There is. Apple doesn’t force anyone to update to Catalina.

they used to only put macOS in the app store, now its showing as an upgrade in software upgrade, and the red number 1 is showing in system preferences, so they kind of are forcing you really...

Hopefully they will resolve Apple Mail openings itself randomly and disrupting full screen gaming and workflow
I feel so cheated, all the complaints about bugs and they never happen to me. Makes me wonder if they are at all real or just made up.

It’s so annoying it has been happening to me for ages
Before Catalina? uh-huh, not a Catalina bug. Why honest it happen to me? Something must be triggering it

No, that is lame they don't force you to, just telling you is it is available is no where near forcing.

UGH!! What happened to my desktop wallpaper that I've had forever??

When I first upgraded to Catalina it transferred over. Now I have Catalina Island.

What happened to it? Where do I find it?

Side Note: if this basic element is messed up, I don't even want to know what else is messed up.
Desktop and screen savers?

Apple:

Here's the latest version of our new operating system...

...don't install it yet.

We have a couple more interim releases before you get the thumb's up.

Please stand by.

iu
huh?

For the most part Catalina has been ok. There are a few annoyances, but with every release it happens. I agree with the majority though that QA sucked on this release. My 2013 MBP requires frequent reboots now to bring back wifi and freezes... 10.15.X can't come soon enough!

Until the issue with Apple Mail randomly removing mass amounts of mail from iCloud accounts after the upgrade, 10.15.x is still not worth the risk.
Damn, never happened to me. How come all these issues never seem to happen?

The "iTunes elimination" is really a fake move.

Yesterday I clicked on one of my pre-ordered movies in the TV app and it brought me to the Music app showing me the details of that movie... So basically the new Music app is just a stripped off version of iTunes. Somewhat still has some iTunes genes in it...

Why do we need those separate app icons if their functionalities are still mixed up?
Simple. Haters were hating iTunes and demanded it be slimmed down. It was always fine for me. worked, did its job. The new setup is great though

Good luck to all you Catalina beta-testers out there (i.e. those of you who upgraded). I'm not touching this until at least 10.15.3. Catalina was such a disaster even through the real beta testing cycle. If Apple still pride themselves on quality (and make no mistake, their quality control has steadily been going down over the years) then they should change to releasing something when it's ready and not just because it's e.g. September.
haha. you are not a tester, but you say its crap. NOT! it is fine, very few bugs, it works great, the loud haters are usually not right

So you are not on Catalina and yet you post in here... wtf?

„you can now filter by Favorites, Edited, ?Photos?, Videos, or Keywords in the All ?Photos? view, and you can choose View > Metadata > Titles to enable titles and filenames in the All ?Photos? View.“

i want that in iPadOS - because i have an iPad Pro 😫

everyone by now should know not to download any Apple OS until it hits a .3 release. Doing otherwise just invites a world of hurt

If someone suggesting something by putting it in front of you is forcing. You may be in for something once someone literally forces you to do something in reality. js

I have pretty much done that since Snow Leopard, with no problems what so ever, Yet I have decided to wait to install Catalina. It looks a good OS overall, so looking forward to it once its got patched afew times.

When they announce Ranch, it’ll be fine too.

Yeah I don't agree with this at all, but opinions.

I just have quite a few Macs and have used Cat extensively throughout this developer preview and I'm thankful my experience is vastly different and nowhere near a world of hurt.

Ever since I've been useing Mac OSX from 10.4. on, Catalina seems to be the worst release so far.

Kernel Panics, UI glitches, mounting/umnoutning volumes problems, SMB connectivity issues, Mail.app crachsing, Mail search not working, Safari UI glitches, Finder crashing 2-3times on strat-up, super slow booting (up to 60-80s on NVMe 5K iMac), Find My.app just not workgin, and many more.

Small portion on my bugs below.

THIS IS JUST LIVING HELL!!

Still on Mojave , work as expected. Not really looking for an upgrade. All I care is Logic Pro and FCP.

Still getting the white screen of death, or black now when booting up with just the EGPU monitor plugged in.

Nope. Not in Desktop and screen savers. Gone.

Clean up on aisle 10.15!

Go use Linux Desktop, it's in perpetual renovation.

Never.

---------

4.47GB on this one 2019 iMac, shows 6 minute'ish download time here.
4.89GB on 2018 Mac Mini

For the past 4 years they have. Perhaps you're just too cheap to BTO to those models of iMac, Macbook Pro or Mac Pro.

Really? Apple is forcing you to go to System Preferences, go to the Software Update section, click on update, wait for said update to download, then click through the big update window informing you that you’ll be installing a major software update in Catalina?

If so, that’s pretty freakin impressive.
