This makes me even more nervous to get AirPods Max, which I was planning to do.
yeah i’d say wait for new ones.
what’s weird is i thought i would never get them and now i want them too. all the celebs are getting into them and i’m seeing them popup everywhere. i guess that’s how good apple’s marketing is.
same as how og airpods started out

Good for you. My pair always kept breaking and having to get replaced to the point I just said **** it and got overear headphones instead.
I guess I would feel the same way if that was my situation. I don’t like over ear, but I also wouldn’t like always busted AirPods.

Right, I think my problem is that I’d like them sooner rather than later, and there has been basically no reliable indicators that there are new ones coming anytime soon.
Most we’ve gotten is Gurman saying there might be new color options, but… that’s it.
And Apple goes years without updating their headphones sometimes, and the Max is still not that old

You could get the current ones and then sell them when new models are coming.

You don't understand that not every device can be updated at the same time? That's kinda just how it works and always has.
Yes, but having bluetooth 5.0 on a 2022 high-end machine (i just checked) isn't the best.
I really hope Apple will use some kind of wifi transmission for lossless audio because having the new apple lossless stream not working with a 6000$ machine from 2022 would be ridiculous.

Ridiculous? Or, totally in keeping with the way Apple does things at times?

Where does one even start? Why not wireless headphones? You can't get progress and still keep the old tech. Its just impossible. If we didn't get rid off stuff then we would still be having laptops with floppy, cd drives etc.
And if you don't want to get with the trend then why are you not on 6S? There will always be trade offs but there will always be solutions. In your case you are stuck in between so thats why you are complaining. Either solve the issue with today's tech or just don't get the tech that doesn't support your "old-ish" lifestyle.
You can't have both. So pick a side

Yep this is totally convenient on my $1000 phone.

Can't wait for the vanilla iPad to lose it's jack and I gotta start doing this crap with it too.

Its time to move on.

I have Airpod Pro and I still end up using wired headphones (with the mac/iPhone onboard mic) for FaceTime calls. This is why:

Notice the 12,216 people that say "I have this question too"...

I just wish you could switch the iPhone to use the onboard mic instead of the Airpod mic on demand. Currently, you have to SharePlay some music at which point you get an option to switch the mic input for better quality.

The AirPods Pro is a such a great device. I rarely go anywhere without them.
I’m sure they are and I want some.

But I have the originals and the batteries are mostly shot. It doesn’t really affect me cause I don’t use them for long periods. But it does leave me with a bad taste in my mouth at this throw away tech that dies after a few years.

Higher quality audio you say? 😯

I’m all ears. 😁

I had the 6s until a week ago, but because it won’t receive updates anymore it was time to move on.

The best and most expensive iPhone is all about camera. And I’m not that fond of mobile photography; it’s fine most of the time, great because it’s always with you, but not my thing. I like big sensor cameras.

I would like it if they release a music centric iPhone; iPhone M or iPhone Touch or something. Give it a simple camera that does not protrude and give it a 3,5mm headphone jack. I would love that. Apple has always been good with sound technology and I don’t want to go google.

For anyone wondering: No, you cannot transmit lossless via bluetooth. Yes aptX lossless and snapdragon sound exist but they are not true lossless as they vary in realtime between lossy and lossless depending on signal strength. In most real world scenarios that's not going to be giving you lossless.
