THAT WAS MY POINT!!!!!!!!!!! :rolleyes::rolleyes:

If you had an iPhone 4 would you upgrade ???? NO because of the same reasons you said you didn't upgrade from a 3GS - iPhone 4...

<Bangs head against wall>

Yet some people did. And watch out for that head, you only have 1. Depending on the wall, it could get bloody. Don't get your panties in a twist, this is a forum, not everyone shares your opinion on every matter.

That's my point really, no matter what Apple releases, it will sell, don't you worry your little head about it.

Oh so KnightWRX you don't have an iPhone 4? My point was having an A5 chip would not be worth upgrading from the 4 to the 5 and many won't if this is all the upgrade is

Many upgraded the iPhone 3GS to the 4 for a LED Flash and a higher resolution screen that sacrificed game performance.

Really, if you think all you're getting is an A5, you're wrong. It will be more even if it shares the same outward appearance. And if you think the A5 alone isn't worth the upgrade, you're forgetting the fate of the 3G as far as iOS upgrades went.

Really guys, chilll.... no need to get so worked up over a baseless rumor, yet another in a long string of contradicting rumors in this whole iPhone 5 saga.

No it did not sacrifice game performance (unless a game was piss poor optimized) The processor bump from 667mhz - 1ghz & doubling of ram to 512mb - meant that alongside higher resolution - game performance has always been vastly superior on iPhone 4 hardware than 3GS ever was even at lower resolution.

Infinity Blade runs at lower FPS on the iPhone 4 than on the 3GS, mostly on account of the higher native resolution (I'm not even going to go to the HD version...).

And the processor bump was from 667 mhz to 800 mhz on the iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 does not run at 1 Ghz.

Facts, a pesky little thing to dismiss the rose colored glasses.

But really, are you calling the iPhone 4 a Hyundai ? Is that what I should understand from your post ?

The iPhone is more like the Ford Pinto -- made of inferior, fragile build materials and not designed to survive the rigors of daily use.

Really, all cellular phones are like that, unless you go for the rugged phones like Motorola makes.

For daily use though, I know many people with the iPhone that have no problem. Maybe you're just clumsy ?

Please post the proof of this statement rather than subjective opinion.

Then it is my subjective opinion because I'm not bothering to sift through the Internet to find the article I read about it. Take it for what you will, anyway I won't ever change your opinion and you won't change mine.

In the end, you're pouring a lot of anger and energy into this rumor, I'm not. :p

Maybe because a quick google search seems to indicate that the iPhone 4 does indeed outpace the 3Gs version.

No anger - just someone not listening to FUD from cloud cuckoo land.

Nope, a quick google search seems to indicate no one bothered to review it on a 3GS. Again, I read an article with detailed benchmarks that proved the contrary. I'm not bothering to find it. Enjoy your anger filled morning as you lambast Apple for a product they have yet to announce.

The iPhone 5 will come, in the mean time, it's best to just ignore all these contradicting rumors and remember 1 thing : No matter how many Android handsets have better specs, better performance, better whatever, the iPhone 5 will sell well and Apple won't live up to all the hype.

wow, lots of people getting all worried over unsubstantiated predictions about a phone. Take some proverbial chill pills, and just wait for the phone to come out... I'm sure Apple will have a few surprises in store...

Google image "iPhone Shatter" -- maybe lots of people are clumsy?

Or, maybe, there's a reason glass isn't used for things that get handled a lot?

Or maybe you shouldn't drop your iPhone 4 ? Again, I know many people with iPhone 4s without shattered glass.

It's not like the iPhone 4 is the only phone out there using Gorilla glass. A lot of Android models also use the same.

Does the iPhone use Gorilla Glass?

Does the iPhone use Gorilla Glass?

Apple don't mention it as such, but it has reinforced glass as one of it's marketing features :

http://www.apple.com/ca/iphone/features/retina-display.html

Advancements in the glass. And under it.

Made from the same materials used in helicopters and high-speed trains, the Retina display glass is chemically strengthened to be harder, more scratch resistant, and more durable than ever. The glass also features an oil-resistant coating that helps keep the screen clean.

It's been confirmed Gorilla Glass by a number of sites. But it's still glass, it will still shatter if you throw your phone against a wall. Nothing surprising there.

ah, (tap on wood) I have dropped my iPhone a few times and no scratches or shattering has occurred. No case is used (most of the time).

I dropped my 3GS a few times too, even kicked it as I was running and it fell out of my pocket. Picked up about 10 meters away and it was still perfect. Of course, it's in a case, but I don't use a screen protector.

Number_41 is quite exaggerating the frailty of the phone, it's not anymore fragile than other cellphones out there.

Anyway, he can say what he wants, the iPhone sells, the next one will too, no matter if it was made of Ice and melted in as soon as you take it out of the freezer to use it.

I wouldn't pay much attention to him.

Regarding some previous posts by you, I would like to say I partially agree with you that the internal spec of the next iphone will/should be a bigger deal than the external looks.

But we are talking about the nerd stuff that so many Apple Evangelist use as an counter argument against Android. If we are actually talking about consumers looking to purchase a new iphone, the external looks matter more than internals(which the average person, mainly doesnt understand)

Even the nerd in me would like to see a redesigned iphone, WITH upgraded internals. But if I am being honest with myself, would a faster SoC automatically make a cnn app work better? facebook app? apps would open what .005 seconds faster?

Externally there will be a bigger impact on the minds of consumers and nerds alike than drooling over a SoC and Ram bump.

I trully believe that the iPhone design will stay the same and Apple will sitck to it for more years.

Just look at Macbook Air design. It hasn't changed dramatically since its realease and you don't ear "That design look completely outdate".

We need to begin to look to the iPhone as a laptop point of view. We don't see case redesign every year, expecially in such a thin design such a Macbook Air.

Apple will begin to update the case when there a significant change to be made.

Oh and the name will stop to increase by one each year. You don't see Macbook Air 2, 3, 3G and so on.

Just my opnion.

Cheers.

When the 3GS came out, suddenly specs mattered. This whole new GPU was so screaming fast and the Cortex A8 made the device just scream. Fast forward iPad 2, 9 times faster graphics!

Apple marketing will say specs don't matter when they don't have the spec crown. They will push the specs as world changing when they do. The "Apple Evangelist" just repeat whatever is poured out of Apple marketing.

Don't worry your little nogging, Apple does what Apple wants to do. If that is a bunch of beefed up internals in an iPhone 4 case with an iPhone 5 label, that is what we're going to get, and it's going to be Magical (said in a soothing voice with a Brit accent and a 50$ makeover from techgeek to "product designer").

Externally there will be a bigger impact on the minds of consumers and nerds alike than drooling over a SoC and Ram bump.

Sure, you can think that, but the 3GS went on to sell so many more units than the 3G that I think anything put out by Apple marketing will have the biggest impact on the minds of consumer, and again, Apple marketing is going to make sure to remind us how magical the device is and how revolutionary it's going to be even if it looks like last year's model.

It's going to sell. No matter what it is. Don't be the nay sayer because if you are, all you will do is have your face dragged in the mud when it does sell and sell very well. You'll be ridiculed and japed about as the guy who said "Just a big iPod Touch, it won't sell.", "It's just an MP3 player", "it doesn't even have 3G!", etc...

Actually, it did back in October 2010. The first design saw 3 revisions, the new design is on its 2nd revision.

Same outside
8 MP Camera
1 GB RAM
32 & 64 GB models
Better graphics
Better Battery
Some new feature only the iPhone 5 has.

Most people would consider that to be a nice upgrade.

!
