Good call. I hadn't really considered that.

Not sure, but you might be thinking of the newer app offloading feature that deletes unused apps, but keeps their preferences and data in place in case you decide to use them later. It kind of does the inverse of purging app data: it purges the app itself, leaving its data and preferences in place so that you can re-install it without reconfiguring everything.
So what’s with the long delay loading old messages when scrolling back in my history?

You will have to excuse me for having heard that before.
I think to elaborate, and explain everyone's frustration with Apple lately, is the policy of underpromising and over delivering.

Apple used to do that, but nowadays it feels the opposite. We get overpromised and delayed/broken deliveries. As much as I love Apple, it's definitely a noticeable and disappointing shift since Steve left in this regard

Artificial delay to set expectations for iCloud fetching? They anticipated releasing this a lot sooner. I don’t recall when they added that scroll back loading. It definitely seems longer than necessary if loading from a local store.

There's also support for AirPlay 2 features
Where have a heard this before? Oh yeah, 11.3 beta! I would not be surprised if I have to wait for ios 12 to actually get this feature.

I running iOS6, is this beta improve bugs?

Improve bugs? It has squished/Eliminated 1000's of bugs since IOS 6, which was released in 2012, a year after you joined this forum. 6 years ago, a lot of bugs have been eliminated....

BTW - How did you get IOS 6 on your Iphone 8+?

Can we please get Apple to update the control panel so that we can turn OFF Bluetooth and WiFi, at least give us a press and hold option so we can turn them OFF completely, not just disconnect??

Pretty sure he’s yanking your chain. Lol.

The best message I would buy from iOS12 and macOS 10.14 would be that instead of adding more features to already cluttered interface, base libraries for iOS/macOS were refactored+rewritten using Swift and this has resulted in a lots of gain in performance and security. Also it would give us, developers, lots of confidence that Apple eats its own dogfood and does by its own message. macOS has seen some reworked code into Swift (Dock, Console and daemons), but iOS not at all.

I was thinking they should rewrite iOS using Swift as well, practice what they preach and all that. I believe Apollo and Telegram were made using Swift and they are two of the smoothest apps on the App Store. If Apple can make the entirety of iOS run as smooth as those two apps (yes, it still isn’t completely ‘smooth’, there are still stutters and frame drops littered around the OS), then that would be much welcomed because iOS hasn’t been truly smooth since iOS 6. Along with UI improvements, bug fixes and just generally fixing the mess of iOS 11 that’s all I want out of iOS 12.

It's funny, one of the big features on AirPlay 2 is multi-room audio. They act like this is some huge new thing, but we've been able to do this for years with iTunes.

I stream stream stuff regularly to multiple sets of speakers just using the Remote app to control my Mac that's in the office. Sound is great, stays in sync, and you can control volume of each speaker independently. I wonder why it's taken this long to give other devices this ability.
My thoughts exactly. Tested Airplay 2 with iPhone 8 running 11.4 béts 2 yesterday and still doesn’t work.

Its funny that you think its gone downhill "since Steve left" but others say "iOS 10 was the best ever...". Just curious if you think iOS 10 was pretty good compared to the iOS releases from say Scott (Steve was just the guy pushing everyone).

Shouldn’t have announced it as a feature last year though. Maybe as a beta instead of the intent was to flush things out via testing.

You should read up on the announcement of the OG iPhone and all the crap they had to do to make it work on stage. They weren't even 50% sure it was even going to work and from what I read, they were pretty close to not having that event until Steve said something along the lines of lets just do it. So sometimes things work and sometimes things dont... this is one of those things that didnt work out.. Apple may have had to pull some people working on this feature to put it towards a bug fix or something else that would have been delayed had they not moved people, who knows.

That’s a good explanation that should have been included in the OP.

You think we will be able to turn off centralized content? I hope so cause that’s Facebook google territory.
[doublepost=1523902042][/doublepost]

I was under the impression it already did this with all apps.
In your settings, you have the option to turn it off and on. So if you want to keep your messages on just your phones SSD, you can. But if you want them in the cloud, you have that option as well

I have read up on the how much of a tight rope it was for the original iPhone demo. So you’d prefer just announce everything they’re working on and we get it when we get it?
