Agreed. However, "golden master" refers to when they distributed the OS on CDs and DVDs back in the day (master disc image). Usually back then, the GM was the final version. It was a vestigial nomenclature that was no longer relevant, given the possibility nowadays to update software more quickly. "Release candidate" makes sense because it implies that, as a candidate, it can be updated if needed to free itself of any showstopper bugs, while master implies it's final.

But yes, I do miss the GM nomenclature. It's reminiscent of a simpler time.
Isn’t Release Candidate more of a Microsoft verbiage? Sounds icky to me, like maybe it’s a good release, maybe not. Good luck.

Not sure where all these problems people in here are experiencing. Big Sur has been smooth sailing for me the entire time on my M1 mini! Have you all submitted your bugs officially to Apple? Otherwise they may not know about them if it’s a super-specific use case. Apple.com/feedback

Well, if that fixes the BT issue then that's 1 of the 4 major issues with my new M! Mac Mini solved. Now just the screen saver bug, a time machine/spotlight bug and a LG 5k screen split issue to be solved from here. BT fix will at least make the Mini reliable.

No. The posts where not all in the same thread and I did not bookmark.

I asked 4 different members and each one said 11.2 fixed Bt problems.
Does it fix WiFi issues? I may actually consider buying a M1 device if 11.2 fixes the major issues.

There is a vertical dent in the screen right in down the middle so if there is a horizontal line across the screen it will dip down by a few pixels for perhaps a couple of centimetres. It's like an inch wide strip in the middle of the screen has just dropped by a few pixels. Can fix by unplugging the monitor and re-plugging so not a big problem but just one more minor annoyance.

The last macOS beta I tried was Sierra and I’ve not had the desire since. It’s not that it was a bad experience, it just didn’t anything exciting, might as well wait until the GMs.

Just updated to the 11.2 RC from 11.2 beta 2 on an M1 Mini. No difference in external display resolution options for an LG 32UL950-W. (Still showing 3008x1692, rather than 3360x1890 on a non-M1 device, for the penultimate scaled option.)

The operating system no longer saves the Open/Save dialog box size preferences and reverts them back to default whenever they are accessed. The original size is also too small for practical use, I Barely can see the lateral bar name items !!

Anyone know if the fix for ultra wide monitors is in this release? Sucks not being able to use full res on my Mac mini 1 and 49” Samsung without messing around with SwitchResX and swapping cables around every wake up from sleep...
