Makes me want to smash my iPhone and switch to Android.

I love how there’s always a drama queen in the room spicing things up. Might I suggest trying to first set your iPhone on fire to really get your point across.

Bur I do agree Apple shouldn’t start sending push notifications to sell their overpriced products. Lowering prices would be a far more effective strategy.

If you use the Music and TV apps and want notifications relevant to your subscriptions then you are de facto forced to accept Apple's ******** push ads. This is not OK.

Please send your iPhone my way instead of smashing it.

Apple is such a scummy company and so is its CEO.

How much you want to bet they put out a press release saying something along the lines of “This was just a glitch in our system that affected a small amount of our customers...”? Bull it wasn’t Apple. You spammed your customers. The same customers you routinely claim “Are not your product”
If you really feel this way, why are you frequenting a forum dedicated to the discussion of their products?

Are you being completely serious here? Or are you being sarcastic? A scummy company is a company like Halliburton that fistf—-s the environment by blowing absolutely toxic substances into the crust of the Earth to extract oil at a net cost that is just slightly lower than what it can be purchased for using established networks where the cost to the environment isn’t even 1% as toxic. Or, to use the same awesome company (I’m pretty sure) a war contractor/cheerleader with 10’s of thousands of mercenaries for hire and more weapons suppliers than component manufacturers in an iPhone supply chain.

Tim Cook isn’t Mark Zuckerberg either. There’s a guy with serious mental/emotional problems that have actually affected just about every human being living in a free democracy (however you’d like to define that).

It baffles me that Apple seems to have no intention of making a cheaper companion to HomePod. Why cede that market to Amazon (and Google) where people then learn to use a competing voice service? Make a cheaper little brother to the HomePod instead of sticking Apple Music on Amazon hardware where you’re then forced to promote a competing voice service/product. Dumb.

This post helped. I’ve been getting what I thought were unsolicited notifications from the apps for Walmart, Amazon and several restaurants. Went into the settings for those apps and found a notification setting directly in the app. I was able to keep only shipping and order change options and turn off any special offer notifications. No more notifications for sales I have no interest in. I was getting multiple notifications a day from some of these apps. No more.

So since it’s so “scummy” you put your money where your mouth is and are a windows and android person at this point and sold your aapl. Right?

Wish I had gotten the carpool karaoke one back in october when the new episodes dropped. Love that show.

I've received A LOT of Apple adverts through email this season. Probably more this fall than my entire time with Apple. They are grinding hard to sell sell sell. Tim Cooks Apple is all about revenue.

Well in some peoples eyes Apple lately has been making too mistakes and now nagging people to upgrade when they don’t want to with the high prices
My father had his iphone 6 auto updated even though I (8 year iphone user and tech consultant) checked and disabled his auto update and instructed him to avoid it. I do not know what else they will throttle, feels like it’s not even our phone anymore

First it was unsolicited “presidential alerts” and now this.

Oh the humanity.

To help you understand why you are wrong, think about why all of the millions of other apps in the App Store are specifically barred from sending unsolicited advertisements that are unrelated to things you’ve already shown interest in. I don’t download apps that much but still somehow accumulated hundreds of apps over the last decade. Imagine if even a fraction of them were sending me unwanted ad notifications even as infrequently as once a month or once a year. I would have dumped iOS years ago if Apple thought that kind of hellscape of constant annoyance was acceptable. Fortunately they don’t find it acceptable, which is why they banned the behavior.

Oh, but wait, Apple gets a free pass from following their own rules because: Apple.

Is it OK for me to punch you in the face as long as I don’t do it very hard and only do it once a month? Or would you maybe complain that it’s really annoying and unwanted and that you want it to stop?
Yeah man, lets equate physical violence to simply pushing a notification and deleting it or ignoring it. Your first part makes sense, you completely went off the rails in the second part.

Who are they nagging to upgrade? Are you talking about iOS updates? That has nothing to do with high prices.

You're putting him at a disadvantage as iOS 12 is one of the best releases they have ever had.

I’ll never understand people who make a big deal out of a single unwanted notification or album (U2), yet get dozens and dozens of garbage social media notifications throughout the day. I guess people always gotta complain about something.

We’re probably going to see an accelerated reversal of Apple’s “respect for boundaries” now that Apple is scrambling to fill the void of declining iPhone interest.

I'm not upset over receiving one or two notifications, but I certainly hope it doesn't become as widespread as email spam. I've got two-factor authentication on my WoW account and don't need Bilzzard/Activision sending me push notifications about every new game or update they've got coming out. I've got notifications for my Wal-Mart prescriptions and don't want them sending me stuff about sales on milk.

Apple is smart enough to know what is a notification related to services I've already signed up for and marketing for something they want me to sign up for. I expect the highest standard from them.
