I'm on a 2011 i5 3.1GHZ iMac running El Capitan with no issues. But I've been really resistant to dare upgrading any higher. Anyone else try higher (and yes I know some options wouldn't be available)?

I downgraded to Sierra because of the APFS-mess. Is there any way to install it keeping JHFS+ without using an HDD and cloning it to SSD?

First time since Yosemite DB1 I had to downgrade. :(
i ave no issue with APFS, indeed is super fast. You need to understand this is a beta! Anyway you can continue with old JHFS+. It will ask about APFS during first boot. I suggest you to do a backup then install and upgrade to APFS which is incredible.

Using PB7 on a late 2015 iMac w/4.0GHz i7 & 24GB RAM - seems to be working great.

I have been using it since day 1. While the first two were horrible. I have had zero issues since then.

With the number of people not seeing this, is it possible it’s an update just targeted to specific devices?
No, same thing happened on Monday. It just took forever to roll out to everyone. Not sure why as like someone said, iOS updates usually hit everyone simultaneously.
