I finally upgraded my 2020 Intel MacBook Pro to Bug Sur last night and what a freaking disaster it is.

Only positive is that it seems to run smoother. Other than that it’s been one device after another that doesn’t work and requires voodoo to get drivers working. Fark this, that’s why I don’t have a PC!

very tempted to roll back to Catalina and stay there.

macOS Big Sur 11.2 beta 2 eliminates a feature that allowed Apple apps bypass third-party firewalls, security tools, and VPN apps. macOS Big Sur 11 included a ContentFilterExclusionList that let Apple's apps like the App Store, Maps, iCloud, and more to avoid firewall and VPN apps that users had installed. These apps were not able to filter or inspect traffic for some built-in Apple apps. That functionality has been removed in macOS Big Sur 11.2.

When macOS Big Sur 11.2 sees a release, Apple apps will be compatible with VPN apps and will no longer be able to bypass firewalls and other security tools.

Does it mean that my company will be able to see what websites I go to on Safari when I’m connected to the VPN after 11.2?

Hopefully 11.2 will fix at least half of all those bugs in fundamental basics (Finder, Textedit) that BS introduced. The days when upgrades were supposed to improve an OS or an app are gone, even at Apple.

No, it means what the text says. It's completely straightforward.

What I find amusing is that everyone seems to be taking Apple removing a plist file as meaning the code is actually gone from the OS. What are you all basing that on? They got caught. You don't think they'll hide the anti-filter better next time?

Wonder if this will fix the YPrBr colour output issues with some monitors...
I thought that was an issue with the color profile easily corrected on settings/display/color. I had a wrong profile selected and it looked weird, but fixed it in about 3 seconds. Also some people were complaining about color tones which was true tone on and set to warmest setting which looked awful.
Maybe you are talking about something else, but I’d look into that to fix your problem

I might go to big sur once they fix everything. The external display issues mean I won't be updating.

Got my replacement M1 MacBook Pro today after the first refused to have internet for more than 10 seconds.
Same issue with this one.
I’m hoping 11.2 fixes it or it will have to go back for a refund.
Seeing that that is not a universal problem. I wonder what is unique about your situation that triggers that. Is it all locations or just one?

I’d tell you to report it as a bug so the files are sent to Apple, but that would not work with no internet.

That is a color profile mismatch I believe. Settings/display/color. I’ve seen people fix it by selecting a different profile.

Just a bunch of Bluetooth mess all over. What you described + no connection to my AirPods Max and my Magic Mouse acting super weird.

Will do... Also a lot of issues with AirPods Pro and Max.
My AirPods Pro work perfectly

Usually back then, the GM was the final version. It was a vestigial nomenclature that was no longer relevant, given the possibility nowadays to update software more quickly. "Release candidate"
The GM, or how you call it "final version", was the "release" version. Which is not the same thing as a "release candidate", because a release candidate is, you might be able to guess, just a candidate. It has nothing to do with flexibility or the possibility to update quicker, as even now at some point they have to declare one of their candidates the release version and then publicly release it. It's the same as it has always been, except that they might no longer distribute that version again (as GM) before releasing it.

Wouldn't that be way too easy to spot if it were true?

how long do you think this will be in RC phase before RC2 or the public final release?

just updated my base M1 air, we'll see how bluetooth goes

its pretty wild CPU usage hasn't even spiked, first update on M1 machine from shipping version of 11.0.1

What gets me is so many of you are a pack of whinges about the software big Sur but you don’t use the beta and log any problems then come on this forum and Winge about it if you don’t Like the software go to PC and enjoy windows see how many bugs they have get a life.

I have had this machine since Monday and it would happen every now and then but I knew this update would be coming so it didn't bother me so much. I had a glitch sometimes with my display but that seems to be fixed too.

This better fix Bluetooth. The fact that every couple days it just stops working is unacceptable And super annoying. Good thing I have a five dollar mouse handy.
