Would like to know if they fixed the 4k 60hz driver, possible to send me the link to try the beta ?

I'd like it if my Mac Mini didn't kernel panic/:apple: bluescreen/freaky colored lines and reboot itself once every 2-3 days for no apparent reason. I had my iMac running for months without rebooting on ML.

Just install the mavericks seed configuration utility from the mac dev center and then get the beta from the mac app store. If that doesn't work, use the direct link from the apple developer forum.

In the next few days there may be other unofficial "sources" on the net for this build. You should avoid these though and just get it direct from apple. Those other methods can be fraught with danger - corruptions like malware inserted into the installer for example. I wouldn't trust them.

Only thing that I have a problem with time to time is quick look. Hitting space bar over an image causes the pin wheel to pop up for a quick second before displaying the image.

My 2009 iMac with SL and HDD functioned better with quick look than my 2013 iMac with MAV and PCIe SSD.

SL is less a dog.

Mavericks is many things but slow isn't one of them.

Inconsistently buggy would probably be the better phrasing.

I don't have the slowdowns, but I went from a bottom-of-the-like 1st Gen MBA with 2 GB of RAM and a 80GB PITA PATA drive running Lion pretty much straight into a 2012 Mac Mini with 16 GB and a shiny new SSD fusion setup running Maverics. So, I guess you could say it might be there...I just don't see it ever.

But the bugginess...eh... oddly glitchy, but not workflow ruining..ly. Not quite... just a lot of random things I haven't seen before in OS X from graphical oddities to Mail quirks to scrollbar problems...only in some PDFs in Preview...only sometimes, and pinwheels show up when it's not...actually busy. Really quite strange. The worst being a few tab crashes...and that's mostly in Chrome, also I suppose Finder crashed a few times already (didn't even know it could until Mavericks) but they popped back up pretty much where I was before. Just kind of...strange.

But slow? Not something I've noticed.

I wouldn't recommend them, especially if you can get it from an official source.

That being said, I admit to delving into the Mavericks beta because it was too tempting to pass up (albeit with a fresh install on an external).

I don't see it, I'm registered, but not on the $99/year paying developer account.

To get apple's betas officially, you need to register with the mac dev center and/or the ios dev center. In the case of ios, you also have to register a device as well.

If you would rather get this stuff elsewhere illegally, you run the risk of ruining your mac or ios device - not to mention security risks. It's best to avoid them.

So if you want official mac os or ios betas, I continue to say it's best to get it direct from apple.

But even with official beta versions, I would say back up before installing.

I'm hoping for the return of the animated Time Machine menu icon while it's active ( still works that way in the Finder ) and also the colored icons in the Finder window sidebar. I'd really like to know who decided to change them.

Folks in these forums here and here might disagree

This lol, i have SL on HDD and Mavericks on SSD and SL still more responsive!
thats crazy. i have now downgraded on ML (i use it only because some apps works only in this ****) Craig Federighi is the worst.

Here's hoping that Apple is paying attention to all the p***ed off users who are howling about them pointlessly removing things like 'Open Folder In New Window' as an option and the ability to tag folders & files with coloured lablels (not near-invisible dots) and they reinstate these long-standing features in one of the updates.

I'm curious as to where the 'Open Folder in New Window' functionality is missing for you because I can still access it by:
-Command-Double-clicking on a folder
-ctrl-Command-O or File->Open while holding the ctrl key
-Context menu->Open in New Window (or Tab)
Note: you may have to change your Finder preferences to disable 'Open folders in tabs instead of new windows'

Also, I agree that the previous finder labels were much more visible, but I would love to hear some suggestions on how they should have implemented them with the new model given that they now have to accommodate the ability to assign multiple labels and tags to files and folders.

Tags and labels could just be separate.

Or

Folders could have a setting to show or hide labels (the label color would just be the color of the first tag).

MacBook Pro Retina 15" (Late 2013) NVIDIA Driver Update Please!

I've got my fingers crossed for an updated NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M driver to support 3840 x 2160 (60MHz) monitors via the Thunderbolt 2 port.

Currently the MacBook Pros with Retina can only support a 3840 x 2160 display via the HDMI port, but at a slow 30MHz.

That's a HDMI port limitation, not a driver limitation.

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6008

The HDMI ports in the 2013 Mac Pro and Macbook Pro Retina are v1.4, which has a maximum refresh rate of 30hz at those resolutions.

You'll need to wait for a HDMI 2.0 port for 60hz at 4K, or just use DisplayPort.

In case this hasn't been mentioned yet - the iSight camera issues seem to be fixed on my MBA 2013 - it definitely did not work on Photo Booth (and other applications that use a similar API) on the last few betas but now it does.

managed to get the link through the developer forum,

still no 60hz 4k with my GTX670

I think I'm getting some "subliminal flickering" due to the 30hz screen and our 50hz power source here (for my room light).

Are you sporting a highly-scaled screen? I love the improvements in real estate too, but I have to admit that it often acts laggy (especially with pictures) because of the resolution Bibbidi-Bobbidi.. Still, best machine I've ever laid my greasy fingers on!

edit: never mind, just noticed you were talking about an iMac.. No idea as to why that would happen to you :)

My only issue with Mavericks (on a mid-2012 13" MacBook Pro, non-Retina) is the following.

After a restart, when opening any Apple app, the app window flashes briefly on screen but then disappears. Subsequent clicks to the app icon (trying to have app window appear) does nothing. I have to quit the app in question, then open again, and then it works as it should.

Anyone else have this issue?
