In the latest beta, clicking on a News notification actually took me to the applicable article; in the previous beta, it only opened News but didn't take me to the article.

So they are making some progress. :)

Since I'm running the beta under Parallels, I have some limitations and/or glitches that may not be typical for people running it natively, so I'm not too fussed about those; although between Apple and Parallels, I hope the glitches (so far: scrolling, and tab bar in Safari) go away by or (if Parallels needs to fix) shortly after Mojave becomes the current version.

I may skip DB 6. It took me a few days to get my computer back in order after my Fusion drive was corrupted during last week's DB 5 update.

Why do people install a beta OS on their main production machine?

I've been running 10.14 but it is on a development test machine that won't mess anything up if it corrupts everything.

By any chance, do you know if full installers are available for PB's as well? Delta updates never seem to work for me...they fail almost 100% of the time...the only way I can "update" is to make a bootable installer.

There is something a little bit strange about gatekeeper in the new mojave beta 6.

PS. I have to say that I am very happy that we are now getting full installers for every beta. That is something I have been asking for for years for many mac os betas past. So thanks to apple for finally doing this.

Because we like to try new things and we don't have 2 machines? PB3 was running very nice, without bugs, Lightroom for me was working perfectly, but after updating to PB4 and now PB5 it's still crashing everytime I open it...I send some email to adobe and apple but nobody was answering to me...

Yeah I think thats kind of his point... like you're just adding noise if you're submitting emails to companies about beta operating systems. Its customer activity in developer territory. They are all talking to Apple about whats working and what's not. And the most helpful thing would be to submit a bug report - bugreport.apple.com

Yes. They are available for the public betas too.

Although I am on the developer program I was able to check the public beta availability by running a modified version of installinstallmacos.py via Terminal and the results are as follows:

installinstallmacos2py.png

So if you chose 3 you would get the full installer for the mojave public beta 5.

I modified the installinstallmacos.py script with bbedit replacing 10.13seed with 10.14beta-10.14 thusly:

Change

DEFAULT_SUCATALOG = (
'https://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/'
'index-10.13seed-10.13-10.12-10.11-10.10-10.9'
'-mountainlion-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog')

to

DEFAULT_SUCATALOG = (
'https://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/'
'index-10.14beta-10.14-10.13-10.12-10.11-10.10-10.9'
'-mountainlion-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog')

and saved it as a second copy in my documents folder with filename installinstallmacos2.py

Then run it in terminal with the following command:

sudo python /Users/YOUR USERNAME/Documents/python/installinstallmacos2.py

I put more thorough instructions about installinstallmacos.py here if you are interested:

High Sierra is so buggy on my iMac because I’ve been living with a Fusion Drive converted to APFS for a year that I don’t think it can get any worse if I install a beta of Mojave. Waiting for the next Public Beta and I’ll jump in.

Any impressions from people using Mojave with Adobe Lightroom and Final Cut Pro X? That’s essentially all I use my iMac for these days.
What did you expect. It’s a beta.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! x 1,000,000,000

I followed your instructions and it worked like a charm! I will keep this post handy for reference for when I need it next time... :)

I had an issue with all the previous betas: I wasn't able to run apple scripts from the "Script Menu" - I had to open the script in the editor and run it from there. This has finally been fixed. It seems they've been adding some security stuff as the first time I run a script it asks for permission to launch and interact with whatever app I wanted it to open. I like it.

I haven't owned a Windows PC in over a decade, but I worked in Windows 10 for three weeks, recently. It's amazing how much more advanced OS X is, to this day. I was blown away how bad Windows is after all these years.

Anyone else having issues with this on the 2018 MBP? I updated from beta 4 to 6 today and it's looping.. comes up with login, I enter password, and it reboots.... well then

6 years since Windows 8 was released and there's still two Control Panels in Windows 10. Not the end of the world in itself, but an indication of how much attention is actually applied.

Is it stable enough to be a daily driver, yet?

Is that Python script created by you, or is it the Apple thing?
[doublepost=1533762054][/doublepost]
Whoa, this build runs significantly and noticeably faster for me on my 2013 MBP. Like new computer crazy fast.

Wi-Fi calling still doesn't work, however.

You are fooling yourself. Your computer will never run as fast as with the factory OS it came with.

It might be faster than the High Sierra, but it will never be as fast as it used to be on Mountain Lion/Mavericks.

Mojave is definitely the fastest macOS I've installed on Macs in the last 4 years, at least in terms of graphic performance. At least since Leopard, OS X was always ahead of Windows in terms of graphic performance on machines with equal hardware resources. But the difference between Mojave and Windows 10 is absolutely crazy, it's multiple worlds apart.

Is that Python script created by you, or is it the Apple thing?

I didn’t create the script. I just modified it to allow me to see the public beta currently available since I am on the developer program - in order to answer joec1101’s question.

It is from github. It allows you to download the beta without going through the mac app store or software update preference pane - but use terminal instead.

It also allows people on mojave to download high sierra which the mac app store and software update preference pane do not allow.

There is absolutely zero logic in this statement.

It looks horrible. Too dark.

But, let those who like it have it. At least Apple is giving you a choice, they do not force you to use it.

I wish they gave us same choice when they released the disgrace which was Yosemite. But no...
You and the guy you are responding to are both using the same avatar. Confused me for a second because I thought you were talking to yourself...
