Runs better/smoother/faster than most new-ish (less than 2 years old) Windows laptops I've used. It has never failed me. It's quite surprising actually. I have 8GB of RAM in mine and a 64GB SSD.

I know it does! :) Just wondering if engineers working in OS X are following the "good" path in 10.11.3 beta 2...

Might sound weird, but I am hoping this can fix my fan issue. Ever since I installed 10.11.2, I have been getting a weird clicking noise from my fan. Seems really odd. Anyone else have a similar issue? Is it crazy to think it could potentially be a software issue?
[doublepost=1452107831][/doublepost]I recommend that you reset your NVRAM. In my experience this is the usual solution to many power management and cooling issues.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did the SMC reset to see if that would help. I really don't know much about either, but I will try that tonight and see if it works.

Works out as about 550Mbit/s, now what’s odd is that Virgin Media are the Uks fastest and they only offer 200Mbit/s ???

Your broadband experience
starts here

Whether you like to pootle around or zip about,
choose from our up to 50Mbps Superfast Fibre
broadband or VIVID, our next generation optical
fibre, up to 100Mbps and up to 200Mbps.
We caught you, Tim. We know now. Resistance is futile.

If this makes my Air screen look sharper I'm installing it immediately. Did it install Retina?

I have the same machine as well... 8GB, 500GB SSD and changed the DVD for a 1TB Hybrid. Been running betas with little or no issues for the past three years. Cheers.

I keep waiting for this machine to give me a reason to replace it, but it keeps on chugging. It's been dropped numerous times, and is routinely stored at freezing temps. I have only replaced the battery once (about 3 years ago) with a non-OEM unit off Amazon... lasts about 2 hours.

Same here. These units are awesome! Still serves me perfectly even now with OS X 10.11

My 2012 Macbook pro 13" still has the old boot screen with a black Apple logo on a grey background, my mini from the same year has the newer white logo on a black screen, about time the MBP gets newer firmware.

Replacing the HD with an SSD makes a lot of difference, my MBP which I bought just a few months (cheaply in Singapore) was slow like molasses on El Cap, installed a Samsung 256 Gb SSD and it's smooth sailing.
I also installed 8 GB RAM after a couple of weeks but I can't say I feel much of a difference.

65MBps, or just over 500Mbps. I'm jealous to say the least!

Probably the download had been almost finished before because of that:

I hope Mail is fixed. Doesn't play well with IMAP setups.

Me too - I keep switching over to Unibox when one of my IMAP accounts dumps a bunch of emails (which mysteriously return - usually a minute or two later), but I have a hard time giving up the integration with other Apple apps.

I'm on the 2nd beta and it seems a bit more stable, but still has issues with IMAP.

I hope this update fixes an inherent bug I'm experiencing. I keep getting auto reboots daily. I even fully erased the drive and installed El Capitan with no other apps installed. Still reboots automatically after waking from sleep. Only happens after a full day of being in sleep mode.

There's a few people that reported intermittent bluetooth functionality with it sometimes going completely missing upon updating to 10.11.2 (release). Any feedback on that front with this latest beta maybe?

One annoyance I have is whenever the computer is restarted, once everything loads and you right-click the desktop, it beach balls for 5 seconds before showing a menu. There is no spotlight reorganizing, nothing is loading in the background. It doesn't matter if you leave it for 10 or 30 minutes to make sure everything is loaded. The first right-click on the desktop always results in a beachball before showing the menu.

No such behaviour here.

My mail app would crash every 10 minutes or so on beta 1. Hopefully this build fixes things!
